Whitney Port has designed a new capsule collection for Rent the Runway.
The Hills star has teamed up with the luxury subscription fashion service to create the 19-piece Love, Whit by Whitney Port line, featuring floral-printed tie-waist dresses, maxi skirts, peasant blouses, one-shouldered jumpsuits, and crop tops.
And the 35-year-old, who had her own Whitney Eve label from 2009 until 2014, revealed one-third of the collection is made from recycled fabrics and sustainable cotton.
“It’s been six years now, and I’ve just been itching to do this again; when I’m designing, that’s when I feel the most me,” she told Page Six Style. “Renting is a great way to be sustainably involved in fashion.”
A portion of the proceeds is also being donated to the non-profit organisation Until We Do It, which is currently working to distribute 50 million face masks to vulnerable people across the U.S. during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Whitney, who is mother to two-year-old Sonny, assured women that there was nothing remotely body-hugging in her collection.
“There’s nothing body-con – that’s not my style. It’s all very flowy and loose and easy to wear. They’re pieces for the woman who maybe has felt a little bit of a loss of control now, and wants to bring some joy into her life and to feel elevated and put-together, but still really comfortable,” she explained.
And her own wardrobe as a working mother has inspired the overall theme of her collection.
“As a multitasking mom, I gravitate toward pieces that can be easily mixed and matched, or one-piece dresses you can throw on,” Whitney shared.
Love, Whit by Whitney Port is available on Rent the Runway now.
