Dolly Parton and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Nina West have partnered on a capsule collection to raise funds for charity.

The country music legend and LGBTQ+ activist have joined forces on the three-piece Dolly x Nina: Kindness is Queen line, which is comprised of a limited-edition T-shirt, tote bag, and enamel pin.

Each item features the Kindness Is Queen slogan, with West hoping the concept will “foster kindness and hope during this difficult time”.

“When I approached Dolly with the idea for a collaboration between the Nina West Foundation and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, I was looking for an opportunity to continue to spread my message of kindness while building on the work I’ve done through my foundation supporting LGBTQ+ youth and families,” said West, the stage name of Andrew Levitt. “Dolly is the Ultimate Queen of Kindness and I am so thrilled that she agreed to this collaboration! We both want to spread the message that Kindness is Queen and that being kind is something that is desperately needed in our world right now!”

Items are available from West’s website, with pieces costing between $14.99 (£12) and $34.99 (£28). Proceeds from sales will benefit Parton’s Imagination Library, a programme that promotes literacy by providing free high-quality books to children of all ages, and West’s The Nina West Foundation, which supports organisations and services that aid LGBTQ+ youth and families.

West, 41, began dabbling in drag in 2001 but rose to prominence in the U.S. during an appearance on the eleventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she placed sixth and won Miss Congeniality.

Dolly Parton plans to pen a film about her mega-hit I Will Always Love You if her new Netflix anthology series is a hit.

The country music icon recently turned eight of her songs into mini-movies for Heartstrings, which debuted on the streaming giant on Friday, and she is considering doing the same with her classic 1974 song – which she told Elvis Presley he couldn’t have.

Dolly knew she was right to turn down a bid from Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, to record the tune when Whitney Houston’s version, which was released on The Bodyguard soundtrack in 1992, became one of the best-selling singles of all time.

“Colonel Tom said I had to give away half the publishing, because Elvis didn’t record anything unless he had half the publishing,” she recently told late night host Seth Meyers. “I told him I couldn’t do it, because I was leaving that for my family… After Whitney recorded it, I realised that that was the best choice.

“I did write a song later, called I Dreamed About Elvis, and I had an Elvis sound-alike sing with me on it and we did sing I Will Always Love You, so maybe someday I’ll put that out, and eventually on the Netflix (series), if this goes on, I’ll do a movie about I Will Always Love You too.”

Dolly wrote I Will Always Love You as a fond farewell to her mentor Porter Wagoner, to thank him for discovering her and inviting her to join him on his hit TV show.

Julianne Hough borrowed some earrings from Dolly Parton for the premiere of her new Netflix series Heartstrings on Tuesday night.

The Rock of Ages star couldn’t find the jewels she had planned to wear to the screening held at Parton’s Tennessee theme park, Dollywood, so the country music icon dug up a pair of sparklers that would perfectly match her minidress.

“We couldn’t find my earrings, and so Dolly lent me her earrings for the night,” Hough told Entertainment Tonight. “(I said to Parton’s team), ‘I lost my earrings! I bet you any money you’re going to have some really big chandelier earrings, do you have any? And they were like, ‘Yup!'”

Hough went on to note that she was open to offering the Jolene singer some free dance lessons as a thank you.

“That is my mission in life,” the dance professional smiled. “Honestly, what she does with her music, she lets people feel completely expressed in what she does with her music. I do that with my body and dance, and so we each have our own specific way to help people feel expressed, but yes, Dolly, if you ever want a little hip action dance lesson, I’m here for you. You lent me your earrings, I will give you some dance lessons, heck yeah. I owe you!”

The anthology series Heartstrings is inspired by the stories and memories behind some of Parton’s biggest hits. Hough will play marriage wrecker Jolene in the first episode, set to premiere on 22 November, and the star noted that it was a dream come to true to sing alongside the 73-year-old.

“When you’re on stage with somebody, with that much of an artist, you can’t help but just get lost in it. You’re not performing anymore, you’re just in it, and, yeah, it was incredible,” she gushed. “To get a compliment from Dolly about my voice is the highest praise. She was just like, ‘Oh, my God, your voice is amazing,’ and I was like, ‘OK, this little ego back here that’s telling me I’m not good enough, well, Dolly said I am, so, boom!”

