Alexa Chung isn’t a fan of experimenting with new make-up trends.
The 36-year-old model and presenter was recently named a brand ambassador for London-based cosmetics label Code8, and she decided to collaborate with the company’s founders Sophia Chikovani and Nadine Ayache because they share the same practical approach to beauty.
“Code8’s values align with mine in terms of an approach to beauty,” Alexa told Allure magazine. “I feel a bit overwhelmed by products a lot of the time. When it comes to like the practical day-to-day interaction with make-up, I’m a less-is-more kind of person. I want things that are semi-practical.”
“I’m not gonna sit down and contour my face,” the Next in Fashion host laughed. “I don’t really know what I’m doing when I’m putting concealer or foundation on, as you might have seen on my attempts at beauty tutorials on my YouTube.”
And Alexa is also determined not to embrace returning make-up trends, because she made plenty of mistakes while experimenting with cosmetics in her youth.
“I’m also of an age where I really know myself and I really know what suits me and my style,” she shared. “I’m less experimental. I’m not going to put stickers on my face. I lived through the ’90s, so I don’t really want to revisit like some of the mistakes, like a thin brow or silver eye shadow.”
As for her skincare and make-up routine during lockdown, the model and designer has a more subtle approach.
“I’m definitely remembering to moisturise and cleanse,” she said. “As for make-up, I’ve not done a full face.”
