Actress Evan Rachel Wood has adopted a new “cowgirl robot” style thanks to her role in hit sci-fi series Westworld.
The beauty portrays android Dolores Abernathy in the HBO network’s futuristic Western show and the 19th century American West styles she sports in character have now bled into her real-life wardrobe.
“I’ve embraced my inner mountain woman since Westworld,” she laughs in a joint interview for InStyle with fellow actress Alexandra Shipp. “Cowboy boots, boot-cut jeans, flannels… My look is a lot more rugged because I’ve been spending so much time outdoors in crazy locations. I’m evolving into some kind of a cowgirl robot.”
And Shipp, who plays mutant Storm in the X-Men movie franchise, admits her roles also rub off on her outfit choices: “During X-Men, I got really into Storm’s shoulder pads,” she giggles.
Evan’s style departure into a “cowgirl robot” is distinctly different from her 2017 fashion goal, which was to wear a three-piece suit at every red carpet event.
“Last year was fun; I wore only suits,” she explains. “The challenge was to keep reinventing that. My favourite was the (designer Joseph) Altuzarra (outfit) at the Golden Globes, which paid homage to Marlene Dietrich.”
“The more you feel like a bada**, the more you look like one,” Evan explains of her ongoing suit obsession. “I still love dresses, but it’s really hard to go back after you’ve worn suits. I don’t know if I will. Even when I’m shopping at (U.S. discount retailer) Target, I make the leap over to the men’s section. You realise quickly that they have better stuff.”
