Mindy Kaling is in awe of her Ocean’s 8 co-star Sandra Bullock’s style.

The actress and fashion lover is currently promoting her new collaboration with footwear brand DSW, and when she was asked about her own style heroes, she gushed about the Oscar winner’s choices.

“Sandra Bullock, for someone who is as approachable as she is in all her films… I feel like people don’t give her enough props for how fashionable her red carpet game is,” Mindy tells People magazine.

And she got a front row seat for the Bullock fashion show while promoting the hit comedy with her in 2018.

“When I did Ocean’s 8 with her I remember thinking, ‘She is great’. Her looks for that press tour were stunning.

“She always looks so amazing, but because she doesn’t seem to put a huge amount of importance on it, I think people kind of forget about it. But I think she is very, very fashionable.”

The 39 year old, who is raising a one year old daughter, Katherine, drew from her own relationship with her mum, who died of cancer in 2012, when signing on as the new face of DSW.

“To me, if you grew up in the suburbs like I did, it’s just like a rite of passage to go to DSW with your mom,” she says. “It was a store that I used to shop at when I was in high school. It’s where I got my prom shoes and I would do all my back-to-school shopping there. It would be so exciting because it was an affordable place that still felt cool because they have cool designer brands.”

The Mindy Project creator hopes her little girl develops a similar appreciation for shopping, joking she is “screwed” otherwise.

“If my daughter is not into shopping, then I’m screwed,” she quips. “I mean, my mom and I didn’t go do athletic activities together, like go hiking; we bonded basically through shopping and she loved clothes and fashion as much as I did. Even though growing up I obviously didn’t have as much disposable income as I have now, we could (shop) at places like DSW or Macy’s, where we can actually get really beautiful designer items at not as much cost (sic). So I hope I can do that with (Katherine).”
