Anna Kendrick no longer abides by a strict vegan diet.

In a cover interview for the June 2020 issue of U.S. Shape magazine, the Pitch Perfect actress opened up about her health, lifestyle, and wellbeing.

But during the chat, Anna confessed that she no longer abides by a vegan diet and now once again eats animal products.

“I was vegan for a year, or maybe even two, and it was the best I’ve ever felt. Then I just fell off the wagon super hard,” she said. “I was like, ‘Well, maybe I can just do vegan most days.’ But no. It was the classic slippery-slope situation for Anna.”

Anna went on to name macaroni and cheese as her favourite meal and insisted she treats herself with lots of sweets. Yet, a brief obsession with baking once led her to making far too many brownies.

“There was a period when I baked a lot. Any recipe that was advanced, I would spend days working on it, trying to get it right,” the 34-year-old stated. “Ironically, the only time I was put off by sweets was during the phase when I was baking, because I always felt like I’d eaten three pounds of brownies by the time I was done. So, then I’d give the rest away.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Anna noted that she tries to follow a balanced diet and always eats breakfast. However, she is a tad concerned about what she will be able to eat until she finds a replacement for her go-to snack bar.

“I always eat the same thing: a vegan Pure Organic Ancient Grain peanut butter bar. But they discontinued it. I have a stockpile of them, and it’s dwindling,” she sighed.

Trolls World Tour breaks records with biggest digital release ever

Trolls World Tour has broken records by scoring the biggest opening weekend for a digital release.

The sequel to the 2016 animated musical, featuring the vocal talents of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, James Corden, Sam Rockwell, and Kelly Clarkson, was due to be released in cinemas on 10 April.

However, while big-budget blockbusters, including No Time to Die, Fast and Furious 9, A Quiet Place Part II, and Mulan, were postponed after the Covid-19 outbreak led to cinema chains shuttering across the world, bosses at Universal decided to release Trolls World Tour on video-on-demand services for audiences to enjoy while self-isolating at home.

The movie has become the number one title on on-demand video platforms, such as Amazon, Comcast, Apple, and FandangoNOW, and Universal officials announced on Monday that Trolls World Tour had the biggest opening day and weekend for a digital title. They have not released official figures.

Cameron Douglas, head of FandangoNow, said that the animated sequel had generated the best weekend sales in the history of the streaming service.

“Following weeks of anticipation for its home premiere, Trolls World Tour is now FandangoNOW’s streaming debut champ, with the best pre-orders, first day and opening weekend sales we’ve ever seen,” he said in a statement. “We’re pleased that families looking for a much-needed entertainment break are enjoying DreamWorks Animation’s latest movie on our service.”

The movie, which was available to rent for $19.99 (£16) for 48 hours, was also available to 21 drive-in locations across the U.S.

Movies are traditionally shown in cinemas for around 90 days before being released on video-on-demand services.

Trolls World Tour to debut at home and in cinemas simultaneously

Animated sequel Trolls World Tour will be released on home entertainment and cinemas on the same day due to the impact the coronavirus crisis is having on theatrical releases.

After big blockbusters such as No Time to Die, Fast and Furious 9, A Quiet Place Part II, and Mulan postponed their releases, the animation, which features a voice cast led by Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake, was thought to be the next studio release, with it scheduled to hit cinemas on 10 April.

However, on Monday, Universal Pictures representatives announced that they would be making the movie available on home entertainment and in cinemas on the same day.

In addition, they are also going to make films still showing in cinemas, such as horrors The Hunt, The Invisible Man, and period drama Emma, available on-demand from Friday.

“That’s right folks – due to…um…things happening in the world, we are releasing @TheInvisibleMan for streaming this Friday,” tweeted Leigh Whannell, the director of The Invisible Man. “So those who wanted to catch it in theatres but couldn’t will be able to view it from the safety of their biohazard containment zones (couch or bed).”

The films will be available for a 48-hour rental period at a suggested price of $19.99 (£16) each in the U.S. and for similar prices internationally.

The decision is a huge blow to cinemas, which have been forced to close or reduce seating in some areas due to new social distancing rules implemented to help halt the spread of Covid-19. The news follows a difficult box office weekend, with the North American box office plummeting to a two-decade low.

