Gigi Hadid’s collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger has helped to boost the model’s Instagram followers by nearly 36 million.
Gigi is one of the most in-demand models currently working in fashion and has posed for some of the world’s biggest labels, including Fendi, Versace and Moschino.
The 22-year-old has also worked with all-American brand Tommy Hilfiger, though took the partnership to the next level when she joined forces with brand founder Tommy to co-design clothes.
“When Gigi was on my runway, we thought she was exceptional and we said instead of just using her as a model on the runway and maybe photographing some nice photos for some billboards and magazines, why don’t we really use her sense of style?” the 67-year-old recalled to WWD. “Coming from Southern California, she has an incredible sense of style – very causal, very chic, can dress it up or dress it down.
“She had three million followers when we started. She has (nearly) 40 million today. I think we’ve both helped one another.”
Tommy and Gigi’s last show during Milan Fashion Week in February (18) fused together Tommy’s love of fashion and motorsports, with models donning sporty leather pieces.
It marked the pair’s fourth and final collaboration, though Tommy now hints there could be more to come.
“I also really believe that you have to move on after a certain amount of time. This is the fourth season. We’ve had nothing but success, but we have an announcement to make in the very near future,” he teased.
