Actress Amy Schumer will return to work following the impending birth of her first child in a movie adaptation of Broadway play The Humans.

The Snatched star, who is heavily pregnant with husband Chris Fischer’s baby, will join former The Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun, Richard Jenkins, Beanie Feldstein, and Jane Houdyshell in the project.

The Humans playwright Stephen Karam will pen the film’s script and also serve as director, reports Deadline.

The one-act play, which debuted on Broadway in 2016, focused on the Blake family’s Thanksgiving holiday gathering, held at a run-down New York City apartment. The celebrations quickly ended as the relatives bickered about religion, illnesses, and economy worries.

It won four Tony Awards in 2016, including Best Play and Best Featured Actress in a Play for Houdyshell. She will reprise her role as family matriarch Deirdre for the big screen adaptation.

Top producer Scott Rudin will help to develop the film version. A projected release date has yet to be set.

The Humans will mark Schumer’s first movie gig as a mother, and her first following romantic comedy I Feel Pretty last year (18).

The news of her casting emerges shortly after the release of a new profile piece in The New York Times, in which Amy admitted she was eager to get back to work following her maternity leave as she wanted to take “control” of her projects once again.

“I like all the things I’ve done, but my favourite is when I’m in control. The last two movies I didn’t write,” the 37-year-old star shared, referring to I Feel Pretty and Snatched. “I didn’t really have anything to say. I now do.”

She had tried to work through her pregnancy pains despite suffering from severe morning sickness condition hyperemesis gravidarum, but last month (Feb19), she was forced to cancel the last few dates of her comedy stand-up shows on doctors’ orders as she was no longer cleared to fly.

Jennifer Garner has thrown her weight behind the 4% challenge, which sees Hollywood stars pledge to work with female directors.

Actors and actresses are being challenged to work with more women filmmakers over the next 18 months to increase the number of women and women of colour behind the camera – an initiative launched by Time’s Up and the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative at the Sundance Film Festival.

Explaining how she has long been a champion of the idea, even before it became a talking point, Jennifer told Time’s Up chief executive Lisa Borders at the 2019 Makers Conference on Thursday (07Feb19) she’s totally on board with the idea.

“To me, I’ve done two films with women, and a TV show driven by women and directed mostly by women, so I feel like oh is it a challenge?” she said. “Oh yeah, no I’m down, I’ve got that. I didn’t know that we had to announce it. I announce that I will take the 4% challenge.

“And you know what, those sets are different. They are different… Whoever is leading the charge it’s reflected in the crew, it’s reflected in the way the ship is run and just the difference kinds of conversations you have on set.”

Earlier this week, Chris Pratt also said he was happily taking on the challenge. During a joint interview with his The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part co-star Elizabeth Banks, who is an accomplished director as well as actress, Chris blindly signed on to star in her next project without knowing any details.

“I’m here and ready for it. I’m in the 4% and I would love for people to get involved,” Elizabeth said to Press Association. “I’ve got movie roles ready to go, Chris is committing to my next film.”

Chris chimed in: “I am, yep. Nope, I don’t even know what it is but I told her I’m in. That’s my agent on the phone but I’m not even going to answer it, let’s do it, because it’s in.”

They then shook on it before Chris joke whispered: “What’s the movie?”

Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson, Amy Schumer, Bryce Dallas Howard and Kyra Sedgwick have also pledged their support, along with executives from Universal Pictures, MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures and Disney.

Kesha shows off her freckles in barefaced selfie

Kesha has vowed to “love myself” after posting a make-up-free selfie displaying her rarely seen freckles.

The Tik Tok singer posted a close-up picture to Instagram revealing her stunning barefaced complexion on Tuesday (15Jan19) and told her followers that she planned to embrace herself, flaws and all, in 2019.

“This year my resolution is to love myself,” she captioned the post. “Just as I am, all f**ked up and imperfect and whatever else. And to let my freckles liiiiiiiive (sic).”

Comedian and pal Amy Schumer commented: “You are so gorgeous!”

Her candid post prompted her fans to post their own make-up-free selfies, with one writing: “Girl I love your freckles I so wish I was younger When you debuted cause I’ve spent years getting rid of mine cause I was bullied for them! Now I miss my freckles.”

While another added: “Freckles are literally so pretty, I love mine and even when I hated the way I looked the one thing I liked about my body were my freckles. Lucky I learned to love myself and my body.”

Her self-affirming post showed the 31-year-old singer has made a positive start to the year despite her ongoing legal battle with her former mentor Dr. Luke.

The singer has been locked in a bitter legal battle with the music producer since 2014, when she attempted to sue him for the reported sexual, physical, and emotional abuse she allegedly endured during the 10 years they worked together at the start of her career.

Luke vehemently dismissed her accusations and subsequently countersued Kesha for defamation.

