Katie Holmes won’t ever let go of her prom dress from 1997.

The Dawson’s Creek actress is known for her chic yet relaxed aesthetic, famously pulling off a Khaite cashmere bra and cardigan last August.

But when it comes to her favourite outfits, Katie admitted in an interview for the April 2020 issue of U.S. InStyle magazine that she still loves the “grunge” look she wore to her senior dance in the late 1990s.

“I went through this phase as a kid where I changed my clothes 10 times a day. I think I drove my mother crazy,” she shared of experimenting with fashion while growing up in Ohio. “But I loved my prom dress senior year. It was a long gold lace dress from Cache, that store in the mall. This was 1997, so it was grunge time. Was I cool enough to wear my dress with Doc Martens? No, I wasn’t. Did I want to? Yes, I did. I still have it in a storage unit.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Katie opened up about how she incorporates self-care into her daily routine. She’s a big fan of dance and boxing classes, as well as hot yoga, and since turning 41 in December, has put more effort into her skincare regime.

“I’m basically always putting lotion on,” the star laughed. “I do all that Dr. Barbara Sturm stuff: hyaluronic, face brightening, face cream, skin cream. It’s so vain. But that happens. It kind of hits you…. I used to get away with no make-up. When I was a teenager and a young actress, it was about being sort of grungy. Now I’m like, ‘Oh god, I have to do stuff!’ It sounds so superficial.”

Katie Holmes purchased her headline-grabbing cashmere bra because she wanted to feel “sexy”.

The Dawson’s Creek actress courted a lot of media attention back in August when she stepped out in New York City wearing a Khaite cardigan and matching bra.

Pictures of Katie in the casual look went all over the Internet, but in an interview for the April 2020 issue of U.S. InStyle magazine, she explained that she simply decided to wear the outfit because she thought it would give her a confidence boost.

“Honestly, I wasn’t feeling so sexy. And I saw that and was like, ‘Sexy. I can do that!’ I thought it would be good if I was in a cabin sitting by the fire and wore the (matching) sweater over it. That’s how my brain works,” she said of purchasing the ensemble. “But then I was like, ‘Oh, wait, I’m not in a cabin, and I’m not going to a cabin.’ I still thought I could pull it off, though. I had noticed other people wearing bras with blazers.”

Katie chose to leave the cardigan mostly unbuttoned and styled in an off-the-shoulder manner. But The Secret: Dare to Dream star insisted she hadn’t planned for the look to be so provocative.

“I didn’t want to get into trouble with my (daughter, Suri). We were school shopping, and I was just trying to hail a cab on Sixth Avenue. It looked way more glamorous than it was,” the 40-year-old laughed.

Elsewhere in the chat, Katie noted that she also wore a minimalist Khaite design to the American Australian Association Arts Awards in January. Yet, the mother-of-one is open to wearing a little more sparkle too.

“I’m not going to lie, I thought J.Lo’s costumes during the (Super Bowl) Halftime Show were absolutely incredible. I watched her (Instagram) story where they were putting on all the Swarovski crystals,” she smiled.

Busy Philipps won’t promote products on Instagram if she hasn’t tested them herself.

The Dawson’s Creek actress is known for documenting the ups and down of her life on Instagram Stories, through which she regularly gives her two million followers unfiltered access to unretouched photos and videos.

Thanks to her status as an Instagram celebrity, Busy is often approached by brands to promote their products on her page, but she will only agree to the deal if she has tested the item and approves of it.

“If I haven’t used a product before I always ask (for the brand to) send it because I want to know that the thing I’m going to represent is based in truth,” she explained to DailyMail.com. “I think that one of the reasons why my social media has been successful and why I have been successful is because we have been really picky in terms of the brand deals I choose. I’m just not a person whose interested in lying in order to make money, and I think that the people – mostly women – who follow me fundamentally understand that and get that sense from me.”

The 40-year-old, who is a longtime ambassador for skincare brand Olay, currently stars in the company’s latest marketing imagery alongside comedian Lilly Singh and model Denise Bidot. The campaign is the first to feature the Olay Skin Promise logo, which means the photos have been unretouched, and Busy found the job found empowering.

“For me as a woman who has turned 40, and (has) never done Botox or filler… I have had moments where I’ve seen flawless skin with zero fine lines and thought, “Oh is that what I’m supposed to look like?'” she shared. “Doing this campaign and being involved with Olay has really empowered me to think of my skin as one of my strengths and (to see that) the way it is naturally can be even more beautiful than some thing that’s not real.”

Katie Holmes “sometimes” works out with her daughter Suri Cruise.

The Dawson’s Creek actress has opened up about her daily regime in a cover interview for the December 2019 issue of U.S. Shape magazine, noting she tries to hit the gym four times per week and enjoys spinning, boxing, yoga, and dance-based classes.

