Gabrielle Union was inspired to re-release her haircare line after suffering from premature balding.

The actress first launched Flawless by Gabrielle Union with her personal hair stylist Larry Sims back in 2017, and she was prompted to revisit the brand following her struggle with hair loss while undergoing fertility treatment.

“A lot of women have had issues with premature balding, hormone-induced balding, hair loss, hair breakage, and I wanted to be able to address a lot of these issues but without price gouging,” she told WWD, noting that her own experiences with IVF left her dealing with premature balding.

After collaborating with Larry, they discussed the best way to promote hair growth, and used ingredients such as biotin, creatine, rice oil complex and Brazilian bacuri butter in to the products.

”I know she’s married to Dwyane (Wade), but I feel like I’m married to both her and her hair,” Larry quipped, as he noted the haircare line does not include any parabens, sulfates or silicones.

Flawless will be available to purchase from Amazon on 3 August, and the first launch includes products such as Hydrating Detangling Shampoo, a 3 Minute Restoring Conditioner, Detangling Leave-In Conditioner and Scalp Soothing Tonic, as well as Shine Enhancing Heat Protection Spray, and Hydrating Curl Refreshing Spray.

Prices range from $4 (£3) to $10 (£8), and a second phase of the duo’s hair mask will be released next year.

EVERYTHING in the line is between $4 – $10 with luxurious results.”
