Kate Hudson was left unimpressed when she stepped on the scales after indulging over the holiday period.
The Almost Famous actress is one of the faces of diet plan WW USA, and frequently shares tips and recipes on social media. But in a post on Thursday, Kate admitted it was time to set some new fitness goals for 2020 after letting herself go over Christmas and New Year.
“It’s January second, 2020,” Kate said as she cradled a coffee mug in a video on her Instagram Stories. “I got on the scale – I wasn’t impressed. But that’s O.K. because I know how to do this.”
She then candidly shared a clip of herself on the scales, weighing in at 135.9 pounds (61 kilograms).
“So, post-holiday, I’m basically 136 (pounds)… I always round up,” the 40-year-old wrote over the scales snap. “Ideal weight for me (is) 125 pounds (56 kilograms). I’m gonna say 3-5 pounds is mostly water and I’m a muscular frame so I weigh more even though I’m lean. Important for people to understand that! Weight in muscle is a happy number!”
Kate then told her 11 million followers that she would be kickstarting her new eating and fitness regime as soon as possible.
“I’m gonna bring you along on this ride,” she insisted.
The mother-of-three shared an example of her daily diet plan too, explaining that she starts her day with black coffee and celery juice, both of which are zero points on the WW USA diet plan. For lunch, she had shrimp cooked with sherry vinegar and garlic, for zero points, and later exercised for 30 minutes.
Kate previously credited following the WW USA plan for helping her get back into shape following the birth of her daughter Rani Rose in October 2018.

The 38-year-old daughter of Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn has become a huge star in her own right, with roles in movies such as Almost Famous and Bride Wars under her belt.
But Kate has revealed in an interview with Vogue.co.uk that she initially considered an entirely different career.
“I was very serious about soccer, growing up,” she explained. “It was actually something that I could have pursued in terms of college, but I didn’t because I wanted to act and sing and dance.
“What really happened was I danced for a lot of my life. Then soccer got very competitive for me and so that kind of took over and I didn’t dance so much. But then I realised I didn’t want to seriously pursue soccer, because you sort of get to a point where you really have to commit if you want to go further with it. It was a really difficult decision for me because I love competitive sport. I miss it to this day.”
Kate is now able to share her love of the sport with her children, 14-year-old Ryder and six-year-old Bingham. However, when it comes to taking on her eldest, he still hasn’t managed to perfect the skills to beat his mum on the pitch.
“Playing with my kids it’s actually fun – it’s the one thing where I am the best!” she smiled. “My son Ryder’s getting there with me now, he can just about get around me, but he still hasn’t hit that level yet where he can beat me.”
