Behati Prinsloo has defended the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show amid the recent controversy, insisting it’s “just a show”.

The 30-year-old model was just one of the beauties to walk in the 2018 extravaganza, which hit headlines due to its lack of plus-size models.

In a new interview with Elle magazine, Behati was asked where she thinks Victoria’s Secret fits in to the “major body positivity movement” spreading the globe, and answered: “I think Victoria’s Secret embodies a lot of things. There’s a lot of talk about everything but I think people need to also understand that it’s a show. It’s not saying negative or positive about any body type, it’s ‘this is who they are.’ We’re strong, we’re confident, and I think any woman is a Victoria’s Secret woman.

“But people also need to understand that it’s just a show. I don’t think that it says that they’re not for a certain type of body. It’s cool to talk about it and great to open up a conversation and so much good has happened. I think it’s a show. Let’s just have fun and not make it about anything and just have a great night and celebrate everyone.”

Attempting to remain neutral, Behati concluded: “We’ve all got a body, nobody looks the same. It’s tough, it’s a hard thing to do because there’s always two sides and I’m just trying to, you know, live my best life.”

Prior to the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, plus-size model Robyn Lawley was among those criticising the brand for its lack of body diversity, and even started a petition urging consumers to boycott the company.

“(Around) 80 per cent of people who watch that show are women, so why wouldn’t you cater to that and show diversity? It just doesn’t make any sense to me financially from a company standpoint but also it takes a company like Victoria’s Secret to change the game,” Robyn, 29, mused at the time.

In addition to criticism for failing to keep up with consumer desire for body positive underwear, Victoria’s Secret’s chief marketing officer, Ed Razek, has come under fire in the wake of the brand’s annual show, after telling U.S. Vogue that he decided against casting transgender models in the latest spectacle because the company “did not market to the whole world”. He later apologised on social media for coming across as “insensitive”.

The Victoria’s Secret Angels wowed during the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York on Thursday night (08Nov18).

The annual lingerie extravaganza returned to the U.S. after two years away from the city, and featured performances from the likes of Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes, Halsey, and Bebe Rexha.

Styled in outfits by London-based designer Mary Katrantzou, the world’s top supermodels took to the runway wearing an array of showstopping ensembles.

The show marked the return of Behati Prinsloo after a three-year hiatus following the births of her daughters Dusty Rose, two, and eight-month-old Gio Grace, and the 30-year-old made a triumphant comeback wearing a grand tartan cape and matching jacket, layered over a red and black lacy cropped basque.

New mother and veteran Angel Candice Swanepoel also made an appearance just five months after welcoming her son Ariel, and stunned in a shimmering black bra and thong set, later changing into a high-waisted pink corset and a Victoria’s Secret Angel slogan T-shirt complete with dainty pink and gold feathered wings.

The show also marked Adriana Lima’s last time on the Victoria’s Secret runway, and the Brazilian model received an emotional standing ovation as she made her final walk.

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid also returned after missing out on last year’s event, while Winnie Harlow made her Victoria’s Secret debut. The trio walked hand-in-hand down the catwalk, with Gigi and Winnie styled in floral cut-out bodysuits and Kendall in an edgier laced black underwear set with an embellished neck piece.

Swedish star Elsa Hosk was given the honour of wearing this year’s coveted $1 million (£766,500) Fantasy Bra, which consisted of over 2,100 jewels, and looked ethereal in a dainty white feathered back piece and diamante body chain.

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air in the U.S. on the ABC network on 2 December.

Robyn Lawley has fronted a size inclusive lingerie show for plus-size fashion retailer Simply Be.

The Australian star was joined on Tuesday (06Nov18) by models Hayley Hasselhoff, Felicity Hayward and Ashley James, in a show that featured models from U.S. sizes 8-20 (U.K. sizes 10-22). Robyn, who recently started a petition urging consumers to boycott Victoria’s Secret over its alleged lack of body diversity, praised Simply Be for its inclusive presentation.

“I started the petition with the help of a few women who have the same sentiments,” she explained in a statement. “I’ve worked with Simply Be over the years and I’ve witnessed them champion women of all shapes and sizes throughout all of their campaigns.”

Ann Steer, Chief Customer Officer at N Brown Group who own Simply Be, said that the We’re All Angels show was intended to “eliminate the idea that we are defined by our bodies.”

“This isn’t about thin shaming – we just think it’s time we saw more diversity in terms of size in advertising campaigns and on runways,” she added.

In addition to her petition, Robyn also encouraged women to share photos of themselves “as you are (not airbrushed and beautiful)” with the #weareallangels hashtag, and pledged to donate one bra to the I Support the Girls non-profit for every woman that posted a picture.

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is scheduled to take place in New York on Thursday (08Nov), with Angels including Adriana Lima and Behati Prinsloo, as well as Kendall Jenner and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid all taking to the catwalk. Swedish model Elsa Hosk has been chosen to wear this year’s coveted Fantasy Bra.