As a result, Warner Bros. executives have decided to make Birds of Prey, starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, available for digital purchase early, on 24 March. Disney bosses also made Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker available for digital purchase almost a week early and put Frozen II on their streaming service, Disney+, three months earlier than expected.

Studio executives have decided to release Trolls World Tour early after producers announced upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die would be postponed.

On Wednesday, bosses at MGM, Eon, and Universal agreed to delay the planned April debut of the spy movie, starring Daniel Craig, until November amid the coronavirus crisis. More than 95,000 people have been infected worldwide, with 3,286 reported deaths from the virus so far.

Producers of the movie were previously forced to scrap an upcoming Beijing premiere in China and Asian press tours, while U.K., U.S., and international release dates have subsequently been rescheduled following an outcry from fans.

Instead of the 25th 007 movie hitting cinemas, Universal executives have opted to release the Dreamworks Animation sequel, Trolls World Tour, seven days early on 10 April, according to editors at Deadline.

The flick will see original stars Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, and James Corden reprising their animated characters, alongside the vocal talents of newcomers Ozzy Osbourne, Rachel Bloom, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Rockwell, and Jamie Dornan.

Walt Dohrn helmed the sequel, after performing co-directing duties on the 2016 original alongside Mike Mitchell.

Trolls grossed more than $347 million (£269 million) at the worldwide box office, and spawned Timberlake’s hit tune, Can’t Stop the Feeling!

In light of No Time to Die being pulled from cinemas, religious horror movie Saint Maud is also being released early.

The film, which follows the story of a nurse who fears she may be possessed after converting to Roman Catholicism, will now be in cinemas from 3 April.

Anna Kendrick has described starring in her first Christmas movie as a dream come true.

The Pitch Perfect actress plays Noelle Kringle, the daughter of Santa Claus, in the new Disney+ film Noelle.

Released on the streaming service upon its launch last month, the story follows Noelle as she is forced to go on a globetrotting mission to find her wayward brother, Nick Kringle, as portrayed by Bill Hader.

“I’ve always wanted to do a Christmas movie,” Anna raved during an appearance on U.S. talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan. “And if you’re going to do a Christmas movie, it should be with Disney, and it should be that they build the North Pole to film at. It was so much fun.”

Anna also sweetly revealed that her co-star Bill’s three children loved visiting the set of Noelle and would expertly skate around on the ice, putting her to shame.

“I ice skated a little bit when I was really little, but you’re close to the ground when you’re little,” she shared. “A fall is not that scary. In the movie, at the North Pole, everyone ice skates everywhere. There are no streets, there’s just ice.”

And even though her skating appears to be flawless in the flick, Anna was not convinced that her moves were up to par.

“My coach just looked disappointed in me at all times,” the 34-year-old laughed.

Noelle also features appearances from Shirley MacLaine and Billy Eichner.

Anna Kendrick had to learn how to ice skate ahead of filming her new movie, Noelle.

In the new Disney+ film, the 34-year-old actress plays Santa Claus’ daughter, who is forced to go on a globetrotting mission to find her wayward brother, played by Bill Hader.

At the beginning of production on the movie, she confidently told director Marc Lawrence that she used to ice skate when she was younger.

However, her skills weren’t as good as she remembered when she stepped back onto the ice.

“We had snowy Christmases, and I would skate – there’s a pond near my house that I would hobble over to and skate. And I had to skate for this movie, actually, and was like, ‘Well I have skated on a little pond when I was a kid so I’m sure it’ll be like riding a bike,'” Anna told Collider.

“It was not like riding a bike. I definitely looked like Bambi learning to walk the first couple of lessons.”

After weeks of filming the festive movie, the Pitch Perfect star is now a natural on the ice, and she misses being able to skate.

“Now I kind of miss it because I could just like skate over to the director and ask a question and then skate back. It’s a much more efficient form of transportation, really,” Anna laughed.

Noelle, which also stars Shirley MacLaine, Billy Eichner, Julie Hagerty, and Ron Funches, is available now on the Disney+ streaming service in the U.S., and in the U.K. from 31 March.

Rebel Wilson has hinted Pitch Perfect 4 might be in the works.

The Australian actress, who played Fat Amy in the original 2012 comedy, celebrated real-life couple Skylar Astin and Anna Camp’s birthdays at a party on Saturday night (29Sep18), along with fellow co-stars Brittany Snow and Chrissie Fit.

