Manolo Blahnik is launching a line of men’s accessories.

The Spanish designer’s luxury footwear is a staple of the fashion world, with celebrity fans including Jennifer Aniston, Blake Lively, Olivia Palermo and Miranda Kerr.

But Manolo is now moving into the men’s market, and after opening his first dedicated men’s store in London’s Burlington Arcade in July (18), he has announced that he is making an accessories range too.

“I think there’s a niche group of people out there that still love beautifully executed things, fabrics, colours,” he told The Telegraph. “I love accessories, which is why I wanted to make them for myself. I sent some crocodile fingerless gloves to Karl Lagerfeld too.”

The collection includes standard and fingerless gloves made from colourful leather or cowhide, pocket squares and scarves.

Made from silk, the squares feature bold patterns and the designer’s initials.

“It’s a small selection, and very specific,” Kristina Blahnik, chief executive officer of Manolo Blahnik, explained to Footwear News. “It’s about creating solid foundations and building layers on top – a sprinkling of newness underpinning the classics.”

Regarding the capsule, Kristina recalled how Manolo simply yelled out the word “accessories” while working on his men’s shoe collection in his studio one day – and the range quickly came together soon after.

And she is adamant that even the most conservative of men are beginning to become more experimental when it comes to outfits.

“Men’s fashion is getting much more explorative, colourful and expressive,” she added.

The Manolo Blahnik men’s accessories line will be sold online and at the brand’s flagship boutique.

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively were minty-fresh for their same sex kiss in new movie A Simple Favor.

The pair had to lock lips for a pivotal scene in the thriller and Anna reveals they both went out of their way to make sure their teeth were clean and their breaths fresh.

Anna, who plays a blogger investigating the disappearance of her chic friend in the Paul Feig-directed movie, tells Pride Source, “All I’m ever thinking about in kissing scenes is, ‘Who has gum? Who has a mint?’, and I think Blake is probably the same, because I’ve never experienced a guy, like, searching for a mint and searching for gum. So, we were the mintiest, freshest two people to have ever kissed in the history of America.”

The same-sex kiss wasn’t a spontaneous thing – the co-stars spent a lot of time working out what the long kiss scene should look like and how it would affect their characters.

“I remember Blake and I both feeling like neither of us wanted to be the aggressor in the scene,” Kendrick explains. “Blake was worried that she would come off as taking advantage of me in that scene, because I’m in a very vulnerable place, and I was worried that I would come off like I wanted so much more, and that Blake is just kind of playing.

“(Blake’s character) Emily is very comfortable with the fluid aspects of her sexuality, whereas (my character) Stephanie has more of an emotional component to it… She’s completely in love with her (Emily) in a way that she can’t totally understand.”

But, storyline and techniques aside, Kendrick adds, “It was a fun day.”

Anna Kendrick is frustrated that she’s almost always offered roles as wholesome characters – when in real life she is anything but.

The 33-year-old actress’ appearances in the Twilight and Pitch Perfect franchises have earned her a reputation as a dependable star of family-friendly films.

But Anna says that off screen you’re more likely to find her drinking and cursing than being perky and caring.

“All my friends know me,” she told Total Film magazine. “I can’t get through a serious conversation without making an inappropriate joke. I drink all the time. I curse all the time. I have no interest in children. So when people are like, ‘You’re perfect to play this upbeat, doesn’t curse, doesn’t drink mommy blogger who is obsessed with her kids, I’m like, ‘What? What the f**k are you talking about?'”

The opportunity to unleash her naughty side is one reason she’s delighted to have been cast alongside Blake Lively in A Simple Favor – a new thriller in which she plays Stephanie, a motherhood blogger whose outward friendliness masks a dark past.

Explaining her character, Anna said: “She’s got a lot of issues… guilt about stuff she’s done in her youth. She is trying hard to plaster on a smile and a can-do attitude that says, ‘I’ve never done anything wrong in my life! The cracks start to show as the movie goes on.”

In the movie, Blake plays Stephanie’s best friend Emily, a potty-mouthed publicist who disappears – prompting the blogger to hunt for her.

Anna says she was pleasantly surprised to find the Gossip Girl star shared her dark sense of humour when she previously met her after working with Blake’s husband Ryan Reynolds.

“I just thought she was so, so, sweet,” the actress said. “And it was really fun to get to know her a little better and see the kind of funny dark side of her. I was a little worried about her being such a sweetheart that I would be offending her left and right.”

A Sample Favor hits in cinemas from 13 September (18).

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is in the running for the Style Icon prize at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards.

The event is due to take place on 12 August in Los Angeles, and the former Suits actress faces stiff competition from the likes of Blake Lively, Zendaya, Chadwick Boseman, hip-hop trio Migos, as well as last year’s winner, Harry Styles.

Meghan is the first member of the British royal family to ever receive a nomination for a Teen Choice Award, and her chance of winning the accolade is now left in the hands of voters between the ages of 13 and 19.

The 36-year-old’s style choices have proved to be extremely popular with fashion lovers since she went public with her relationship with her now-husband Prince Harry, and her Givenchy bridal gown designed by Clare Waight Keller, as well as her Stella McCartney halterneck evening dress, were widely praised when the couple tied the knot in May (18).

