Khalid has landed a global partnership with Reebok.

The Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter is teaming with bosses at the sportswear giant on the Sport the Unexpected campaign, set to be released in the spring.

Regarding the collaboration, Khalid explained that he has always been a fan of the label and appreciates the way the design team offer clothing and footwear with a “fresh twist”.

“I’m amped to partner with Reebok,” he said. “I love how they mix old and new and honour the classics with fresh twists. I hope we can inspire a new generation of people to be themselves and take creative chances.”

In a teaser image from his debut campaign, Khalid is seen posing in jeans, a white jacket, and white Reebok sneakers while standing next to a vintage car. Another shot sees him playing with his dog Maui, who is decked out in a specially designed tracksuit.

And Matt Blonder, vice president of marketing and digital brand commerce, is thrilled to welcome the 21-year-old into the Reebok fold.

“Khalid continues to be a beacon of originality, pride and imagination for today’s rising youth,” the executive praised. “Through his unique sound and a personal journey that took him across the country, Khalid authentically symbolises our common ethos – to inspire creativity and encourage experimentation. We’re privileged to welcome him to our family.”

Khalid follows in the footsteps of current Reebok brand ambassadors such as Nathalie Emmanuel, Gigi Hadid, Gal Gadot, Future, Cardi B, Danai Gurira, and Conor McGregor.

Tory Burch encouraged women to embrace their ambitions as she accepted an honour at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Monday.

The American fashion designer and founder of the Tory Burch Foundation was presented with The Visionary Award by Black Panther actress Danai Gurira at the Lincoln Center in New York, and during her speech she delivered a powerful message about being an ambitious woman and the obstacles she faced as she prepared to launch her eponymous label in 2004.

“When I was first launching the company, I presented my business plan to a group of men; they were the investors. I told them I was going to build a business that focused on purpose. They very concretely said to never mention the words business and social responsibility in the same sentence,” the 53-year-old said. “Of course, that only furthered my resolve. What they called charity work, I called a business plan.

“It was then that I realised that women are criticised for being ambitious, for exhibiting the exact same traits that men are praised for. And that is simply unacceptable… we must combat the unconscious bias at the root of all inequity. And we believe that starts with embracing ambition. I believe that starts with embracing ambition. Whether that means being a stay-at-home mom, a business executive or an activist, whatever ambition means to you.”

Burch, who set up her foundation to help empower female entrepreneurs, added that her dream was to move the needle towards equality and support women who wanted to make it in business.

“To all the women that are here tonight, all of you that have a dream, I want you to remember that the world will say ‘no’ to you in so many different ways. Your job is to keep saying ‘yes’ to yourself,” she concluded. “Because I feel like we’re just beginning, and the conversation is so important. So thank you so much for this honour.”

Martin Freeman: ‘I will be returning for Black Panther 2’

Martin Freeman believes he will be reprising the role of Everett K. Ross in the next Black Panther movie.

The Sherlock actor first played the CIA operative, who had been tasked to control and regulate the actions of the Avengers, in Captain America: Civil War, and returned for 2018’s Black Panther, where he was injured in the line of duty and saved by Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, before going on to help Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa and his forces battle Michael B. Jordan’s antagonist Erik Killmonger.

Original director Ryan Coogler has signed on to direct a follow-up, but further details are currently unknown. However, in a new chat with Collider, the British actor said he expected to be back for the sequel.

“As far as I know, I will be returning,” he shared. “As far as I know, I will be in another Black Panther. That’s my understanding. As to when that will happen, I don’t know.”

It isn’t known when the sequel will be released, but as it didn’t appear on Marvel’s slate for 2020 and 2021 during their San Diego Comic-Con presentation, it’s likely it won’t be due until at least 2022.

Alongside Freeman, other castmembers expected to return for the sequel include Wright, Boseman, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, and Winston Duke.

Last year, Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Entertainment Weekly the plot for the sequel was coming together and he teased that audiences would be seeing more of Wright’s Shuri.

“One of the favourite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two. There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one,” he said.

Emilia Clarke turned down the lead role in Fifty Shades of Grey because she didn’t want to get naked onscreen again.

The British actress was among the stars considered to play Anastasia Steele in the 2015 adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel, with the film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

However, Emilia has now shared that she rejected an offer to portray the leading lady as she was sick of being asked questions about disrobing for hit TV series Game of Thrones, in which she played Daenerys Targaryen.

“Well, Sam (Taylor-Johnson) is a magician. I love her, and I thought her vision was beautiful. But the last time that I was naked on camera on (Game of Thrones) was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman,” she said during The Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress Roundtable, which also included Patricia Arquette, Michelle Williams, Christine Baranski, Danai Gurira and Niecy Nash. “And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character – I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my t**s, for God’s sake. So, that coming up, I was like, ‘I can’t.'”

