Ian Somerhalder has abandoned plans to try out a “faux hawk” style in the middle of his haircut.

The Vampire Diaries actor took to Instagram on Monday (25Mar19) to upload a mirror selfie showing him wearing a black vest and posing with his head tilted to one side in order to show off his partly shaved head.

In the accompanying caption, Ian explained that he had made a list of goals to accomplish in 2019, including a new look, however, he confessed that he changed his mind about cutting his hair off part of the way through and is now stuck with an uneven hairstyle.

“After the 3 glasses of wine wore off and the clippers ran out of battery… something hit me like a tonne (of) bricks: a little thing called ‘continuity’ for aka #VWars reshoots!” he noted, referring to his upcoming Netflix TV series V-Wars. “I stopped trimming… s**t. Biotin smoothies here we come – gotta grow this s**t out fast… Hair growing out and gearing up for production now. So much gratitude to you all for so much support. It means the world…”

Ian, who is married to actress Nikki Reed, didn’t divulge whether he plans to try out the faux hawk hairstyle once he has finished work on V-Wars or how he will cover his shaved head if his hair doesn’t grow back in time.

The star also shared some of his other priorities for the year, including how he wants to develop his production company Rare Birds, raise money for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, and unveil his wine and spirits companies.

Earlier this month, Ian launched his first red wine under the Dark ll Dawn label, with the product currently only available in China.

“I’m so proud of this wine. Over 3 years, 90 blends and countless hours of work and travel to make this happen,” the 40-year-old wrote alongside a snap of him posing with a bottle on social media. “Thank you to all that made this dream come true and thank you for supporting me in this amazing endeavour.”
