Fashion Scout’s One To Watch list of designers has been revealed.
The fashion showcase has become a staple of London Fashion Week, which runs from September 18 to 22 next month.
Anita Hirlekar, JS Shin, Leaf Xia and Typical Freaks are the four labels to be selected, and they will present their offerings at London’s Freemasons Hall in Covent Garden.
The brands each offer something different and hail from all around the world. Anita graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins with a MA in textiles. She founded her eponymous Iceland-based label last year and focuses on innovative fabrications mixed with unique handcraft. Her work was recently seen in Nytt Lif magazine, including a striking embroidered top and skirt.
Joon-Sik Shin of JS Shin studied at the London College of Fashion and specialises in luxe tailoring. The designer has a background in Italian tailoring, which can be seen throughout.
Typical Freaks designers Seun Ade-Onojobi and Sonia Xiao studied at Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion respectively and are known for their sense of fun and unconventional creations.
Lastly New York-based Chinese designer Leaf Xia will showcase in London. Her collections are full of colour prints and silhouettes. After pursuing her fashion dream at Parsons the New School of Design, Leaf set up her label. Collage has become one of her signatures, which she uses to express her unique design spirit.
“The combination of our four designers chosen from countries as diverse as China and Iceland promises to be our most exciting season ever,” Fashion Scout’s founder and director Martyn Roberts gushed to Vogue UK.
