The Matrix 4 and Uncharted are the latest movies to be affected by the global coronavirus pandemic.

Director Lana Wachowski had begun work on the fourth instalment in the sci-fi franchise back in February, with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles for the highly-anticipated project.

But in the time since production moved from San Francisco to Berlin, where Wachowski was preparing to shoot this week, U.S. President Donald Trump has introduced strict travel restrictions from most European countries to America, prompting Warner Bros. bosses to make the decision to halt filming indefinitely.

It is unknown when production on the film, which also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Neil Patrick Harris, will restart, and if the planned release date of 2021 will be impacted.

More than 186,000 people have been infected, with at least 7,471 deaths, since the outbreak began in Wuhan, China back in December.

Several European countries, including France, Germany, and Italy, have temporarily closed their borders and put residents into lockdown to stop the spread of the virus.

Also affected is Uncharted, Sony’s big-screen adaptation of the PlayStation video game franchise, which has been put on hold for six weeks.

The project, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, was in the pre-production phase. And any changes to the filming schedule may delay Holland’s upcoming third Spider-Man movie, which was due to begin shooting this summer.

Director Travis Knight exited Uncharted earlier this year over concerns that it would have to be completed quickly in order to release Holland for his duties as the web-slinging superhero at Marvel.

Ruben Fleischer eventually took over as director, but the release date was postponed by three months to March 2021.

Priyanka Chopra is reportedly in final talks to join The Matrix 4.

The fourth movie was announced back in August, with co-creator Lana Wachowski at the helm and original stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith reprising their roles of Neo, Trinity, and Niobe, respectively.

According to editors at Variety, Chopra will join Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick as the newest additions to the Matrix franchise.

The 37-year-old actress, who is no stranger to action movies thanks to her role in Baywatch alongside Dwayne Johnson, has yet to comment on the reports.

Castmembers have been taking part in lengthy fight training sessions since early December ahead of production on the Warner Bros. film, which is set to begin soon in northern California.

Meanwhile, Reeves has been training with his co-stars on The Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 simultaneously, Variety reports.

The sci-fi franchise began back in 1999 with The Matrix and followed the story of Neo, Trinity and Morpheus, played by Laurence Fishburne, who try to break free of a virtual reality system that is guarded by Hugo Weaving’s sinister artificial intelligence programme, Agent Smith.

The 59-year-old Australian actor recently announced he wouldn’t be reprising his role for the fourth instalment due to scheduling conflicts, as he’s due to appear on the London stage alongside Lesley Manville in The Visit.

“I was in touch with Lana Wachowski, but in the end, she decided that the dates weren’t going to work. So, we’d sorted the dates and then she sort of changed her mind. They’re pushing on ahead without me,” Weaving explained to Time Out.

The Matrix 4 is scheduled to hit cinemas in May 2021.

Neil Patrick Harris has landed a mysterious role in the fourth instalment of the Matrix franchise.

The 46-year-old will join original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity for Lana Wachowski’s highly anticipated sci-fi movie, The Matrix 4.

Details of the How I Met Your Mother star’s casting are under wraps, with sources close to the project not yet confirming who Harris will play, according to editors at Variety.

However, fans on social media have speculated that the actor may be playing a different incarnation of Morpheus, who was portrayed by Laurence Fishburne in the original trilogy.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was tapped as one of the leads in the Matrix 4 last week, and it was also reported that Jada Pinkett Smith is in talks to reprise her role as Niobe.

The 48-year-old played the character in the second and third movies – The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions – with reporters at Deadline claiming she is still in negotiations over the part.

News of The Matrix 4 was announced back in August, and Wachowski, who will write and direct the film, stated that the issues explored in the original movies “are even more relevant now”.

“I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends,” she said in a statement at the time.

Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell will serve as co-writers on the script with Wachowski, who will also produce with Grant Hill.

The film is expected to begin production at the beginning of 2020 and will be released in 2022.

Krysten Ritter turned heads in a futuristic outfit at the Jessica Jones premiere on Wednesday night (07Mar18).

The actress portrays the title character, a former superhero turned private investigator, on the Netflix show, with the second series set to debut on Thursday.

To celebrate the success of the programme, Krysten attended a special screening held at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square in New York and captured the attention of the crowd in a silver gown with thigh-high split by Cushnie Et Ochs. The 36-year-old accessorised her look with diamond drop earrings and a pair of silver pumps with ankle straps.

Rachael Taylor, who plays Trish Walker on the show, got dressed up for the event too. The Australian actress stepped out in a burgundy dress with silver beading that she matched with a slick of wine red-hued lipstick and a pair of blush-coloured satin high heels.

While former The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss looked great in a black suit which was worn with an embroidered sheer top and black shoes. She ramped up the glamour with her beauty look as well, and sported an eye-catching swipe of dark pink eyeshadow on her lids.

Actress Leah Gibson also attended the premiere and donned a strapless black jumpsuit with sequinned bodice which she wore with Christian Louboutin stilettos, while her co-star Eka Darville opted to wear a three-piece blue suit along with a black overcoat that featured silver embellishment on the back and sleeves.

And over in Los Angeles, a parade of celebrities walked the red carpet at The Forgiven premiere. The film tells of how brutal murderer Piet Blomfield seeks redemption through meetings with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and stars Eric Bana and Forest Whitaker in the lead roles.

Both actors turned up for the debut, as did Toni Braxton who sported a chic white jumpsuit, and Kat Graham, who looked gorgeous in an off-white silk gown.