Scarlett Johansson would be interested in starring in a Dolly Parton movie, after the country singer suggested the actress play her in a biopic.

When she was interviewed recently about a potential movie adaptation of her life, the country music legend was asked who she’d want to see play her in the project, to which she replied either Scarlett or Reese Witherspoon.

The actress was asked about the prospect by Entertainment Tonight as she attended the Elle Women In Hollywood Awards on Monday, and admitted she wouldn’t rule it out.

“Those are big shoes to fill,” she replied. “Or, probably not. They are probably very tiny, dainty, sparkly fabulous shoes.”

While Scarlett has “never found a biopic that I felt compelled to try my hand at,” she added she’d be interested “just for the costumes alone!”

“She is quite a woman,” she said of the 9 to 5 star. “She’s a hard-working woman and she embodies everything that is fierce independence. So, I’m sure it would be a lot of work but it would be good work. So, maybe!”

The Avengers star is currently being kept busy in all aspects of her life, with work, motherhood and planning her wedding to Colin Jost. Of how she’s managing to balance it all, she smiled: “It’s very imbalanced. I think that is a rumour. There is no balance.”

Dylan McDermott was amazed by Dolly Parton’s signature scent when they worked together on Steel Magnolias.

During a recent appearance on TV show Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked the actor what he remembers most about his time alongside the country music superstar on the set of the 1989 drama.

In response, Dylan explained that he has never met anyone who uses perfume like Dolly.

“You know, you can’t believe the way Dolly Parton smells,” he smiled. “She mixes like seven different perfumes. So, each and every time you walk into the room, at least I did, I almost fainted.”

Andy then asked if Dolly wears “too much” fragrance, to which the 57-year-old insisted, “No, no, no, no. It smells that good.”

Meanwhile, fellow talk show guest Brooke Shields backed up Dylan’s opinion.

“It’s the perfect combination. It makes your mouth water,” she shared.

While Dolly often speaks about her unconventional skincare regime, it’s not known what fragrances she wears.

Yet, in the past, she was reported to be a fan of Gendarme fragrances and Mary Kay’s Intrigue, though the latter is now discontinued.

And in her 2012 book Dream More: Celebrate the Dreamer in You, Dolly divulged that she used all sorts of alternative products as make-up growing up.

“Until I was a teenager, I used red pokeberries for lipstick and a burnt matchstick for eyeliner. I used honeysuckle for perfume. We were raised in the Pentecostal Church of God and they believed that wearing make-up was sinful. My grandpa Jake, my mama’s dad, was a preacher. So, I had to sneak around and make myself look all pretty but then wash it off before they caught me,” the 73-year-old wrote.

Brandon Maxwell has opened up about his mental health struggles and revealed he sometimes feels “not relevant enough”.

The Texas-born designer recently took to Instagram to share an empowering message with his 518,000 followers and confessed that he sometimes struggles with anxiety.

“So many mornings I wake up and feel like I’m on the most turbulent airplane ride, just gripping the armrest and closing my eyes waiting to rise above the clouds and into the clear blue sky, counting every second until I hear that ding letting me know the seatbelt sign is off and the road ahead is bump-free,” he wrote alongside a vintage image of Dolly Parton, before admitting that he sometimes feels ” too big, too dense, not relevant enough, fading, unlovable”.

Maxwell then urged his fans to ignore what they see in magazines and on TV, as “no one has it easier than the other”.

“Each one of us wakes up every morning meeting the occasion to find the strength within ourselves to put two feet on the floor when the sun rises, to set out into a day that challenges us, forces us to face ourselves, our demons, our insecurities, our shortcomings, and finally, our strengths,” the 34-year-old continued. “What defines you today, tomorrow, and forever, is not what you didn’t do right, what success you didn’t achieve, how much money you didn’t or didn’t make, how many likes you did or didn’t get.”

A number of Maxwell’s celebrity followers praised him in the comments section, with Sarah Paulson writing, “This is incredible,” while January Jones added: “Beautiful words, thank you.”

His post comes as Anne Hathaway publicly shared how the Project Runway judge had sweetly embroidered the words, “Anne + 1” in a custom-made dress, with the Oscar winner having just announced her second pregnancy.

Jessie Buckley had no prior knowledge of country music before making Wild Rose.

