Victoria Beckham has showed off her brand new ’90s-inspired collection for Reebok

The former Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer, launched her eponymous label in 2008 and is known for her sleek, tailored style. Now the keen exerciser has teamed up with athletic brand Reebok to design her own collection, giving a sneak peek on Thursday night (12Apr18) of a limited drop of the range in a collaboration with basketball icon Shaquille O’ Neal at an event in Los Angeles where she talked ’90s fashion and her love of trainers.

“There’s so much good stuff from the ’90s. But there’s also so much bad stuff,” she told Footwear News. “Even the bad stuff makes you smile. It’s so bad, it’s quite brilliant.”

In pictures taken at the event, the diminutive British designer and the statuesque athlete posed with their backs turned to the camera, showing off their significant height difference, with both wearing a T-shirt designed by Victoria for her Reebok collaboration which “celebrates ’90s Reebok and the iconic era that Shaquille O’Neal represents”.

It’s a bit of a departure from Victoria’s usual tailored looks and sky-scraping stilettos but the mother of four admitted she’s enjoying doing something new.

“I’m really enjoying the process. I don’t want to put anything out there until I’m absolutely ready,” she smiled. “To create a trainer — even if you’re working with an existing last — it still takes a long, long time. The process is very different than working in fashion.”

While her husband David Beckham has always been known for his sports luxe style, Victoria is a more recent convert, and now loves combining sneakers with high fashion.

“It’s cool and it looks effortless,” she said of pairing sneakers with men’s tailoring. “You can change your whole look if you throw on a trainer.”

However, while she has embraced casual footwear, the dedicated exerciser who, is often spotted attending SoulCycle classes with her family, isn’t keen on all sportswear trends.

“I don’t understand backless workout clothing,” she noted.