Her shopping habits have also had a huge impact on the fashion industry as a whole and triggered a phenomenon which has been dubbed the Meghan Effect, whereby clothes she’s been photographed wearing – such as the white belted coat by Line the Label she sported the day her engagement was announced – have subsequently sold out in a matter of hours.

Meghan’s influence means she has become a favourite client of many top designers, such as Spanish shoe mogul Manolo Blahnik, whose BB pumps she has showcased on multiple occasions.

“It is a great honour and joy to have my shoes worn by such a beautiful young lady,” Blahnik shared, according to Footwear News. “Meghan is well on her way to becoming a style icon of the 21st century.”

Christian Louboutin wins legal battle over red soles

Christian Louboutin has won a court battle in its bid to trademark red-soled high heels.

The French luxury footwear brand, founded by designer Christian Louboutin in 1991, is known for manufacturing stilettos with red lacquered soles, nicknamed ‘bloody shoes’ by rapper Cardi B, with the designs often sported at Hollywood events by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, Dita Von Teese and Nicki Minaj.

In the past few years, Louboutin’s signature red soles have been at the centre of various disputes but the company has just won a major victory, as European Court of Justice (ECJ) judges have ruled that shape trademarks do not apply to Louboutin’s red sole.

“The mark does not relate to a specific shape of sole for high-heeled shoes since the description of that mark explicitly states that the contour of the shoe does not form part of the mark and is intended purely to show the positioning of the red colour covered by the registration,” ECJ officials said in a statement on Tuesday (12Jun18).

In 2013, Louboutin initiated litigation against Van Haren for selling a red-soled shoe, though lawyers for the Dutch company argued that under EU law, companies cannot trademark common shapes of products, such as shoes, and alleged that Louboutin, therefore, didn’t have trademark protection.

The decision of ECJ judges on Monday differed from advice delivered in February by an advocate general who suggested that the trademark combining colour and shape could be declared invalid or refused on the grounds of EU trademark law, especially as shapes are not usually protected.

Regarding the latest ruling, a Louboutin representative said that they “warmly” welcomed the decision.

“The protection of Christian Louboutin’s red sole trademark is strengthened by the European Court of Justice,” they said in a statement issued to Reuters. “The red colour applied on the sole of a woman’s high heel shoe is a position mark, as Maison Christian Louboutin has maintained for many years.”

Sterling K. Brown has joined Blake Lively’s new action-thriller The Rhythm Section.

After winning acclaim for his performances in TV shows The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story and This Is Us, the actor has landed roles in films such as Black Panther and Hotel Artemis.

For his next major silver screen appearance, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Brown will appear in Lively’s latest vehicle – though it is not yet known which character he will play.

Directed by Reed Morano, The Rhythm Section is based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Mark Burnell and follows Stephanie Patrick, a woman who seeks revenge against those who orchestrated a plane crash that killed her family.

Jude Law, Raza Jaffrey and Max Casella have also been cast in the movie.

Principal photography kicked off in Dublin, Ireland last December (17) but production was temporarily halted after Lively suffered a hand injury on the set. The 30-year-old underwent surgery in December but the operation was not entirely successful and she required a second surgery a month later.

It is believed that filming on the flick has now resumed in Spain. In spite of the delays, studio bosses at Paramount Pictures are still planning to release the film on 22 February 2019.

Brown recently wrapped up shooting on Shane Black’s sci-fi horror film The Predator, in which he plays a government agent, and a voice-acting role in The Angry Birds Movie 2, also starring Dove Cameron, Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis.

The Rhythm Section is being produced by Eon Productions’ Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the team behind the latest James Bond films.

Blake Lively has admitted that she feels relief when imperfect pictures of her are edited.

The stunning actress, who shot to fame playing Serena van der Woodsen in teen drama Gossip Girl, may spend a lot of her life in front of the camera, but she confessed during a chat with model Gigi Hadid for American Harper’s Bazaar that she’s often not happy with the finished result.

“I’m guilty myself of being at a photo shoot and saying, ‘That looks terrible on me.’ And they’re like, ‘We’ll fix it.’ And you’re so relieved,” she told Gigi. “It’s so important for young people not to compare themselves with what they see online. It’s our job as actors and/or models to be in shape. We have access to gyms and trainers and healthy food. And then on top of that, 99.9 per cent of the time the images are Photoshopped.”

The 30-year-old has been married to Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds since 2012, and together they have daughters James and Ines.

The blonde star went on to urge fans to “think of editorials or ads as a painting, an art form”.

“I mean, that’s definitely not how we wake up looking every single day of our lives,” she pointed out. “My dream is for all images to have a little asterisk next to them with a caption that reads, this photo has been retouched. Just so there’s a gentle reminder that, ‘hey, this isn’t real life.'”

Though The Age of Adaline star is grateful to have professionals on hand to bring her pictures up to scratch, the same can’t be said for her personal photo collection.