Behati Prinsloo has shared a body positive message ahead of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The Namibian model is set to make a return to the runway at the upcoming lingerie spectacle in New York City, having taken a three-year hiatus from the show after welcoming daughters Dusty Rose, two, and eight-month-old Gio Grace, with her Maroon 5 frontman husband Adam Levine.

Behati has been uploading videos from her gym sessions on social media in the lead-up to her next gig, and on Tuesday (06Nov18), she posted a close-up of her svelte figure on her Instagram Story.

“After two babies back to back, doing the @victoriassecret show felt like a distant dream haha,” the 30-year-old captioned the snap. “But I’m so proud to be back and proud of my body and what it can do, feeling stronger than ever and healthier than ever with two beautiful baby girls. #girlpower.”

Behati will be joined by models including Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro and Martha Hunt at the show on Thursday, as well as Victoria’s Secret veterans like Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel.

And Candice, 30, echoed Behati’s words in a post on her own Instagram page too, as she and fiance Hermann Nicoli welcomed their second child together, a son named Ariel, in June.

“I love what @behatiprinsloo said today and I’d like to elaborate… I’m so excited to feel strong again after having two babies. It’s definitely a process feeling ‘normal’ again. Our bodies become a vessel and it’s a mind-blowing process making a human being. I’m far from perfect and every mother should give themselves time to recover and not have to focus on what they look like. It’s about how you FEEL that is important. You are important,” she wrote. “I can’t tell you how proud I am of my body and what it has given me… Now, I’m ready to put myself out there again and this time (I’m) doing it for all the mamas out there working and taking care of their babies because we deserve to feel beautiful and powerful.”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, featuring musical guests including Rita Ora, The Chainsmokers and Halsey, will air in the U.S. on the ABC network on 2 December.

Swedish stunner Elsa Hosk has been chosen to model the coveted Fantasy Bra at the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The runway beauty has been walking in the lingerie brand’s annual shows since 2011, and this time, the Victoria’s Secret Angel will be showing off her assets in the diamond-encrusted Dream Angels Fantasy Bra, which is worth $1 million (£766,500).

“It’s so exciting, I’m nervous already!” Elsa exclaimed as she announced the news on U.S. breakfast show Today. “It’s my eighth show, but I’ve never had the honour of wearing the Fantasy Bra yet, so it’s a big one.”

The pricey item boasts over 2,100 Swarovski diamonds for a total of 71 carats, all set in sterling silver, and although Elsa admits the bra itself isn’t too comfortable, she won’t be complaining.

“I mean, I don’t mind,” she shared. “For this, I’ll do it!”

Elsa follows in the footsteps of Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro, who was selected to wear the Fantasy Bra at last year’s fashion spectacular in Shanghai, China.

They will join fellow Victoria’s Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Stella Maxwell, and Jasmine Tookes, as well as models Bella and Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, among others, when they strut their stuff on the catwalk for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Thursday (08Nov18). It will air in the U.S. on 2 December.

Meanwhile, Elsa has also modelled a new version of the Dream Angels Fantasy Bra for fans to purchase for the first time.

The less expensive take on the lingerie, which is made in a similar style and covered with Swarovski crystals, comes with a $250 (£190) price tag and is set to launch on 29 November.

Bella Hadid has teased what to expect from the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with some backstage snaps.

The supermodel will be walking the catwalk alongside sister Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Winnie Harlow, as well as Angels like Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel.

This will be Bella’s third time walking in the lingerie brand’s annual show, and she decided to share a sneak peek during the Victoria’s Secret fittings which took place on Sunday (04Nov18).

“@victoriassecret fittings today (heart emoji) i can’t wait for you to see all of the beautiful outfits,” the 22-year-old wrote alongside a series of photos which showed her flaunting her slim physique in a matching black lingerie set and knee-high snakeskin boots.

Bella also appeared to address the recent backlash from those who have accused the label of failing to showcase a diverse range of body types on its runway, with many claiming that the Victoria’s Secret models are typically too thin. However, Bella insisted that she was feeling healthier than ever.

“…i’m so grateful to be a part of the show again, feeling happier and healthier than ever (heart emoji),” she said, adding, “(all body types are different and react differently to a great workout routine and a healthy diet (heart, muscle and star emoji)).”

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is scheduled to take place in New York City on 8 November, and will air in the U.S. on the ABC network in December.

Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha, Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Kelsea Ballerini, Shawn Mendes and The Struts will all be performing at the hotly anticipated fashion extravaganza.

“The show is a year-long production, and 2018 promises to be our most ambitious yet,” said Victoria’s Secret executive producer Ed Razek in a statement. “We have more musical guests, more fashion and more stories than ever; and, of course, 60 of the world’s top models.”

Lais Ribeiro feared she’d miss out on the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show due to a broken bone in her foot.

The Brazilian model has worked with the U.S. lingerie giant since 2010, and wore the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra at the 2017 spectacle held in Shanghai, China.

