Serena Williams has unveiled a size-inclusive dress that she designed “for every body”.
The tennis ace shared a video on Instagram showing her wearing the $120 (£99) red Twist Front Dress from her eponymous clothing collection alongside six other women.
Serena, who is mother to daughter Alexis Olympia, explained that the confidence-boosting long-sleeved dress can be worn by women of every size, as she designed the garment to be fully inclusive.
“We’re having a red-hot summer over @serena. I designed the Twist Front Dress for everybody and every BODY,” the 37-year-old captioned the video.
“No one in the world looks exactly the same,” the Grand Slam winner says at the beginning of the clip. “We all are different people, we have different personalities, we have different traits. We all look different and we’ve got to bring our personalities out.”
She then asks the other women to share how they feel wearing her Twist Front Dress.
“I’m curvy, but feel confident in my curves,” one states, while another jokes: “I feel spicy like a jalapeno.”
The knee-length dress is also available in black, and in sizes XS to 3XL at serenawilliams.com.
Serena, who wed Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in 2017, launched her eponymous label with a 12-piece capsule collection in May 2018. The sports star said the line was “inspired by femininity and strength” and explained that she had an ‘S’ embroidered into each of the garments to help women find their own ‘S’ word.
“My ‘S’ is strong and sure,” Williams said. “I have a really good friend of mine, who’s been through a lot and her ‘S’ word is ‘survivor.’ That really touched me. My mom’s ‘S’ word is ‘steadfast’ and boy, is she steadfast.”