However, Katie also shared that she and 13-year-old Suri, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise, will occasionally exercise together.

“Sometimes I work out with my daughter,” she told the publication. “It just depends on the day. We have our routines, and occasionally they overlap. But I don’t force her to work out with me because I know that’s lame.”

Katie went on to explain that she pushes herself to exercise regularly because it helps her focus on the day ahead. Yet, she tries to make quiet time a priority too.

“I’m a big believer in self-care. It’s better for everybody if you’re taking care of yourself,” the 40-year-old insisted. “Those moments are really worth it. I like to get massages. I also have a favourite daily ritual: I take 20 minutes in the morning to write down a list of the things I’m grateful for and listen to calming music. It’s kind of a meditation.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Katie spoke about her desire to abide by a healthy diet filled with fruit, vegetables, fish, and salad – though she isn’t afraid to indulge from time to time.

“My favourite food is nachos. I love dessert too – cakes, candy. And sometimes a good hot fudge sundae goes a long way,” she smiled.

Katie Holmes didn’t expect paparazzi pictures of her wearing a cashmere cardigan and matching bra to attract so much attention.

The Dawson’s Creek actress caused a stir when she was spotted out in New York in August wearing a dark oatmeal Khaite cardigan which she had barely buttoned up, showing that she wasn’t wearing a top underneath and simply a cashmere bra from the same brand.

Katie wore the cardigan while she was interviewed for the cover of Elle U.K. magazine, and she explained she didn’t expect her outfit, which also featured blue jeans, black mules, and a black cross-body bag, to garner so much attention.

“I just woke up and put it on. It’s so cosy. Feel it… I’m not wearing the bra with it today. I bought it (the bra) because I thought it was cool. The cardigan’s so big, it’s cute to just wear the bra underneath it,” she said, shaking her head. “I wasn’t expecting it to be something people would talk about… I just put it on and left the house.”

The 40-year-old only found out about the fuss online through a friend because she never looks herself up on the Internet.

“I was like… ‘OK’… I feel like my time is better spent watching an old film, reading a great book, spending time with friends and family. That is somebody else’s version of me, and I can’t do anything about that,” the star added.

The soft cup bralette retails for $520 (£403) and the cardigan $1,540 (£1,194). Khaite only offers it in one colour and it sold out soon after the snaps hit the Internet.

Speaking to Vogue in September, the actress praised the company by saying, “I think they do such a good job with creating beautiful luxury items. They are very accessible and classic so you can have it for a long time, and I like to shop that way. I’m not always buying new stuff and I can wear it again.”

Michelle Williams avoided TV roles after Dawson’s Creek because she didn’t fully enjoy the experience of working on the teen drama.

The four-time Oscar nominated actress played Jen Lindley on the U.S. series, alongside James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson, which ran from 1998 to 2003.

Since it came to an end, she has enjoyed huge success on the big screen, in films like Manchester by the Sea, Shutter Island and My Week with Marilyn, and in a chat with Patricia Clarkson for Variety, the 38-year-old explained why she’s actively sought only movie roles for the past 16 years.

“Doing Dawson’s Creek for six-and-a-half years, while it was an incredible learning experience – we did 22 episodes a year, and you’d be getting scripts at the last minute and you had zero input,” she explained. “It was a little like a factory job.

“I don’t think I’ve done television in between then and now because of a fear of loss of input.”

However, that all changed when she was offered mini-series Fosse/Verdon, about choreographer/ director, Bob Fosse, and Gwen Verdon, one of the greatest Broadway dancers of all time.

“When (Fosse/Verdon) came around, people had been saying for a long time, ‘Television is different now.’ And I could see that that was true and that it was something that I should open myself up to,” she shared.

Patricia first met the Brokeback Mountain star on the set of The Station Agent in 2003, and gave the young actress some valuable advice that Michelle has never forgotten.

“We were out to dinner before shooting the next day, and I had ordered some atrocious meal. You were like, ‘No Chinese food before you have to shoot in the morning. Salt,'” Michelle recalled.

“And you don’t eat Chinese food. I don’t either,” the 59-year-old quipped.

Katie Holmes uses New York Fashion Week trends to help her work on her ever-evolving personal style.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress attended the Saks Fifth Avenue It List Townhouse event hosted by Harper’s Bazaar and American Express during the week-long fashion extravaganza in the Big Apple, and searched the five-storey venue for new clothing inspiration.

“I like to get one or two really trendy things each season, and I haven’t decided which trends I want to do yet,” she explained to People at the event.

The 39-year-old star also attended multiple runway shows, including catwalks for Zimmermann, Alice + Olivia and Tory Burch, during New York Fashion Week, and although she loves seeing new designs, Katie admits it’s been hard for her to nail down her personal style tastes in the modern age of social media.

