Actress Samira Wiley always ensures she is bikini body ready whenever she visits Palm Springs, because she is rarely in normal clothing during trips to the desert town.

The Handmaid’s Tale star and her wife Lauren Morelli have become regular visitors to the Southern California hotspot, staying at their home from home, the Sparrows Lodge, whenever they are in town.

“There are only about 20 rooms, so it feels very secluded,” she explains to Marie Claire magazine. “On vacation, the first thing I do is start with a cocktail: a jalapeno or habanero margarita with mezcal.

“It’s so hot in Palm Springs, people don’t really do much, and that’s why I like it. To be able to sit down all day and get lost in a book by the pool is a real luxury.”

“It’s not uncommon for it to be well above 100 degrees (Fahrenheit), so you just need something to put over your bathing suit,” she adds of her Palm Springs attire. “Wander into any store in town and that’s the kind of stuff they have.”

Samira tries to beat the heat when she exercises during her visits, revealing she rides bikes and goes running before the sun gets too hot.

“I like to run early in the morning, before the sun comes up, when it’s cool outside,” she details. “The surrounding mountain views are beautiful and make you stop and reflect on how small we are. I feel completely off the grid, like no one can find me.”

However, the 31-year-old Orange is the New Black star doesn’t like to stay too secluded and has a few favourite establishments she visits whenever she is in the area, which thousands of Coachella attendees flock to for the annual festival every year.

“Local Mexican joint Las Casuelas Terraza has become our go-to, not just for the food; it’s the atmosphere, the people-watching, the whole festive vibe,” Samira gushes.