Though Lais has spent the last couple of months preparing for the next show, to be held in New York on 8 November, she has now shared that she was scared she might have to skip the event due to an injury.

“I broke a bone in my foot recently and I was worried that I’d have to sit this year out. So, my goal this year my goal was to (actually) walk in the show but all good – it’s healed. I am taking it easier, though,” she told Elle.com of her preparation. “I started doing Pilates and realised that it’s much better for my body. I am not tired all the time, so Pilates is definitely key for me.”

Previously, Lais was forced to pull out of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2012 after she sprained her ankle in rehearsals.

And the brunette beauty says that walking with the runway while sporting large wings is no easy task.

“Sometimes the big wings make me feel like I’m bouncing while walking. And then I’m thinking, ‘How are my facial expressions, how am I walking?’ There are a lot of things going on at once, so I just try to focus,” the 28-year-old shared of her thoughts while strutting her stuff on the catwalk.

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will feature veterans like Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, and Candice Swanepoel, with other returning faces including Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, and Taylor Hill.

Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Kelsea Ballerini, Rita Ora, and Shawn Mendes will be among the musical performers.

Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner will walk in the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The American models both skipped last year’s lingerie spectacle held in Shanghai, as Gigi reportedly had her visa denied by local officials and Kendall had committed to modelling for rival brand La Perla instead.

However, producers of the upcoming event have now confirmed both fashion stars will return to the stage in New York City, where they will join Victoria’s Secret models including Gigi’s younger sister Bella Hadid, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell and Taylor Hill.

“The show is a year-long production, and 2018 promises to be our most ambitious yet,” said Victoria’s Secret executive producer Ed Razek in a statement. “We have more musical guests, more fashion and more stories than ever; and, of course, 60 of the world’s top models.”

In addition, Victoria’s Secret veteran Adriana Lima will appear, as will Behati Prinsloo, who is back after a three-year hiatus following the birth of her second daughter Gio Grace in February, and Candice Swanepoel, who welcomed her second child, a son named Ariel, in June.

While the models will showcase a limited-edition line created in collaboration with London-based designer Mary Katrantzou.

Mary Katrantzou hopes her designs for Victoria’s Secret feel like a “second skin”.

Earlier this month (Oct18), bosses at the U.S. lingerie giant announced that the Greek designer would be creating sexy separates for the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, to be held in New York City in November.

Regarding the collection, Katrantzou has now shared that she was very concerned with getting the fit right when crafting the bras and underwear.

“It’s designed to empower women to have fun with their undergarments and feel free to explore pattern and colour as a second skin,” she told Vogue.com. “The pieces can be worn as undergarments or as actual clothing, so all the fabrications have dual purpose. I wanted to stay true to our brand heritage, so pattern and colour are integral to the collection, but we always kept the Victoria’s Secret girl central to the design process.”

Katrantzou went on to explain that she looked back at silhouettes she crafted for previous fashion collections for inspiration, but also created new styles specifically for the lingerie company.

In addition, she confirmed the garments will include her signature prints, with a teaser image of the colour palette depicting blue and burgundy flower motifs against a pink and white striped background.

“I wanted the collection to be colourful and uplifting, bold, and strong,” the 35-year-old smiled.

After the show, Katrantzou’s underwear designs will be available to buy in-store and online as part of the Victoria’s Secret holiday collection. Prices have not yet been announced.

So far, models such as Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Winnie Harlow, Devon Windsor, Leomie Anderson and Cindy Bruna have been confirmed to appear in the style spectacle. Footwear designer Brian Atwood has also hinted that Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner walk the runway too, after taking a break in recent years.

Candice Swanepoel is walking in the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The supermodel will return to the runway just five months after giving birth to her second son Ariel, whom she welcomed with fiance Hermann Nicoli in June (18).

With many of her fans worried that mothering duties could make her a no-show for the lingerie brand’s annual extravaganza, Candice confirmed she would be returning to the fashion show with a post on her Instagram stories, as reported by editors at Vogue Australia on Monday (15Oct18).

The fashion show is taking place in New York in November, following a two-year hiatus abroad with stints in Shanghai, China and Paris, France. It was also recently confirmed that Victoria’s Secret had tapped Mary Katrantzou to create pieces for the event, taking over from Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, who was 2017’s designer.

Another model returning to the catwalk is mother-of-two Behati Prinsloo, who took a break from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show following the birth of her daughters Dusty, two, and Gio, eight months.

“I’m coming back this year. I missed two years, so I’m really excited to walk this year,” she divulged during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Stella Maxwell, Leomie Anderson and Devon Windsor are also returning, while there will also be plenty of new faces such as Duckie Thot and Winnie Harlow.

“I can’t believe this!!” Winnie exclaimed on Instagram, following her casting. “Thank you for giving me all the energy and kindness in that room! Thank you for allowing me to walk for VICTORIA’S SECRET!”

Other models include Georgia Fowler, Grace Elizabeth and Kelsey Merritt, the first Filipino model to walk in the show.
