Anna Wintour is happy to see models from diverse backgrounds being embraced by the fashion world.

The fashion journalist, who has acted as editor-in-chief of U.S. Vogue since 1988, is one of the most important figures in the industry.

In a new interview for her Go Ask Anna video series, Wintour was asked who she considered to be the “breakout model” of the season, and she offered a broad answer.

“I don’t think there’s one girl who is really soaring above the others, but certainly Anok (Yai) and Ugbad (Abdi) have had very, very strong seasons,” she commented. “I think what’s so exciting about what is happening on the runway at present is there is so much celebration of diversity. There’s so much celebration of different body types. And I think there’s so much celebration of individuality. It isn’t about one girl ruling the runways.”

Elsewhere in the video, Wintour spoke about her experiences at Paris Fashion Week, and even though her trips to France are fleeting, she tries to incorporate some time for herself.

“A lot of time is spent going to the shows, meeting designers. But I always try to make time to visit museums and if I can find the time, I go out to Versailles. Walk in the extraordinary gardens there and try and switch (my) mind off of fashion,” the 69-year-old stated.

Wintour also named the boot as the accessory of the upcoming season and insisted that she never tires of attend fashion shows. And the editor’s best advice for young fashionistas wanting to attending events is to be persistent.

“Whenever we interview a young fashion designer, there isn’t one that doesn’t tell us when they were an aspiring fashion student, they didn’t find their way into a fashion show. So, all I can say is: Where there is a will, there is a way,” she smiled.
