Tragic Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla’s family is launching another makeup line inspired by the singer.
The Bidi Bidi Bom Bom hitmaker’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, recently filed papers to trademark Selena Vive, which translates to Selena Lives, and is reportedly planning to develop a cosmetics line that includes perfumes, compacts, eye makeup, lipstick, foundations, and nail polish under the moniker.
Selena Vive was also the name of a tribute concert, which aired on the 10th anniversary of the superstar’s death in 2005.
According to The Blast, Abraham is also hoping to trademark Selenaville – a term her fans use for her museum in Corpus Christi, Texas, for another cosmetics line. It is unclear when the projects will be released.
This isn’t the family’s first foray into the beauty world – in October, 2016, they collaborated with bosses at cosmetics company M.A.C. to launch the M.A.C x Selena line.
Ahead of the make-up collection’s original release, Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla, who helped create the collection, explained the reasons behind the M.A.C collaboration.
“I wanted the colours to be about her personally, what she wore on and offstage,” Suzette told PeopleStyle. “She has been gone for 21 years already, and for this collaboration to happen, it’s pretty much incredible. It just shows the love her fan base has even though she’s gone; that her music still lives on and her legacy has grown tremendously since she’s passed.
“It’s a great honour to have M.A.C collaborate with Selena’s name and her fans – for her fans.”
Selena died after she was shot by her fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, in 1995 at the age of 23.
