English designer Victoria Beckham declared “it’s great to be back” as she made her debut at London Fashion Week on Sunday (16Sep18).
Beckham usually shows off her namesake label during the New York Fashion Week round of runways, but to mark the brand’s 10th anniversary, the former popstar decided on a homecoming show.
With her family, including husband David, and children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, sitting front row, Beckham wowed the fashion crowd with her spring/ summer 19 collection, which was packed full of delicate lace negligees, flowing florals and tailored trousers featuring a front split to show off shoes.
“It’s great to be back,” she stated post-show, reports Fashionista. “I’ve had family members here that have never been to a show of mine. They’ve never seen what I’ve done, so it’s great to feel part of London Fashion Week.”
Her mum and dad, Jackie and Tony, and her sister Louise were also at the London showcase, as was David’s mum Sandra and his sister Joanne. British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and close family friend Tana Ramsay also watched as models, including Liya Kebede, Edie Campbell and catwalk veteran Stella Tennant, stormed the runway.
“I feel proud of me and my team,” Beckham gushed backstage.”This feels like a new chapter. I’ve got new investors, I’ve got a new CEO (Paolo Riva) working — he started two weeks ago — there’s so much more now that I can do.”
And talking about the new clothes, which also include trench coats, wide-legged trousers and a gold brocade suit, Beckham explained that it was her aim to celebrate all women.
“It’s all about celebrating women, not just the Victoria Beckham woman – we haven’t always done so in the past,” she commented.
Victoria carried on the celebration with a star-studded Vogue party later on Sunday.
