Simon Cowell has lost 20 pounds (nine kilograms) since starting a strict new vegan diet.
The TV and music mogul was urged to ditch red meat, dairy, sugar, bread, and gluten by his doctor earlier this year, and now, he has revealed that the regime has transformed his health and his waistline.
“You feel better. My memory’s better, I feel better, so I didn’t find it difficult. I can still drink beer, so I’m happy,” Cowell told Access Hollywood, as he showed off his svelte figure in a tight-fitting grey shirt and black trousers at the filming of America’s Got Talent.
Back in March, the 59-year-old shared in a chat with Extra that after having blood work done, he was told by a “well-known” doctor that he had to overhaul his diet and lifestyle, and began changing the food he ate within 24 hours.
“I’m thinking, what about alcohol? That’s all I care about. And he said, ‘Maybe not quite as much as you had before,'” he joked.
And Cowell said his diet resembles that of his five-year-old son Eric, who he shares with girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
“It’s like the Eric diet because he actually, apart from ice cream, he actually likes water,” he deadpanned. “I mean, who likes water? And his raw vegetables. So I’m on like, the Eric Cowell diet.”
The X Factor judge decided to change his lifestyle following a scary incident in October 2017, when he fainted and fell down the stairs at his home in London during a bout of insomnia.
He was rushed to hospital and later explained that his fall was due to low blood pressure.
“It was a huge shock,” he told The Sun last year. “I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out.”
