Naomi Watts was left feeling “miserable” after developing chronic skin condition rosacea while working on her Netflix series Gypsy.

The 51-year-old actress told Britain’s The Sunday Times Style magazine that applying make-up “two to three times” a day and “spending hours under hot lights” while working on the show led to her contracting the condition, which results in redness, pimples, swelling, and small and superficial dilated blood vessels on the face.

“A few years back in 2016, while I was working 16-hour days on Gypsy, I was having to apply make-up two to three times a day and spend hours under hot lights,” she said. “I was really suffering from rosacea. It was making my life miserable. My skin was just saying leave me alone.”

The King Kong actress explained her struggles inspired her to become the latest celebrity to tap into the ever-growing “clean beauty” market, as she launched Onda – a range of natural, organic products that she co-founded with former Conde Nast fashion market director Larissa Thomson and former magazine editor Sarah Bryden-Brown.

Explaining she wanted to start the brand after she “eliminated chemically driven products from my beauty regime”, the new collection has gained a cult following, and Naomi revealed fellow actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who founded lifestyle brand Goop, has been “very supportive” of the venture.

Elsewhere in the interview, the mother-of-two insisted she was dedicated to “supporting” women going through the menopause and has slammed the stigma surrounding it.

“Menopause should not be a dirty word. It’s such a shame society has made it so,” she fired. “We need support from each other, and to not be made to feel like unsexy, infertile, crabby old ladies that should be sent out to pasture.”

Prince’s personal designers are releasing a limited-edition clothing line inspired by pieces they created for the late music icon.

Lori Marcuz and Cathy Robinson worked with the Purple Rain hitmaker from 2011 until his shock death from an accidental drug overdose in April 2016.

The duo, the brains behind the brand Call & Response, are now releasing a line which features a hand-crafted collection of custom jackets, vests, and hand-dyed tunics inspired by the musician.

The line, which was commissioned by Prince’s estate, will also coincide with the deluxe reissue of his double album, 1999.

Despite working for Prince, Marcuz and Robinson never met or spoke with the elusive musician, and simply put together boxes of clothing for him when his assistants requested pieces, usually at the last minute.

“The entire time, (working with Prince), was almost like a blur,” Robinson recalled to Refinery29. “It was so busy and fast. We learned so much working with him because the learning curve was huge. We’ll never be who we were before.”

“Our time with Prince was a hell of a ride,” Marcuz said, adding that they once designed three jackets for the singer to wear to the Grammys. “We miss him. We miss making clothes for him. So this was, in many ways, lovely to do it again.”

Of the new collection, the design duo said they watched a lot of old footage and listened to 1999 “again and again, trying to remember what it was like to hear 1999 for the first time back in the day,” Marcuz added.

Every item in the collection will be custom-made for every person purchasing, with limited quantities available for each piece, with prices ranging from $175 (£133) for a long-sleeved tie-dye top to $2,600 (£1,981) for a purple tunic dress coat.

Gemma Chan had a Cinderella moment each time she donned her wardrobe for Crazy Rich Asians.

The British actress portrayed Astrid Leong-Teo in Jon M. Chu’s hit 2018 romantic comedy, with the kind-hearted character sporting many impressive designer outfits, including a beautiful rose-pink dress with cowl neck from Dior.

But while Gemma had a ball dressing up to play one of Singapore’s most fashionable faces, in a chat with The Allure Podcast, she explained that she didn’t get to keep any of the outfits.

“Astrid, she’s kind of meant to be the equivalent of royalty…in Singapore. So, you know, I tried to channel that kinda old school…glamour, kind of an Audrey Hepburn-ish, Grace Kelly, that kind of vibe,” she explained, adding that she wished she had such a stunning collection of garments.

“It was like being Cinderella. I had to give everything straight back. But, you know, I felt so lucky to even be wearing some of those outfits.”

Costume designer Mary E. Vogt was tasked with putting the outfits together for the entire Crazy Rich Asians cast, including Henry Golding and Constance Wu.

But as Gemma noted, it wasn’t just the costumes that allowed her to tap into the elegant vibe required of her for the role, but the hairstyle too.

“Well, in terms of my work, in terms of my acting, it’s an intrinsic part of getting into character,” the 37-year-old added. “And whether it’s just a particular thing, a particular way your hair is styled, having my hair up when I was playing Astrid, that kind of thing immediately changes your posture and the feeling of having your neck exposed… And, yeah, it’s a big part for me of getting into character.”

