Actress Michelle Williams has been holding on to the same parka jacket for more than a decade.

The Venom star admits she loves keeping snug in a big coat, and her favourite parka has been hanging up in her closet for years, helping her battle the chilly temperatures in New York City, particularly during the freezing winter season.

However, Michelle has become so attached to the old jacket, she tries to wear it whenever the weather dips low enough to warrant pulling out the cozy outerwear.

“I love it, I’m very late to give it up in this season (spring),” she smiled on U.S. morning show Live with Kelly and Ryan. “I put it on as early as possible, and I keep it on for as long as possible! Bring on the winter!”

Michelle reveals walking around in the thick coat gives her a feeling of confidence and safety.

“I just find it’s like a literal security blanket,” she said. “I feel like I’m going out in my bed, in my parka. And I’ve had the same parka for, I don’t know, 13, 14 years now.”

Asked if it’s made with goose down or another kind of fluffy filling, she confessed, “I don’t even know what it is (made of), but I’ve had it as long as I’ve been in New York… It really is (my New York identity).”

Michelle moved to the borough of Brooklyn while she was dating late actor Heath Ledger, the father of her 13-year-old daughter Matilda.

They split in 2007, a year before Ledger died, but the 38 year old and her only child has remained in the same neighbourhood ever since, even after Michelle quietly wed Mount Eerie singer/songwriter Phil Elverum last summer (Jul18).
