Actress Mena Suvari’s vegan lifestyle has carried over to her style and beauty choices.
The American Beauty stunner swore off meat and dairy almost a year ago and the choice inspired her to promote sustainable fashion and cruelty-free self-care products.
“I’ve been vegan for almost 10 months now and I went completely cruelty-free in my life even with my beauty products and my whole wardrobe,” she tells Stylish.
The 39-year-old has experienced the many benefits to using such products and hopes to inspire others to do the same.
“I feel really good making the personal changes that I did and I’ve always loved fashion, so I wanted to make it a point, for whatever it’s worth, and show people that you can have fun with sustainable fashion and that it’s possible,” she shares.
“You’re doing a good thing for the environment, you’re doing a good thing for animals and you’re saving a lot of money,” she explains to the publication. “I love being able to feel good in what I’m wearing!”
The star has carried out careful research when it comes to which brands align with her values and has discovered several lines she was unfamiliar with. Suvari also has go to stores she feels offer the most quality cruelty free buys.
“I have found so many lines that I had never heard of before, like Angela Roy, Amur, SUSI Studio and Delux.” she says. “I love working with brands like H&M because I think everything they do is always really cutting edge, beautiful and super fashionable.”
The same goes for what she has chosen to include in her skincare routine.
“I love 100% Pure and I pretty much use all of their products,” Suvari notes. “I also go to Verina Organic Salon in Beverly Hills and all of their products are organic. I’m pretty simple with that kind of stuff and I just like having products that are easy. I’ll put coconut oil on my face and I don’t care.”