Two sequels to Crazy Rich Asians are currently in the works.

Timothee Chalamet helped create the look for his character Theodore ‘Laurie’ Laurence in Little Women.

The 24-year-old is known for his high-fashion sense of style and regularly shuns traditional suits on the red carpet in favour of bold and interesting looks from the likes of Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton, and Alexander McQueen.

Greta Gerwig, the director of the period drama, has revealed that costume designer Jacqueline Durran let Timothee put together his own looks for Laurie because he has such a “fabulous sense of style”.

“The truth is Jacqueline, the costume designer, said Timothee has such a fabulous sense of style that she basically would just let him do what he wanted,” the 36-year-old filmmaker told Variety’s The Big Ticket podcast. “She did hang a bunch of different costumes in his trailer and say, ‘Whatever you want to put together.'”

The filmmaker encouraged the Oscar-nominated actor to research fashionable French male socialites from the 19th century, as well as the work of poet Charles Baudelaire, to prepare for the role.

Costume designer Jacqueline previously told Vulture that she was aware of Timothee’s young fan base, and wanted to keep that in mind while styling his lovelorn character.

“I was looking for a style of suit that would be accessible to a young audience in terms of what they wanted to look at Timothee wearing,” she explained, noting that she was inspired by Bob Dylan and James Tissot’s painting The Circle of the Rue Royale.

“He contributed so strongly to how he wore the clothes. He has a way of wearing things. He’s a very iconic kind of boy. He’s one of the most stylish people I’ve ever met,” she gushed.

Alessandra Ambrosio will be heading home to her native Brazil to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the beach with her family.

The retired Victoria’s Secret Angel, who resides in California, will be flying back to her native Brazil to ring in the New Year with her family and take part in all the Brazilian traditions.

“I’ll be in Brazil so I just get to spend time with my family by the beach,” the model told New York Post’s gossip column Page Six of her New Year’s plans. “We have many traditions in Brazil for New Year’s. Everyone wears white. There’s a lot of fireworks. Everyone goes to the beach. You have to jump seven waves and you make a wish in each wave, and then we throw flowers to the goddess of the ocean. So there’s a lot of traditions that we do!”

The 38-year-old, who shares 11-year-old daughter Anja and seven-year-old son Noah with her former fiance Jamie Mazur, already has a resolution in mind for 2020 but she didn’t want to share it with the outlet, with her explaining, “Otherwise it’s not going to happen! But it’s always something good.”

The catwalk beauty spent Christmas in Santa Monica with her children and new partner Nicolo Oddi this year, but she explained that if she goes to Brazil for the festive holiday, she will spend it having fun in the sun because it’s summer in the country.

“I’m from Brazil and (traditions are) very different because it’s always summer there and it’s nice and warm,” she said. “So Christmas is usually by the beach and super hot … for me, it’s all about just hanging with the whole family together, family and friends and just making the most of it.”

Naomi Campbell has named her appearances at the Valentino and Saint Laurent presentations as her top runway moments of 2019.

The 49-year-old supermodel has been reflecting on her highlights of the year as part of her Year in Review on Instagram and revealed to her followers that two of her highlights of 2019 were closing the show at Valentino’s spring/summer 2019 haute couture and Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2020 presentations.

“What a year it’s been… Looking back, the @maisonvalentino #ValentinoHauteCouture #SpringSummer19 show, and the @ysl #WomenSummer20 show are amongst some of my favourite moments over the last 12 months,” she wrote in the caption. “Grateful for all the things this year has brought (praying hands emoji) #YearInReview #FavoriteRunways2019.”

Naomi also shared video clips of her walking down the runway during both presentations. At Valentino, she made a surprise appearance and bared her torso and flashed her nipples in a dramatic black gown with sheer bodice and ruffled skirt at Place Vendome as part of Paris Couture Week, while at Saint Laurent, she walked in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris wearing a black sequinned blazer jacket and matching trousers – a nod to the French fashion house’s famous Le Smoking suit.

In another Year in Review post, the British catwalk veteran shared that her other career highlights included receiving the Icon Award at The Fashion Awards in December, attending the Met Gala in a design by Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli in May, and staging her annual Fashion for Relief fundraising show in her native London in September.

“This year was full of some incredible honors and events that I’ll never forget… Receiving @britishfashioncouncil Icon Award at this year’s British Fashion Awards, accompanying @pppiccioli to the Met Gala in one of my favorite custom looks from @maisonvalentino, and bringing @fashion4relief home to London for a special runway show were three nights amongst so many others that I will cherish forever!” she wrote.