Kesha is gearing up to set sail on her inaugural Weird & Wonderful Rainbow Ride, a four-day cruise from Tampa, Florida, with a stopover in Nassau, Bahamas, in February, while her empowering anthem Here Comes the Change appears in new film, On the Basis of Sex, the biopic about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Amy Schumer recruited best pals to model new clothing line

Actress Amy Schumer turned to her best friends to help her model her new size-inclusive clothing line to represent everyday women.

The Trainwreck star has teamed up with stylist Leesa Evans, who she met on the set of the 2015 comedy, to launch Le Cloud, a range of comfortable fashions designed for women of all shapes and sizes.

Amy features in the promotional images alongside a varied group of ladies, and she reveals they are all her real-life pals.

“These are all my best friends – a lot of them are nurses and teachers,” she told U.S. breakfast show Today.

Part of the thinking behind the move was to show that the items – and their price tags – are meant for people from all walks of life.

“That was really important to us too, we wanted the price point to be as low as humanly possible but still have the (quality) feel…,” Amy said. “I wanted my friends, the teachers and everyone, to afford it…”

The actress-turned-designer has previously shared her motivation for creating her own line, and she credits Leesa with helping her work out what really works for her body type.

“Fittings (in Hollywood) for me were always kinda painful, and they really mess with your self-esteem, so I was so real reticent,” Amy confessed. “(Then) I met Leesa on Trainwreck and she was like, ‘Oh no, it’s about proportions!’ and just made me feel so different and great about my body.”

There was just one thing the funnywoman would always request from Leesa, which ended up inspiring the brand name after the stylist struggled to find suitable pieces on the market.

“I always insist everything feels like a cloud, which is where (the name) Le Cloud came from…,” smiled Amy. “Everything is super comfortable.”

She added, “The tools that Leesa gave me to feel confident, I wanted to give to every woman. I just was like, ‘Wow’ – it totally changed how I felt about clothing, getting dressed, everything.”

The pair is also using Le Cloud to give back to those in need, as a portion of proceeds from sales will benefit non-profit organisation Community Partners in support of the STYLEFUND project, which Amy and Leesa founded to aid women facing difficult economic circumstances.

Le Cloud went on sale online and in select stores from Thursday (13Dec18).

Amy Schumer was inspired to create her new Le Cloud clothing line after she was made to feel “her body was wrong” during Hollywood fittings.

The actress and comedienne struggled with body image issues prior to meeting her stylist and friend Leesa Evans, her partner in the size inclusive collection, and admits she was one of the first people to make her feel beautiful on the red carpet.

“If the clothes don’t look good on you, you’re made to feel like it’s your fault, like your body is wrong,” she tells InStyle. “I realised I dress badly a lot of the time because I don’t want to be judged as a woman, so I sort of take myself out of the game.

“Leesa wants the person to shine and the clothes to take a back seat. She doesn’t want you to go, ‘I love that outfit’. She wants you to go, ‘I look great. I’ve never seen my body in that way before’.”

The 37 year old, who is expecting her first child, is now hoping her fashion venture helps boost other women’s confidence.

“Women have been made to feel so bad about themselves,” she says. “It feels great to take the reins and be like, ‘None of that’.”

Meanwhile, Schumer and Evans are using their new designs to support women in need – a portion of proceeds from sales will benefit non profit organisation Community Partners in support of the STYLEFUND project, which the two women founded. The charity aims to aid women facing difficult economic circumstances.

Le Cloud will be available online and at New York City’s Saks Off 5th’s 57th Street store and the Beverly Connection in Los Angeles beginning on 13 December (18).

Amy Schumer is set to unveil a clothing collection which caters to “real women” and serves a good cause.

The pregnant actress and comedienne is launching the Le Cloud line with celebrity stylist and costume designer Leesa Evans through department store Saks Fifth Avenue. The ready to wear capsule offers a wide range of pieces that complement a variety of shapes and sizes.

“My instinct is to be authentic and to empower women of all ages and sizes to do the same. We are making beautiful, comfortable and wearable clothing that is accessible to real women,” the star said in a statement. “A Le Cloud customer will feel confident and powerful when wearing these pieces. We take our product seriously, but not ourselves.”

In addition to celebrating women’s bodies with the creations, Schumer and Evans are also using the designs to support women in need – a portion of proceeds from sales of the pieces will benefit non profit organisation Community Partners in support of the STYLEFUND project, which the two women founded. The charity aims to aid women facing difficult economic circumstances.

Among the items are tops, pants, skirts, a jumpsuit and outerwear – with the outfits crafted to feel soft and “light as a cloud.” Sizes are offered from XS to XXL and are available in several colours.

“When designing Le Cloud, we approached each style with the goal of creating shapes that make women feel good about themselves, so their unique personalities can shine through,” Evans shared. “When you find those silhouettes, they become your daily uniform. It’s both an emotional and positive connection to clothing that we’re trying to create through our brand.”