The Irish singer/actress, who began her career in 2008 as a contestant on TV talent show I’d Do Anything, is appearing as Rose-Lynn in the film, about a musician from Glasgow, Scotland who dreams of becoming a Nashville star.

However, Jessie has now insisted she knew nothing about the music genre before signing on for her breakthrough role.

“I’d no relationship to it at all. I’ve always loved the blues, which I connect to Irish music, and I used to sing jazz before I went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA),” she recalled in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I think I prejudged country as being like, you know, (Irish singer) Daniel O’Donnell. But the film’s music supervisor Jack Arnold got together this amazing bunch of musicians … and along with the writer Nicole Taylor, who’s a hardcore country fan, they drowned my ears in the best stuff.”

Jessie went on to explain that Emmylou Harris’ To Daddy, a tune penned by Dolly Parton, was the first country song she learned. And she quickly immersed herself in the music, becoming inspired by the storytelling aspect.

“Country has taught me a lot about acting, actually, because you have to get out of your head and let images come to you when you perform,” the 29-year-old stated.

Elsewhere, Jessie spoke about the film and the way in which she relates to some elements of Rose-Lynn’s journey, especially when it comes to pursuing dreams and displaying vulnerability.

“I recognise Rose-Lynn in me at different moments in my life. There was something powerful in me I was afraid of, that I felt the need to experience, but I didn’t know how to channel that,” she added.

Wild Rose, also featuring Julie Walters, is now showing in cinemas.

Dolly Parton always sleeps with her make-up on in case of an emergency during the night.

The Hollywood superstar is never seen in public without her signature blonde locks perfectly coiffed and a full face of cosmetics. However, Dolly has now shared that she goes to bed with her make-up on, especially when travelling out of town.

“I clean my face in the mornings,” she commented in an interview with The New York Times. “You never know if you’re going to wreck the bus, you never know if you’re going to be somewhere in a hotel and there’s going to be a fire. So, I leave my make-up on at night and clean my face in the morning.”

In the chat, Dolly also discussed the new Wildwood Grove extension of her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

But the Jolene singer has yet to go on any of the rides, mostly because she’s worried about messing up her hair or outfit.

“I don’t ride the rides. I never have. I have a tendency to get motion sickness. Also, I’m a little bit chicken. With all my hair I got so much to lose, like my wig or my shoes. I don’t like to get messed up. I’m gonna have some handsome man mess it up, I don’t want some ride doing it,” the 73-year-old laughed.

While most dermatologists agree it is best for skin health to remove all make-up before hitting the hay, Dolly isn’t the only celebrity to follow in her footsteps.

Last year, Kim Kardashian confessed in a discussion with Busy Philipps that she regular sleeps with full glam.

“Oh, all the time,” the reality star said. “Like even if I can’t have glam the next day, I’ll sleep perfectly and maybe I’ll redo my skin, but I try to salvage it for two days.”

Lily Tomlin has joked she may not be around by the time a sequel to her movie 9 to 5 is made.

The 79-year-old actress – alongside co-star and fellow Hollywood icon Jane Fonda – opened up about the film during the Grace and Frankie panel at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, and she had “hope” for the long-rumoured project.

“(We’re) waiting for the script,” Fonda shared, while Tomlin quipped: “Everybody is very hopeful. We may not live to see it.”

The pair also revealed that they are still hard at work trying to get their 9 to 5 co-star Dolly Parton to guest star on their hit Netflix series.

The comedy, about three female secretaries who decide to get revenge on their tyrannical, sexist boss by abducting him and running the business themselves, was released in 1980.

A sequel has been discussed for years, but the trio’s busy schedules have hampered negotiations, and last year (18), Parton said that she, Tomlin and Fonda had all signed on for the 9 to 5 follow-up during an interview with ABC News’ Nightline.

“All these years we’ve talked about doing a sequel to 9 to 5, but it never made any real sense,” she shared. “Until just recently (with) all the equal work for equal pay and all the harassment in the workplace (backlash) – we decided that we are going to try to do another one.”

And Parton revealed that if the script was right, they wouldn’t hesitate to go ahead with the sequel.

“We’re trying to get the script and all that. Everybody is very interested, and we’ve all agreed that we’d love to do it, if it’s right,” she explained.
