Laura Dern has revealed she can finally support herself financially through acting.

The 52-year-old actress made the surprising revelation during an interview with Into The Gloss, in which she said that despite beginning her career in the 1970s, she’s only just been able to support herself with the money she’s been making from films and TV.

“It was only this year where I really felt like I could fully support myself (financially) through acting,” Laura explained. “I was taught that being an actor was a sacrifice, and being an actor meant you might not make a living. Being financially independent while doing something we love is not a story we’ve been sold as women… I’m really interested in that story changing.”

The actress, who has been winning accolades for her performance as divorce lawyer Nora in Marriage Story, credited her “fierce” mother Diane Ladd for supporting her dream of being a movie star.

“I’ve known since I was seven that I wanted to be an actor,” Laura shared, before adding that she was really lucky to have parents – including father Bruce Dern – who were already seasoned Hollywood stars.

“There was no paparazzi, false-glamour life. Being an actor felt like a practical craft. You worked hard and you went to work like other people went to work. For me, the reality of growing up in Hollywood was the opposite to the idea of growing up in Hollywood,” she stated.

Margot Robbie wowed in a white dress at the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night.

Some of the film industry’s biggest stars turned out for the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, which focuses on the story of TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), as they set out to make names for themselves in the film industry at the time of the Charles Manson murders in Los Angeles in 1969.

Australian actress Margot portrays Sharon Tate in the movie, and for the star-studded event, she opted for a flowing white Chanel number with a deep-V neckline, flowing sleeves and floor-sweeping skirt.

Referencing the time period of the film, the 29-year-old’s hairstylist Bryce Scarlett styled her blonde locks into soft curls, while her make-up artist Pati Dubroff opted for a “hot summer ’70s vibe,” and used Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Make-up Base and the Duo Bronze et Lumiere Clair palette to achieve her bronzed complexion.

Margot accessorised her ensemble with gold chandelier earring and a gold purse.

Meanwhile, Leonardo and Brad both looked handsome in sharp suits, and filmmaker Quentin chose a black suit with a velvet blazer.

Rumer Willis, who plays Joanna Pettet, rocked a beautiful white Grecian gown from Ong-Oaj Pairam and high heels from Christian Louboutin, and was supported by her sisters Scout and Tallulah.

Margaret Qualley, who takes on the part of Pussycat in the film, made it a family affair too, stopping to pose in her sheer Prada dress alongside her father Paul Qualley and sister Rainey.

Rising star Austin Butler, who plays Charles “Tex” Watson, was joined by his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, who looked stunning in a black Armani gown, with other castmembers to turn out for the bash included Timothy Olyphant, Rebecca Gayheart, Bruce Dern, and Zoe Bell.

Additionally, celebrities such as Adriana Lima, Rob Lowe, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, Pierce Brosnan, Britney Spears, Robin Thicke, John Stamos, Chris Hemsworth, and Sofia Vergara got dressed to the nines for the night as well.

White Boy Rick director Yann Demange has insisted Matthew McConaughey is not a “precious” actor.

Yann, who made waves with his first film ‘71, cast Matthew as Rick Wershe Sr. in his new feature, which tells the true story of Rick Wershe Jr., the youngest ever FBI informant, and how he wound up serving a life sentence as a teenager.

Talking about working with Oscar winner Matthew, the filmmaker only has good things to say about the Dallas Buyers Club star.

“What surprised me, I’ve not worked with a star before and I was like, ‘How’s it going to be? Is he going to listen and be open?’ And he did, he’d be up for trying anything, as long as you collaborate with him and you try everything he wants to do, he’ll try everything you want to do too,” Yann smiled to Cover Media.

“You just got to put the time in. And he’s there to jazz, he’s there to riff, he’s there to try. He’s not precious, he doesn’t think he knows all the answers. He likes to be directed, but he has ideas as well, he has strong ideas, and you’ve got to try them out. And he surprised me many times. I thought a scene should be played more serious, and he’d play it lighter and funnier. And I was like, ‘Oh actually you’re right, there’s more poignancy in that.’”

English actress Bel Powley, Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry and Hollywood heavyweights Bruce Dern and Jennifer Jason Leigh also star.

Actor Bruce Dern will replace his friend Burt Reynolds in Quentin Tarantino’s new movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Reynolds died suddenly earlier this month (Sep18), before he could shoot his role as ranch owner George Spahn in the star-studded film, and now Deadline sources have confirmed the Nebraska actor has stepped in to take over.

The film will be Dern’s third with Tarantino – he also starred in the director’s The Hateful Eight and Django Unchained.

The veteran joins Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, James Marsden, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, and Lena Dunham, among others in the new film, which is set in the summer of 1969 against the backdrop of the notorious Manson Family murders.

Cult leader Charles Manson and his followers stunned the world with a killing spree that included the massacre of pregnant actress Sharon Tate.

Dern’s character Spahn turned his Los Angeles ranch into a movie location for westerns before Manson convinced him to let himself and his followers use the place as their headquarters. In exchange for rent, the cult leader persuaded his female followers to sleep with the blind ranch owner and serve as his guides on the property.

The Deadline sources claim Dern is currently shooting Remember Me in Spain for director Martin Rosete, but he’ll leave the production to film his part in Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.

Bruce and Burt were longtime friends and appeared together in 2003 TV western Hard Ground.