Le Cloud will be available online and at New York City’s Saks Off 5th’s 57th Street store and the Beverly Connection in Los Angeles beginning 13 December (18).

Emily Ratajkowski never expected her decision to go braless at a Brett Kavanaugh protest to attract social media trolls.

The model and actress marched alongside her close friend Amy Schumer in October (18) and thousands of others, in protest of Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, after the now Judge was hit with sexual assault allegations from multiple women.

Emily and Amy ended up getting arrested for their part in the Washington D.C. protest, but it was Emily’s outfit that really got people talking.

“I knew being there would be important and I knew some people would find it controversial, but I never expected anyone to talk about why I wasn’t wearing a bra under my tank top,” she told Stellar Magazine. “It was 32 degrees (Celsius), I was marching through D.C. in jeans. My outfit seemed completely normal to me. And I was there making a political point. Why would people focus on what I was wearing?”

Some critics suggested the 27-year-old lacked credibility by going bra-free, while others told her to put some clothes on.

But Amy, who was keeping her pregnancy secret at the time of the arrest, was quick to jump to her pal’s defence.

“People are trolling @emrata for not wearing a bra while she got arrested. Well for starters I wasn’t wearing a bra either,” she posted on Instagram. “In the “what to wear when being detained for 4 hours on an 87 degree day after a 2 hour march” handbook. Bras aren’t recommended. Emily sacrificed herself fighting to protect women’s rights to choose what they do with their own bodies. How about we show her the same courtesy and direct some of that toxic energy to the people who deserve it.”

Comedienne Amy Schumer has assured fans she isn’t pregnant – but she is creating a fashion line.

The Trainwreck star grabbed headlines on Thursday morning (12Jul18) after posting an image of herself in a red tank top and skirt on Instagram, tagging costume designer Leesa Evans and writing: “@leesaevansstyle and i are cookin somethin Up (sic)”.

Observers interpreted the newlywed’s message as a pregnancy reveal, but Amy, who married chef Chris Fischer earlier this year (Feb18) after just a few months of dating, returned to social media to insist she was not with child.

“I am not pregnant,” she shared in an Instagram video. “My friend said it looked like I was pointing to a bump or something, but I’m not. Leesa Evans (and I) have created a clothing line for all sizes and shapes at a chill price point. That was what I was trying to allude to, but thank you for thinking of my womb.”

In the caption to her Instagram video footage, the I Feel Pretty star reminded fans that pregnancy rumours are constantly swirling around her, adding: “I always have a bump alert!”

The blonde star hasn’t yet revealed any further details about her forthcoming clothing line, but fans can expect it to cater for all women as Amy has been an advocate of body positivity and fashion inclusivity for years, slamming Glamour magazine in 2016 for including her in a special ‘plus-size’ issue.

“I think there’s nothing wrong with being plus size,” she wrote on Instagram. “Beautiful healthy women. Plus size is considered size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and an 8. @glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me.

“Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size? What are your thoughts? Mine are not cool glamour not glamourous.”

Kerry Washington dazzled in a silver jumpsuit at the 2018 Tony Awards on Sunday night (10Jun18).

The Scandal actress, who is currently gearing up to headline in the production of American Son, led the glamour at the Broadway celebration held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Kerry stepped out in a stunning Atelier Versace number complete with plunging neckline, cutouts on the bodice, crystal embellishment and a dramatic train. She topped off the ensemble with bling from Lorraine Schwartz and Orifa Jewels.

“I figured that I wanted to sparkle a little,” the 41-year-old told Entertainment Tonight of her outfit. “I love theatre and I’m so excited to be coming back to Broadway. So, I wanted to really make tonight as festive as possible.”

But Kerry wasn’t the only star to wear silver to the bash; Mean Girls musical writer Tina Fey hit the red carpet in a long silver gown with feather detailing on the skirt from Thom Browne and Cartier jewellery while Tiffany Haddish rocked a shimmering grey Michael Kors jumpsuit.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress Rachel Brosnahan made a return to the red carpet following the death of her aunt, fashion designer Kate Spade, choosing a beautiful rose print Dolce & Gabbana gown with long sleeves for the occasion.

Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany chose a floral dress from Zac Posen and Mean Girls show star Taylor Louderman was elegant in a colour-blocked pink, white and orange gown designed by Christian Siriano.

“Chic and fabulous! The amazing #taylorlouderman looked so amazing tonight in custom Siriano at the #tonyawards,” the designer gushed over Taylor’s look in a post shared on Instagram.

But it wasn’t just the ladies who got dressed up for the night; The Boys in the Band actors Matt Bomer, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells and Jim Parsons attended the show in colour-coordinated tuxedos from Paul Smith.