Taking to social media after the bash, Rebel uploaded a photo depicting herself, Brittany, Anna and Chrissie all holding four fingers up to the camera, along with four red heart emojis in the caption.

Accordingly, many fans of the franchise have speculated the photo is an indication that a fourth instalment might be happening.

“DOES THIS MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS??” one Instagram user wrote in the comments section, while another added: “This better mean what we think it means… please please please.”

Neither Rebel nor any of her other fellow Pitch Perfect co-stars, including Anna Kendrick, have yet commented on whether or not there with be another movie.

However, Brittany recently told Extra that she would be open to reprising her role as Chloe Beale once again.

“I think all of us would be game for it. We have the best time filming those movies,” the 32-year-old shared. “We made some of our best friends during that franchise… part of us knows that chapter might be closed and is O.K. with that, but we are still incredibly close and we will probably make them – if they want us to – until the end of time.”

The first Pitch Perfect film received positive reviews from critics and became a sleeper hit, earning over $115 million (£88 million) at the worldwide box office. It was followed by two sequels, Pitch Perfect 2 in 2015 and Pitch Perfect 3 in 2017.

Anna Kendrick & Blake Lively made sure they were minty fresh for kissing scene

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively were minty-fresh for their same sex kiss in new movie A Simple Favor.

The pair had to lock lips for a pivotal scene in the thriller and Anna reveals they both went out of their way to make sure their teeth were clean and their breaths fresh.

Anna, who plays a blogger investigating the disappearance of her chic friend in the Paul Feig-directed movie, tells Pride Source, “All I’m ever thinking about in kissing scenes is, ‘Who has gum? Who has a mint?’, and I think Blake is probably the same, because I’ve never experienced a guy, like, searching for a mint and searching for gum. So, we were the mintiest, freshest two people to have ever kissed in the history of America.”

The same-sex kiss wasn’t a spontaneous thing – the co-stars spent a lot of time working out what the long kiss scene should look like and how it would affect their characters.

“I remember Blake and I both feeling like neither of us wanted to be the aggressor in the scene,” Kendrick explains. “Blake was worried that she would come off as taking advantage of me in that scene, because I’m in a very vulnerable place, and I was worried that I would come off like I wanted so much more, and that Blake is just kind of playing.

“(Blake’s character) Emily is very comfortable with the fluid aspects of her sexuality, whereas (my character) Stephanie has more of an emotional component to it… She’s completely in love with her (Emily) in a way that she can’t totally understand.”

But, storyline and techniques aside, Kendrick adds, “It was a fun day.”

Anna Kendrick is frustrated that she’s almost always offered roles as wholesome characters – when in real life she is anything but.

The 33-year-old actress’ appearances in the Twilight and Pitch Perfect franchises have earned her a reputation as a dependable star of family-friendly films.

But Anna says that off screen you’re more likely to find her drinking and cursing than being perky and caring.

“All my friends know me,” she told Total Film magazine. “I can’t get through a serious conversation without making an inappropriate joke. I drink all the time. I curse all the time. I have no interest in children. So when people are like, ‘You’re perfect to play this upbeat, doesn’t curse, doesn’t drink mommy blogger who is obsessed with her kids, I’m like, ‘What? What the f**k are you talking about?'”

The opportunity to unleash her naughty side is one reason she’s delighted to have been cast alongside Blake Lively in A Simple Favor – a new thriller in which she plays Stephanie, a motherhood blogger whose outward friendliness masks a dark past.

Explaining her character, Anna said: “She’s got a lot of issues… guilt about stuff she’s done in her youth. She is trying hard to plaster on a smile and a can-do attitude that says, ‘I’ve never done anything wrong in my life! The cracks start to show as the movie goes on.”

In the movie, Blake plays Stephanie’s best friend Emily, a potty-mouthed publicist who disappears – prompting the blogger to hunt for her.

Anna says she was pleasantly surprised to find the Gossip Girl star shared her dark sense of humour when she previously met her after working with Blake’s husband Ryan Reynolds.

“I just thought she was so, so, sweet,” the actress said. “And it was really fun to get to know her a little better and see the kind of funny dark side of her. I was a little worried about her being such a sweetheart that I would be offending her left and right.”

A Sample Favor hits in cinemas from 13 September (18).
