Marc Jacobs’ fiance Charly Defrancesco is hoping to tie the knot in Chipotle.

The couple got in engaged in a branch of the Mexican fast food chain in April (18), after Jacobs organised a flash mob-inspired dance amongst a group inside the venue. Following the routine, which was performed to the hit song Kiss by Prince, the designer got down on one knee to ask his partner to marry him and later uploaded the footage of the romantic moment to his Instagram account. And now the couple have started to think about what they want from their big day, Defrancesco has revealed he would be more than happy to return to the site of the proposal.

“I know Marc really, really wants it at the Rainbow Room or the Boom Boom Room but I’d be happy getting married at Chipotle,” the candlemaker told People at The Fashion Group International Night of Stars Gala on Thursday (25Oct). However, he is confident that the pair will not get carried away when it comes to wedding planning.

“We don’t want it to become bridezilla or anything like that but we do want to make it festive and a night we can all be with the people we love,” he smiled.

Following the happy news, many questioned why the fashion mogul selected such an unusual venue to pop the question, but Jacobs insisted that though he was hoping to ask the killer question at a more glamorous location, there was a simple explanation behind the choice.

“It’s (Charly’s) favourite restaurant. We have an annual (tradition),” he previously told WWD. “I wanted to take him out for a romantic dinner on his birthday and he was like, ‘No, I want to go to Chipotle.’ So I knew I had to (propose) somewhere where he wouldn’t suspect that I was going to do that.”

Joshua Jackson has come clean about his addiction to Mexican chain Chipotle in a bid to trick his brain into giving up fast food.

The Affair star has been trying to eat healthier, but his dependency on menu items from restaurant’s menu has consistently overtaken his will, and now he has discovered a Chipotle close to where he is performing his Broadway revival of Children of a Lesser God, there’s little chance he can stay away.

“I have a closet Chipotle addiction, and there’s one two blocks away from the theatre,” he tells GQ. “That’s where I go when it’s all going wrong. I’m doing my best to be as good as I can. There’s a little health food mart around the corner from the theatre as well.

“The good side of my brain says, ‘Go to the health-food mart’. The bad side of my brain says, ‘Go to Chipotle!'”

The former Dawson’s Creek actor admits the bad side of his brain often takes hold when it comes to food and drink, citing rye whiskey as his go-to method of dozing off when he’s having trouble getting to sleep.

“A glass of rye is… my version of a sleeping pill, I guess,” the Canadian star shares, “but rye is water to Canadians. Michter’s Rye.”

Joshua, who hails from Vancouver, British Colombia pays homage to his heritage in his clothing too, admitting he is addicted to well-fitted headgear.

“This will only matter to a Canadian, but my brand of tuque (beanie) is generally from See See Motorcycles in Portland,” he shares. “I’ve been to their shop a couple of times, and I love the whole idea of it. As a Canadian, the tuque is very important.”

Marc Jacobs knew fiance Charly Defrancesco would be caught off guard by his Chipotle proposal.

The American designer proposed to his long-term boyfriend last week (04Apr18) as the pair visited the Mexican restaurant chain to celebrate Charly’s birthday, where Marc orchestrated a flash mob-inspired dance to the hit song Kiss by Price before getting down on one knee.

Though many have questioned why he selected such an unusual venue to pop the question, Marc insisted there’s a simple explanation.

“It’s (Charly’s) favourite restaurant. We have an annual (tradition),” he told WWD. “I wanted to take him out for a romantic dinner on his birthday and he was like, ‘No, I want to go to Chipotle.’ So I knew I had to (propose) somewhere where he wouldn’t suspect that I was going to do that. And then I organised a flash mob to be there, but he didn’t know anything about that. So I was successful about that.”

Marc celebrated his own birthday on Saturday night, after Charly organised a surprise party to commemorate his new fiance’s 55th on 9 April. The event featured an array of celebrity attendees including Naomi Campbell, Lil’ Kim and Sofia Coppola who all descended on subMercer in New York City for the bash.

The fashion icon was also greeted by Debbie Harry, who was wheeled out sitting atop a three-tier birthday cake to lead the Happy Birthday singalong.

Though the original plan was for the Blondie frontwoman to emerge from the cake, alterations eventually had to be made.

“I couldn’t fit inside, it was too small,” she admitted after the party.

The celebration was even more of a surprise for Marc, who had been tricked into believing he was on his way to The Mercer Hotel for a dinner with 10 of Charly’s closest friends.

The American fashion designer got down on one knee at Mexican restaurant Chipotle on Wednesday night (04Apr18) and popped the question to his candlemaker beau by orchestrating a flash mob-inspired dance amongst a group inside the venue.

Following the routine, which was performed to the hit song Kiss by Prince, Jacobs got down on one knee to ask his partner to marry him.

The entire proposal was filmed, and the 54-year-old later uploaded the footage to his Instagram account.

“And this happened…’Charly Defrancesco will you marry me?’ #flashmobatchipotle #moves,” he captioned the video. “THANK YOU everyone for making this happen. And to my Ride or Die fiance @chardefrancesco I LOVE YOU (heart emoji).”

Though the words of the proposal cannot be heard in the video, DeFrancesco was all smiles as he nodded “yes” several times, as the pair ended the romantic video with a kiss.

Jacobs worked with Plural NYC, a creative services studio helping partners translate vision into engagement, to make his proposal a reality. The newly-engaged couple currently live together in New York’s West Village.