“My social media, on the other hand, looks like a screen grab from Supermarket Sweep,” she laughed, after complimenting Gigi’s organised Instagram page. “It’s all over the place. Sometimes I use filters, sometimes I don’t. I don’t use a nice even aesthetic.”

Gigi Hadid denies she slimmed down to further her modelling career

Gigi Hadid pines for her old curves, but insists her slender frame isn’t down to “giving in” to the fashion industry.

Gigi, along with her model sister Bella, rose to fame on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as the daughters of show regular Yolanda Hadid.

She had her fashion break in 2014 when she walked for Desigual at New York Fashion Week, and over the last four years, has become one of the world’s top models.

But her figure has noticeably slimmed down in that time, which Gigi reasserted in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar has been caused by her health issues. In December 2016 the model revealed she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune condition which affects the thyroid gland.

“Most of it is just nonsense. But it can still hurt,” Gigi told actress Blake Lively about dealing with social media trolls. “Nowadays, people are quick to say, ‘I used to love Gigi’s body, and now she just gave in.’ But I’m not skinny because I gave in to the industry.

“When I had a more athletic figure, I was proud of my body because I was an amazing volleyball player and horseback rider. But after discovering that I have Hashimoto’s, I needed to eat healthy and work out. It was weird as a teenager, dealing with this when all of my friends could eat McDonald’s and it wouldn’t affect them.

“If I could choose, I would have my a*s back and I would have the t*ts I had a few years ago. But, honestly, we can’t look back with regret. I loved my body then, and I love my body now.”

The 22-year-old, who recently split from long-time boyfriend Zayn Malik, doesn’t dwell on body issues though, and has urged her fans to also not get caught up in what other people say about them.

Gigi has more than 48 million followers across her Twitter and Instagram accounts, and regularly posts images celebrating her body.

“Whoever is reading this, I want you to realise that three years from now you will look back at a picture from this time period and be like: ‘Wow, I was so hot. Why did I feel so bad about myself because of some stupid thing someone said?’” she smiled.

Emily Blunt wants to make movie with best pal Blake Lively

Emily Blunt would “love” her close friend Blake Lively to join her in a new movie.

The actresses have been pals for several years, with Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds attending the New York premiere of Emily and her spouse John Krasinski’s new horror film A Quiet Place last week (end08Apr18).

However, despite their friendship the duo have never starred on screen together, something the Mary Poppins Returns star is keen to rectify.

“Oh God yes, I would love it, love it,” she told WENN/Cover Media when asked about working with Blake at A Quiet Place’s London premiere.

The film has earned rave reviews, not least from Ryan, who wrote on Twitter, “I’ve seen #AQuietPlace twice in one week. SEE THIS FILM! @johnkrasinski and #EmilyBlunt are my new parents. Congratulations, Ryan.”

John has directed the movie as well as starring alongside his wife. They play two parents trying to protect themselves and their children from monsters who hunt using sound – meaning they remain totally silent for large parts of the film.

The moviemaking couple earned praise from one of A Quiet Place’s child stars, 13-year-old Noah Jupe, who said they had been “like a surrogate family” and “spoilt me with kindness” on set.

Emily, 35, and John, 38, have two kids of their own, Hazel, four, and 22-month-old Violet, but the actor turned filmmaker is not ready to involve them in the family business just yet.

“I’ll probably be long retired by then, but if that’s what they want to do then that’s what they want to do,” John said when asked if he’d cast his own kids in one of his films. “I don’t want to be the von Trapps (the singing family from The Sound of Music) just yet though.”

As well as delighting critics A Quiet Place has also struck a chord with audiences, earning $50 million (£35.5 million) in North American cinemas over the weekend.

Emily Blunt stole the spotlight in a gorgeous gown at the New York A Quiet Place premiere on Monday night (02Mar18).

The British actress stepped out at the AMC Lincoln Square theatre for the debut of her latest film, a horror tale which follows a family of four that must navigate their lives in silence, that was co-written and directed by her husband John Krasinski.

Emily posed up a storm as she hit the red carpet and looked ultra glamorous in a strapless dress from Oscar de la Renta which featured a dark red silk bodice and frothy pale pink skirt tied at the waist with a long red ribbon.

She accessorised with red satin Gianvito Rossi high heel sandals, a pink satin purse from Tyler Ellis and jewellery from Lorraine Schwartz. John coordinated with his wife by donning a classic grey suit from Ermenegildo Zegna, teamed with a dark shirt and matching shoes from Christian Louboutin.

At one point, the Hollywood couple stopped to take photos with their on-screen children, as played by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, and they also met up with Emily’s pregnant sister Felicity Blunt and her actor husband Stanley Tucci.

A number of other celebrities turned out at the event to show their support for Emily and John, including Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

Blake pulled out all the stops for the night too, donning a Chanel dress with grey tweed skirt and black leather bodice which she matched with strappy Balenciaga heels and bling from Ofira and Lorraine Schwartz.

Jordana Brewster went for a relaxed look in a pair of slouchy black trousers, a white camisole and gold jacket, while Zosia Mamet rocked up in jeans, a black top and a pair of lace-up boots.

And Broadway star Brandon Victor Dixon made a sartorial statement in a fuchsia suit worn with black accessories.