Emilia went on to explain that she also feared being “pigeonholed” in Hollywood.

“I did a minimal amount and I’m pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, ‘No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation,’ and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, ‘No, you can’t keep asking me this question,'” the 32-year-old commented.

Anastasia was ultimately played by Dakota Johnson, while the part of Christian Grey went to Jamie Dornan. The duo reprised their roles for the two follow-up films in the franchise; 2017’s Fifty Shades Darker and 2018’s Fifty Shades Freed.

Danai Gurira has declared her love for her “Marvel family” as the Avengers series wraps up.

Avengers: Endgame, which features dozens of the franchise’s most popular characters, marks the last film in the current phase of the superhero series, with fans and critics all delighted with the final chapter when it hit cinemas earlier this month (Apr19).

In a chat with PorterEdit, Danai, who brought back her Black Panther alter ego Okoye for Anthony and Joe Russo’s swansong, gushed: “I love the Marvel family. I’ve had an amazing time working with all of them. And I love our fans.”

The 41-year-old will reportedly next be seen in Godzilla vs. Kong, which comes out in 2020, and she’s rumoured to getting ready to film the new Star Trek movie. A sequel to Black Panther has also been confirmed by Marvel bosses.

Reflecting on her training at New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, The Walking Dead actress shared how the institution taught her more than just how to act.

“The beauty of that programme, in addition to the wonderful people who were there with me like Sterling K. Brown and Mahershala Ali, is that we all come from this training where you leave your ego outside of the room,” she explained. “It’s about collaborating not cooperating, which is something one of my teachers always said. I’m pretty willing to have a really clear conversation about what I think works, and what doesn’t, and why. It’s always done with respect. You want to find the magic. How do you create the best environment for the magic to come out?”

Gemma Chan made sure she didn’t go hungry at the Oscars by stuffing a giant cookie in the pocket of her Maison Valentino dress.

The Crazy Rich Asians star wowed on the red carpet on Sunday (24Feb19) in her oversized hot pink gown and revealed she was fashionably practical when one reporter asked her if she had stashed anything in her dress.

“I wanted to be prepared,” she said. “You don’t get dinner.”

The actress paired her dress with Jimmy Choo shoes and Bvlgari jewellery.

Meanwhile, fellow Brit James McAvoy made a style statement at the Oscars by asking his pals, peers and idols to sign his white shirt.

The Scottish actor, who presented the award for Best Sound Editing to Bohemian Rhapsody alongside Black Panther actress Danai Gurira, asked every star he bumped into backstage to scribble on his clothing and showed off his collection of signatures in a bathroom selfie, before posing for the cameras at the Vanity Fair after party.

Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Sarah Paulson, Frances McDormand, Amy Adams, his Glass co-star Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael B. Jordan were among the many names he snagged and they all signed his shirt with a red marker pen he provided.

James reportedly found the Sharpie pen on the floor as he was enjoying a drink backstage after his presenting duties were over and decided to start collecting autographs.

The Glass star is now planning to auction the shirt off his own back for charity.

“I think we’ll probably try and sell it for charity,” James told Vanity Fair reporters on the red carpet.

Tom Ford has offered up a collection of satin and velvet pieces for his fall/winter 2019 collection.

The American designer kicked off New York Fashion Week on Wednesday night (06Feb19) with a show held at the Park Avenue Armory, and the presentation drew in a number of celebrities, including Karlie Kloss, Poppy Delevingne, Ansel Elgort, Danai Gurira, Odell Beckham Jr., Sebastian Stan, Joe Alwyn, and Rich the Kid.

Regarding the theme of the range, Ford explained that he had decided to tone down his signature glamorous aesthetic in favour of a subtler feel, with his decision influenced by the uncertainty surrounding U.S. politics and the controversial policies of President Donald Trump at the moment.

“I’ve never really been a designer who’s talked about a moment in time, how that’s influenced what I design, but you can’t escape the news,” he said, according to Vogue.com. “I feel frustrated and agitated and exhausted. And I don’t want to wear anything particularly challenging or anything particularly aggressive.”

To begin, model Anok Yai opened the show in aubergine-hued satin trousers, a periwinkle shirt, satin pink platform pumps, a light pink neck tie and a purple faux fur hat.

A series of similar outfits followed, each sticking with the same colour palette except for touches of brown, steel grey or Champagne gold. Gigi Hadid strutted her stuff in red satin trousers, a red velvet blazer and plum-coloured top, while Joan Smalls modelled a black tuxedo with white faux fur hat.

