Naomi Campbell has been tapped to model a Marc Jacobs design that she first wore 25 years ago.
On Wednesday (07Nov18), Marc announced that he was re-issuing the grunge collection he launched while working for Perry Ellis in 1992, with the controversial line famously leading to his dismissal from the U.S. clothing brand.
Naomi was one of the models who debuted the original range at New York Fashion Week, and on Thursday, she took to Instagram to share a photo of her posing in a new version of the same outfit she wore on the catwalk, with the ensemble included in the Redux Grunge Collection 1993/2018.
“I wore this outfit 25 years ago!! I am honoured to wear it again MARC JACOBS GRUNGE !!! #ReduxGrunge @marcjacobs@themarcjacobs,” she captioned the snap, which shows her wearing a white T-shirt, black lace tights, wrap dress printed with lemon design, Dr. Martens boots, and a striped beanie.
Marc’s original runway show also featured Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Tyra Banks, and Kristen McMenamy.
In the latest campaign, the designer has also cast Kristen’s 24-year-old daughter Lily McMenamy, who wears a replica of her mother’s grunge outfit – a lilac shirt with a cartoon character printed on the top, a pair of matching leggings, a black blazer and beanie.
“To introduce #ReduxGrunge, @LilyMcMenamy is wearing the exact look her mom, Kristen McMenamy wore when she closed the original Grunge collection as the groom to Kate Moss’ bride. Lily brings her own character, energy, and spirit to the same look 25 years later photographed by Juergen Teller for our Marc Jacobs Grunge Redux 1993/2018,” the 55-year-old captioned a post of Lily standing in the ensemble.
In the new lookbook, models including Gigi Hadid, Slick Woods, Binx Walton and Adut Akech also sport outfits from the 26-piece collection.
“The Grunge collection epitomised the first time in my professional career I was unwavering in my determination to see my vision come to life on the runway, without creative compromise,” Marc added in a statement.
The collection is now available to pre-order online, with the full range going on sale on 15 November.
