Irina Shayk would rather receive a tomato plant than an extravagant bouquet of flowers.
The Russian supermodel is one of the most beautiful women in the world, having landed campaigns for the likes of Intimissimi lingerie, Versace, and Burberry.
But while Irina is undoubtedly regularly gifted with flowers, in a new interview for the latest digital issue of Harper’s Bazaar, she explained that she prefers getting living plants.
“Every time people send me flowers, I’m like, just send me a tomato plant!” she laughed to the publication, adding that she is a little old-fashioned when it comes to being courted by potential suitors. “Nobody’s sending letters to anyone anymore. I really believe if you go for dinner with somebody, you don’t have to send them a text or keep them updated on Instagram message. You freaking pick up the phone, call and say, ‘Let’s have dinner.'”
Irina was most recently in a relationship with actor Bradley Cooper, with whom she shares two-year-old daughter Lea De Seine. While the couple reportedly split in June, the model has no qualms about being single, especially as she grew up surrounded by a group of strong women.
“Women are the ones who can handle everything. Women can raise the kids, women can do the job, and when she’s back, she can cook and clean and do the heavy work too!” the 33-year-old recalled of the women in her homeland, adding that she’s not afraid to be hands-on at home. “People think I have a team of like 20 people, but it’s going to make me more nervous to have somebody else to help me. I think I like to be not helped…If I need to put a nail in the wall or move a sofa, oh yea, I can do it.”
