Scott Eastwood is doing a ‘Brad Pitt’ by growing his hair out in the hope that he’ll stop being cast as a pretty boy
The 32-year-old, who is the son of movie legend Clint Eastwood, has been carving out his own Hollywood career over the past 12 years, with roles in films like The Fate of the Furious, Suicide Squad and brand-new action flick Pacific Rim: Uprising.
But the actor is now looking to take on some more serious roles, like his Fury co-star Brad.
“Having long hair is so weird,” he told Men’s Journal. “It’s the longest it’s been since I was a teenager. I’m trying to grow it out for a year or two. Commit to something.
“I’m trying to get out of the pretty boy thing. I want to do what Brad Pitt did – get a little down and dirty. Hollywood loves to put you in a box: ‘You’re the good-looking military guy.’ But I really want to play some complex characters with more depth. Real roles that have real demand for acting.”
And when it comes to his classic, all-American good looks, Scott disagrees that he’s anything special.
When asked by Haute Living what he thinks of his heartthrob status he replied: “I don’t know what to make of that. To me, there are a tonne of good-looking people in California. There are a tonne of better-looking people than me. I’m just trying to be in good movies, produce movies, put together stories that people respond to and like.
“I guess people (call me a heartthrob), but for me, it was never about being that. I’m just a guy, just a normal guy. I go up there and try to work hard and put my head down. I try to be a better person every day.”
