Donatella Versace and Irina Shayk have shared heartfelt tributes to late designer Luigi Massi.
The style guru passed away last Tuesday night (02Apr19) in Milan, Italy after suffering a heart attack, according to editors at WWD. He was aged 56.
Luigi had worked for the house of Versace for over 30 years, creating numerous red carpet gowns for celebrities, and over the weekend, Donatella broke her silence on the news.
“My heart is broken, I still cannot believe I won’t hear your voice. I still cannot believe I will never see you again,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a black and white picture of her posing with Luigi. “Rest in peace Luigi, you’ll never be forgotten.”
In addition, Russian supermodel Irina, who sported a beautiful gold dress made by Luigi to the Golden Globes earlier this year, uploaded a slideshow of the many other ensembles the designer had made for her over the years.
“The most shy, down to earth, nicest guy. The whole Versace family and I will miss you, Rest In Peace @massiluigi,” the 33-year-old commented.
Of late, Luigi had made showstopping gowns for the likes of actresses Sandra Oh, Constance Wu, and Amy Adams, as well as supermodel Naomi Campbell and singer Ciara.
Naomi was one of the celebrities to send her condolences to Donatella, writing on her Instagram post, “Another chosen family member, will always remember you smile Luigi… May you rest with the highest.”
While Amber Valletta commented, “Heartbreaking loss. I’m sending you all so much love. Rest in Peace sweet and amazing Luigi,” and Gigi Hadid added: “Love you dv (Donatella Versace). I’m so sorry for your loss. He loved you so much.”