Emily DiDonato was left stunned after Karlie Kloss shared her candid video on body image.

Back in August, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model opened up about her struggles with her body in a 15-minute video on her YouTube channel, and recalled troubling experiences in which agencies told her she had to lose weight.

Since then, Emily has been blown away by the support she’s received from her fellow models and fans on social media, and told People.com that she was overwhelmed when former Victoria’s Secret Angel Karlie reposted her video on Twitter.

“So many people reached out, and so many outlets picked it up. I was blown away,” she explained. “I had girls like Karlie Kloss repost it, and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I couldn’t believe how much it resonated with so many different types of people. But, I mean, now that I think about it, it’s actually a no brainer that it does.”

She also thanked other models, such as Iskra Lawrence, for their unwavering support.

“Iskra is one of those people who posts things that are positive and relatable. So I can wake up and go, ‘Okay, I’m not the only one who feels that way today.’ I tend to veer away from following people who post the perfect, retouched version of themselves,” Emily stated.

The 28-year-old discussed why she shared her struggles with body positivity in such a public way, and acknowledged that her message wouldn’t have been as well-received a few years ago.

Noting that the industry is “slowly changing”, she said it was now “more acceptable for women of all shapes and sizes to be a full force.”

The 20-year-old South Sudanese beauty took to Instagram to share her joy at scooping the honour at the Models.com Model of the Year (MOTY) Industry Awards.

“This can’t be real!” Adut gushed at the news she’d been named the Industry’s Vote Model of the Year. “I’ve been waking up to the best news lately. I’m so honored to be @modelsdot 2019 “Model of the year” by industry’s vote again for the second year in a row!!!”

The model went on to thank her mentor Naomi Campbell, who was named the Readers’ Choice Model of the Year.

“And to be right beside this iconic woman, congratulations mama I’m so proud of you! @naomi,” she gushed. “From the bottom of my heart thank you so much to everyone in the industry who has been a part of my journey this year. Without you I would not be living my dream.”

Adut later acknowledged that while it’s been a “challenging year”, it’s been the best 12 months of her life.

“I’ve done more than I ever imagined I’d do in my career and 2019 has been proof of that. I’m so proud of all my accomplishments this year. I remind myself every single day how blessed and grateful i am for everything and everyone I have in my life,” she sweetly wrote.

Other winners at the Models.com awards included Alton Mason, who was named the Industry’s Vote and Readers’ Choice Model of the Year in the men’s category.

“To wake up to this award for 2019 Model of the Year @modelsdot is truly a blessing & resonates deeper than ever!” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank you again @modelsdot for this recognition and acknowledgment.”

The 22-year-old American model also won the Industry’s Vote Social Media Star in the male category and was declared to have the best male street style by both sets of voters.

Joe Pesci grilled Stephen Graham over his role in The Irishman as he was worried about an English actor playing one of his old mafia acquaintances.

Graham plays Anthony ‘Tony Pro’ Provenzano in Martin Scorsese’s new movie, which also stars Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

However, the Boardwalk Empire star has now shared that he found meeting Pesci to be mortifying, as the actor knew Tony Pro, who was a leading gangland figure in his home state of New Jersey, and originally had eyes on that part.

“Awkward is not the word,” Stephen told U.K. chat show host Graham Norton. “It was the first couple of days of filming, and I was told that he wanted to see me. He asked, ‘Where are you from?’ I said, ‘I’m from England, Liverpool’ and he went, ‘You’re not Italian?’ I apologised for it and he was like, ‘Okay, you’d better do this right,’ to which I said, ‘I’ll do my best.'”

Graham went on to reveal that Pesci, who plays quietly spoken gangster Russell Bufalino in the film, had coveted the role due to his connection with the top mafioso.

“‘I wanted your part,'” the star recalled Pesci telling him. “I was like, ‘But your part’s massive, you’ve got loads to do.’ And he said, ‘I knew Tony so make sure you do a good job.’ The meeting really couldn’t have got any worse!”

The British actor also revealed that the Home Alone star insisted he completely ditched his Liverpool accent during filming.

“A few days later he came up to me and said, ‘You’re doing really well, come and have some dinner,” the 46-year-old remembered. “But then he said, ‘Why are you talking like that? Why don’t you talk as your character so I can understand you?'”

The Irishman is available on Netflix now.
