Margot Robbie is to front the campaign imagery for Chanel’s upcoming scent, Gabrielle Chanel Essence.
The Oscar-nominated actress will be the face of the perfume, which marks the first time she’s fronted a fragrance for Chanel. She joins the likes of famous faces Keira Knightley, Kristen Stewart, and Lily-Rose Depp.
Back in May, it was announced that Margot had become the French house’s fragrance ambassador. She previously lead the campaign images for the Coco Neige fall collection last year, after she was named a Chanel fashion ambassador.
Gabrielle Chanel Essence was created by the luxury brand’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge and the scent contains jasmine, ylang-ylang, orange blossom and tuberose. According to WWD, the fragrance “is meant to be an olfactory interpretation of Gabrielle Chanel”, the founder of the fashion house.
The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star is a longtime fan of Chanel, and the 28-year-old was a muse of the late Karl Lagerfeld. She was also the last brand ambassador picked by the legendary designer, who died in February at the age of 85.
When she was tapped to front Chanel’s Coco Neige collection, dedicated to winter sports and apres-ski, Margot confessed she was overwhelmed when shooting the campaign images.
“This shoot was one of the greatest experiences of my career. The energy and vibe on set was so wonderful and collaborative,” she told WWD last year. “One of the first things Karl Lagerfeld said to me was that we never need to take ourselves too seriously. He has such a creative mind and he knows exactly what he wants and the minute he captured it, we were moving onto the next shot. It was amazing.”
Gabrielle Chanel Essence will launch on 1 September.
