Jodie Comer used to rock “super heavily drawn on” eyebrows when she was growing up.
The Killing Eve actress grew up in Liverpool, England – where girls tend to go all out when they get ready for a night on the town – so her introduction to beauty and hairstyling as a teenager was of the maximalist variety.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 27-year-old recalled her ritual of getting a “curly blow” at the hair salon and staying in all-day rollers which “you take out at the last minute so your hair stays in longer”.
She then laughed at the memory of her appearance, sharing how she had a big smoky eye, contouring, and “super heavily drawn on” eyebrows.
“I don’t know if you’re familiar with Liverpool, where I’m from, but Liverpool is the city of glam,” she said. “I look back at pictures of myself, and I’m like, ‘Whoa!’ I respect my parents for just letting me get on with it!”
Jodie has come a long way from overdoing the make-up and cleaning her face with only a baby wipe, as she is now into sheet masks, has facialist Jasmina Vico on speed dial, and is the new global ambassador for luxury skincare brand Noble Panacea.
The British actress now feels more comfortable with no make-up on, although she still has to make sure her brows are on point.
“As I’ve gotten older I’ve realised I just feel more comfortable with no make-up on,” she explained to Vogue.co.uk. “I don’t top up my make-up throughout the day, but I do like a Chanel lipstick. And eyebrow gel. I can have absolutely nothing on my face, but my brows need that.”
