Sandra Oh gets a little envious of the chic outfits Jodie Comer wears on Killing Eve.
In the hit spy-thriller TV series, the Canadian actress portrays Eve Polastri, a British intelligence investigator tasked with capturing psychopathic assassin Villanelle, as played by Comer.
Fashion critics have given a lot of praise to the designer outfits from the likes of Molly Goddard, Alexander McQueen, and The Vampire’s Wife that have been donned by Villanelle, but in an interview for the June 2020 issue of Elle Canada, Oh admitted she sometimes wishes Polastri had more interesting outfits.
“It kills me!” she joked to the publication. “I go into wardrobe and see that b**ch’s clothing, and I’m just like, ‘Can I get something above Uniqlo? No?'”
Oh then went on to explain that she’s actually fine with Polastri’s utilitarian parkas and high-neck tops as the clothing choices really help to distinguish the characters.
“What are you saying about a character’s mindset when she dresses over-the-top? Eve is always in neutral, basic tones, right? She’s always earthy, in a lot of turtlenecks. The beauty is in how she changes. She changes in fabric. She changes in line, in shape,” the 48-year-old stated, before noting how Polastri’s clothing is subtly altered whenever she gets close to Villanelle. “But it’s all still in her colour palette, so you still keep the character.”
The third series of Killing Eve premiered in April, with a fourth season already greenlit.