“I think being so inundated with social media, you’re constantly being shown images of what other people have or what other people look like,” she shared. “I think, ‘Wow, their lives are so perfect’.”

However, the actress likes to take her time and doesn’t put too much pressure on trying to craft perfect looks all the time.

“Take time to develop different parts of yourself, and your style will come,” she said. “Everything will come. It takes longer than you think. Just be good to yourself. Appreciate yourself instead of comparing yourself.”

“To develop anything, it takes a long time,” Holmes added.

As well as social media, there’s another Internet no-no for Katie as she seeks out great looks – online shopping.

“I don’t buy anything online,” she said. “I’m not up late at night online shopping. I like to go into stores. That space is a reflection of the designer.”

Busy Philipps is teaching her children how to follow a balanced diet by allowing them to eat cookies when they don’t fancy fruit.

The former Dawson’s Creek actress recently admitted that she’s never had Botox or injectables, though she does enjoy beauty treatments like face masks to help combat wrinkles and fine lines.

And when it comes to her diet and fitness levels, Busy likes to stay healthy but is also happy to indulge when she’s in the mood – a mentality she is passing on to her daughters Birdie, 10, and Cricket, five.

“My whole philosophy in life is about trying to be balanced and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realised that’s the only way that anything is sustainable – any diet, any exercise programme, you have to be able to allow yourself balance,” she explained in a chat with Shape. “And so why shouldn’t the same thing apply to my children, you know? Obviously, we try to offer fruit when they want something sweet, but if they don’t want the fruit I allow them to have the cookie! And I’m okay with that. I wanted cookies too when I was a kid.”

The 39-year-old adds that she doesn’t want her girls, who she shares with husband Marc Silverstein, to develop a “weirdness” with their food or their bodies, and, as their role model, she wants to lead by example.

Busy recently partnered with juice brand Tropicana to launch Tropicana Kids, a new line of organic fruit drinks, and has been giving them to Birdie and Cricket to cool down in the Los Angeles heat.

“It’s 45 per cent juice and filtered water, so I’m into it,” she smiled.

Actress Busy Philipps rang in her 39th birthday with pink hair.

The former Dawson’s Creek star celebrated her birthday on Monday (25Jun18) and shared her dye disaster with fans.

Posting a picture of herself sporting colourful hair on Instagram Story, she wrote: “Guys. I had a hair dye mishap on my birthday. Accident. I used a new dye and it’s like bright fuchsia. Oh no,” Busy told her fans. “But it will fade. You know, whatever. Maybe this is who I am now. 39. This is me.”

Hours later, she returned to social media to confess her new pink look was growing on her: “Look at what the light did now,” she wrote under another selfie. “Thank you for all your kind and sweet birthday wishes. I’m happy I’m here.”

Busy loves to share moments from her life with followers on social media and recently posted video of a mummy meltdown after she realised she had left her daughter Birdie’s cuddly toys behind following a vacation to Hawaii, but there’s a few things that are sacred to her that she’ll never open up about on Instagram or Twitter.

“There’s some private stuff that I don’t talk too intensely about,” she told Health magazine. “There’s stuff with (husband) Marc (Silverstein) and our relationship that I don’t think is appropriate for me to put out publicly because of my children.”

The actress also refuses to post her two kids’ “horrible moments”, stating, “People are like, ‘Your girls always look so sweet’, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, because I’m not gonna post their horrible moments for you to see!’ That’s not fair to them.”

Joshua Jackson has come clean about his addiction to Mexican chain Chipotle in a bid to trick his brain into giving up fast food.

The Affair star has been trying to eat healthier, but his dependency on menu items from restaurant’s menu has consistently overtaken his will, and now he has discovered a Chipotle close to where he is performing his Broadway revival of Children of a Lesser God, there’s little chance he can stay away.

“I have a closet Chipotle addiction, and there’s one two blocks away from the theatre,” he tells GQ. “That’s where I go when it’s all going wrong. I’m doing my best to be as good as I can. There’s a little health food mart around the corner from the theatre as well.

“The good side of my brain says, ‘Go to the health-food mart’. The bad side of my brain says, ‘Go to Chipotle!'”

The former Dawson’s Creek actor admits the bad side of his brain often takes hold when it comes to food and drink, citing rye whiskey as his go-to method of dozing off when he’s having trouble getting to sleep.

“A glass of rye is… my version of a sleeping pill, I guess,” the Canadian star shares, “but rye is water to Canadians. Michter’s Rye.”

Joshua, who hails from Vancouver, British Colombia pays homage to his heritage in his clothing too, admitting he is addicted to well-fitted headgear.

“This will only matter to a Canadian, but my brand of tuque (beanie) is generally from See See Motorcycles in Portland,” he shares. “I’ve been to their shop a couple of times, and I love the whole idea of it. As a Canadian, the tuque is very important.”
