Amanda Bynes debuted bright pink hair and a septum piercing when she made her social media comeback on Tuesday.

The Hairspray actress has been absent from Twitter since June, when she shared a snap of herself graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, California.

But on Tuesday, Amanda delighted her followers by popping up to showcase her new look and direct fans to her updated Instagram page.

Sharing a snap of herself with pink hair and a ring through the middle of her nose, the 33-year-old tweeted: “Hey guys! I’m on Instagram now!” along with a link to her account.

Once redirected there, fans could see the same picture, as well as a throwback snap of Amanda at her graduation. She also uploaded a couple of selfies, including one in which she is sporting pink-purple hair, matching lipstick and heart-shaped sunglasses and sticking her tongue out for the camera and throwback image of her with long blonde hair standing in front of a mirror at the Atomic Tattoo & Body Piercing in Los Angeles.

“(At) the tattoo shop before I went pink! With the amazing @tattoosbyspooky,” she wrote in the caption. The star didn’t share what tattoo she got at that time.

Amanda has experimented with her hair plenty of times before. In 2013, she partially shaved her head and subsequently wore a range of colourful wigs and hair extensions in public. While in 2017, she returned to her natural brunette shade before going back to bleached blonde.

The actress has endured a series of personal ups and downs, including stints at a psychiatric hospital in 2014 and in March this year, but proved she’d turned things around when she graduated from FIDM with an Associate’s degree in merchandise product development.
