Nina Dobrev has credited meditation with keeping her level-headed during the coronavirus lockdown.
The Vampire Diaries star opened up about her approach to wellbeing while in lockdown at her home in Los Angeles amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and credited meditation with saving her sanity.
“I’ve always wanted to get into meditation, but never had time for it. If I’m being honest, I never made time for it,” she told Vogue.com, and joked that she was “allergic” to the spiritual concept.
“Now, I have nothing but time, and no excuses. During quarantine, I started doing a quick 15-minute meditation every morning, first thing when I wake up. It’s changed everything, and has really helped set the tone for my day,” Nina explained. “It has been instrumental in keeping me level-headed in moments of anxiety and distress during this extremely uncertain time. It’s been a game-changer for my mental wellbeing. I get it now, and I’m happy drinking the meditation Kool-Aid.”
The 31-year-old also confessed she’s been sleeping “more than ever” while self-isolating and the added rest has been hugely beneficial to her skin.
“In interviews, I would always say that my number one beauty tip was rest. But I didn’t always practice what I preached,” she shared. “Well, over the past two months I can proudly say I finally listened to my own advice. And my skin has never been clearer.”
In addition to sleep, Nina has been indulging in daily sheet masks to keep her complexion glowing, and is relying on products from Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop.
“I’ve been doing sheet masks almost every day. Loops makes super-moisturising masks that bring that red-carpet-envy glow. Goop makes a glycolic face wipe I’ve been applying once weekly, and I’ve been using serums like Vintner’s Daughter. My face has started to feel like a baby’s bottom,” Nina joked.