Part way through the spectacle, Ford introduced a line of head-to-toe black ensembles consisting of satin trench coats, sharply tailored trousers, leather-look trousers and hoodies, while to conclude, the designer offered up a range of sleek evening dresses, with highlights including a black gown with chain detailing on the bodice, a floaty lilac number and the finale piece, a silver gown with cape detail.

New York Fashion Week continues on Thursday with shows from Tadashi Shoji, Elie Tahari, and Badgley Mischka.

Gigi Hadid has shared a glimpse of what looks like a new design collaboration with Reebok.

The model has been associated with the sportswear brand since October 2016, when she was recruited to front the body positive #PerfectNever campaign. She also starred in Reebok Classic’s Always Classic spring 2018 ads, and appeared alongside Ariana Grande, Gal Gadot and Danai Gurira in the label’s #BeMoreHuman initiative earlier this month (Jul18).

And now it looks like Gigi is taking on a more creative role.

In a recent Instagram video prior to one of the company’s events, the 23-year-old could be seen carrying a black athletic bag labelled Reebok x Gigi Hadid, which suggests the fashion star is the brains behind the piece.

When Reebok first signed Gigi, executives predicted she would “empower women by challenging them to express themselves to the fullest through bold, fearless style and to be confident enough to embrace their uniqueness,” but so far neither party have commented on collaboration rumours.

This wouldn’t be Gigi’s first design gig, having teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger in a partnership lasting four seasons, concluding with a presentation at the label’s Milan show in February. And according to Cosmopolitan, the star was overwhelmed with emotion before unveiling the final collection.

“I walked into Tommy’s dressing room this morning, and we both had to kind of not talk about it, because you’d start tearing up,” she reportedly said prior to the show.

Titled Drive, the show was a homage to Tommy’s passion for racing cars, and also a nod to his partnership with Formula One team Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. Gigi, who opened and closed the show, was joined on the runway by her sister Bella, Winnie Harlow, Hailey Baldwin and Joan Smalls.

Danai Gurira stays fit for her mental wellbeing as well as her physical.

The Black Panther actress stuns on the cover of the new issue of Women’s Health, showing off her gym-honed physique in an Off-White swimsuit.

Talking about her attitude to fitness, Danai admitted: “If I haven’t worked out, if I haven’t exercised and connected with my body in some way, it chips away at my feeling of wellbeing.”

She also dished on her exercise routine, which involves four sessions a week with trainer AJ Fisher, as well as yoga classes and jogging with her dog Papi.

And the 40-year-old’s hard work has certainly paid off.

“Sometimes it’s so intense I can’t remember what we did,” she said of her time with AJ, who she met through one of her Walking Dead co-stars.

“It’s not like, ‘Oh, I’m in so much pain from that.’ It’s like ‘Oh, I feel the strength in my core, I feel the strength in my back’,” she added of feeling sore afterwards.

Their sessions revolve around circuit training, Pilates moves, paired muscle training and glute workouts, and while training, Danai wears a heart rate monitor and she often uses resistance bands, which she also always travels with so she can work out wherever and whenever.

The actress is proud of her muscles, and says more women should “tap into” their strength.

“As women, we’re not always encouraged to find the full extent of our physical power. There’s something so exciting about tapping into that part of ourselves,” she smiled.

Black Panther has inspired Danai Gurira to make more African-themed movies

Actress Danai Gurira is determined to bring more African stories to the screen after portraying a warrior in Marvel blockbuster Black Panther.

The 40 year old played tough Okoye in the film and admits the character and the project itself has inspired her to make more projects about her roots.

“I definitely want to get more African stories on the screen – big and small; it’s very important to me,” she tells Ebony.com. “That is definitely something that is on my heart to see through. I have to see it through. That’s a big thing right in front of me that I feel very called to complete and to get into the full process of, which I am now in.”

Black Panther has broken box office records around the world and Danai is thrilled by the response to the blockbuster.

“I think one of the most important things about Panther, one of the most beautiful things about what I witnessed and the response that I received, was that there was a lot of beauty in the way it resonated across the world,” she tells the outlet.

“But I think one of the things that’s been really important to me is that there’s been a reclamation – like a reclaiming that people are doing (things); of who they are and what they’re doing and what their roots are. It’s a celebration and an understanding that our roots deserve respect.

“Hopefully, that compels and inspires the great artistic minds that we have in the African diaspora – that it inspires them to know that there are stories they must tell. When we can do that, we are going to have so much more of a beautiful landscape of our own representation. That, to me, is exciting.”

“I think of the little girl in Liberia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe or the Congo who will never have the opportunity I’m standing in,” the actress adds. “She looks just like me, but she’ll never stand in these shoes. It’s not right. The least I can do is do my best for her. So that motivates me.”
