Ashley Tisdale is shuttering her beauty brand, Illuminate Cosmetics.
The High School Musical actress launched her make-up company back in 2016, with the label offering up budget-friendly eyeshadow palettes, brush sets, lip glosses, and highlighter kits.
However, Ashley took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that she is closing Illuminate Cosmetics in order to focus on her Hollywood career.
“Hey guys! I’m so sorry for the sad news but I will be shutting down Illuminate Cosmetics, it’s been quite a journey and I thank all of my customers and supporters for coming along (for) the ride,” she wrote. “It started four years ago and as you all know I’ve been trying to run it alone and with my TV shows and movies I just haven’t been able to give illuminate the focus it has needed.”
Ashley is currently appearing in U.S. sitcom Carol’s Second Act and Netflix holiday series Merry Happy Whatever. She also released her third studio album, Symptoms, last year.
And further on in her post, the star indicated that she had struggled to keep Illuminate Cosmetics afloat due to the number of other celebrity brands, such as Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty and Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics, already competing in the market.
“I won’t call this a failure as I have learned so much with taking over the company. I will just say that with the overwhelming market in make-up I just lost my passion for Illuminate. I came into make-up early on but now that everyone is jumping into it, I feel it’s my time to step out. Don’t worry this isn’t the end to me being creative, it’s just the end for this brand in particular. I love you guys,” the 34-year-old concluded.
