Cardi B’s stylist is defending herself amid criticism for dressing the rapper in a fur coat at a recent beauty event.
The Bodak Yellow hitmaker appeared at BeautyCon in New York last weekend sporting a vintage Paco Rabanne coat with a custom Sarah Sokol hat and Casadei shoes – a look that raised a few eyebrows as animal rights activists condemned the star’s fashion choice.
“Fur is never okurrrr @Cardib,” a representative for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) posted on Twitter, referencing the rapper’s catchphrase and sharing an image of a fox, adding: “Who wore it Better?”
Now Kollin Carter, the stylist behind the ensemble, is speaking out, accusing social media users of being hypocritical.
“How can you bash me for putting my client in fur yet I see leather products on your page, and plates of meat? So hypocritical,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday (10April19). “PETA and their supporters are one of the most hateful activist groups out there. I’ve been called a n**ger and gotten death threats because I chose to put my client in fur… ridiculous.”
Cardi also made headlines at the BeautyCon event after arriving over four hours late, citing a booking issue.
Her appearance was delayed following the Bodak Yellow hitmaker’s late-night performance at the grand opening of Kaos Dayclub & Nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. She took to Instagram after the gathering to gush about the experience and apologise for her poor timekeeping.
“Hey guys! I had such a great time at Beautycon,” Cardi said. “Sorry for me being late, I didn’t realise I was overbooked. It was crazy, from getting to Vegas to over here (New York).”
