Director Scott Derrickson has described Sam Raimi as a “great choice” for his rumoured replacement on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The filmmaker, who helmed the first mystical Marvel movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch back in 2016, left the sequel last month due to “creative differences”.

It was reported on Thursday that Raimi is now in the running to take over, after his hugely successful stint directing the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy from 2002 to 2007, and Derrickson couldn’t be happier with the speculation.

“I’ve worked with Sam Raimi. One of the nicest people I’ve known in the film business, and as a director, a true living legend,” he wrote on Twitter. “What a great choice to take over Doctor Strange.”

Last month, the 53-year-old confirmed he had departed the Doctor Strange sequel, but will still be serving as executive producer on the superhero blockbuster.

“Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences,” Derrickson shared on social media. “I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.”

If he signs on, the sequel will mark Raimi’s first time directing a film since 2013’s Oz the Great and Powerful.

Production on the sequel, which sees the return of Cumberbatch alongside Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Elizabeth Olsen, who will be playing her Avengers character Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, is scheduled to begin in May.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for release in May 2021.

Director Scott Derrickson has departed the Doctor Strange sequel due to “creative differences”.

The surprise announcement was made in the form of a statement from producers at Marvel Studios, in which it was revealed that Derrickson would be leaving the follow-up to the 2016 fantasy starring Benedict Cumberbatch, but would stay on as an executive producer.

“Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU),” a Marvel representative commented to Variety.

The filmmaker, who helmed the original movie, confirmed the news on Twitter, and shared a similar statement with his fans and followers.

“Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP,” he posted.

Production is still expected to start in May, with president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, serving as producer.

The team has already begun the search for Derrickson’s replacement.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to pair Cumberbatch’s titular character with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, while Benedict Wong is also attached.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated for release in May 2021.

Elizabeth Olsen is trying to become more confident about expressing her femininity with fashion.

In an interview with InStyle, the 30-year-old candidly shared that she was trying to overcome her aversion to typically female clothes, which can make her feel uncomfortable.

“Dresses make me feel a bit funny. I’m trying to get more confident with my feminine side. I just like everything to feel really easy and comfortable. Nothing fussy. I don’t like body-conscious clothing,” Elizabeth shared, adding that she describes her style as masculine and oversize.

“I feel very comfortable, but I don’t look sloppy. I look like I have a point of view and an opinion,” the Avengers: Endgame star stated.

Her perfect outfit is “oversize black cotton pants, a black button-up, and flats”, which is very similar to the style of her older sisters’ Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s fashion line, The Row.

The twins launched their label in 2006 and debuted their menswear collection last year. Their pieces focus on chic tailoring, denim and knits.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actress discussed recently turning 30 and explained what she had learned as she gets older.

“I think I was always trying to distract myself from being still,” Elizabeth reflected. “I feel like I cared about self-improvement in high school and then, in college, I was trying to get too many things done and not being as present as I think I could have been.”

Yara Shahidi brings her own cosmetics to photoshoots as not all make-up artists cater for her skin tone.

The actress, perhaps best known for playing Zoey Johnson on sitcom Black-ish, was recently named as a brand ambassador for Bobbi Brown and has been tapped to appear in the new Confident Beauty campaign alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Chinese star Ni Ni.

While Yara chose to team with Bobbi Brown due to the company’s extensive colour offerings in foundation and concealer, she has found that make-up artists don’t always carry the right shades for her.

“I love that more brands are doing this. There have been times when I got out of the make-up chair and my skin looked grey,” she recalled in an interview with U.S. Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s why I think every single person of colour usually brings their own make-up kit to set.”

In addition to building a reputation for her fun beauty looks, Yara is quickly becoming one to watch on the red carpet.

Of late, she has sported very glamorous ensembles from a diverse array of designers, including Prabal Gurung, Monse, and Balmain, but when it comes to what she wears when at home, the star prefers a much more relaxed vibe.

“By not showing skin, I’m making a statement,” the 19-year-old insisted. “My clothes need to have movement. For me, fashion is all about joy.”

In addition to appearing in Black-ish, Yara is working on her spin-off Grown-ish, and is voicing a character in animated series 3Below: Tales of Arcadia.

Yara Shahidi used to groom her eyebrows with mascara before she discovered brow gel.

Yara has now also filmed a beauty tutorial for Vogue.com, and in the clip, shared that she was late to the eyebrow game.

“Before I learned that people make products just for brows, I used to just put mascara on my brows,” she smiled, before demonstrating how she uses Bobbi Brown’s Natural Brow Shaper & Hair Touch-Up. “Brushing up brows, which is the one thing that I do every day.”

Yara went on to speak about some of her other go-to products, including SK-II’s Facial Treatment Mask and Bobbi Brown’s Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation. She also dabs on a little blush before she steps out, but always opts for lip gloss over lipstick.

“I’m a lip gloss person, I’ve always been a lip gloss person. Lipstick is cool (and) all, and sure you’ll see me in lipstick, but lip gloss is really where it’s at. It’s so pigmented and moisturising,” the 19-year-old shared.

Elsewhere in the video, Yara showed fans how she gets creative with her eyeliner placement on her face, and how she finds inspiration in all sorts of sources.

“I always say for beauty icons, of course, my momma, my nanna, were the first kind of representations I had, like what beauty has meant to me but then also just the world at large has been, people from Solange to Angela Bassett, anybody quite honestly. I’m always saving photos; I have a binder on my phone just called aesthetic in which I just save photos that inspire me,” she added.

Elizabeth Olsen wishes her naturally fine hair had a “crispy, wavy” texture.

The actress, known for playing Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, always looks picture-perfect, no matter if she is running errands or posing on the red carpet.

However, Elizabeth’s golden blonde tresses are actually quite “limp,” meaning that she has to rely on volumising products to gain any body.

“My natural hair is sad: It’s limp and really thick but really fine. I even try to sleep with it wet in hopes of giving it more body. But it looks weighed down, so it doesn’t get any wave. I wish I had crazy, frizzy, crispy wavy hair. I had it once, and I want it back,” she said in an interview with The New York Times. “I use a lot of volumising products. I use Virtue shampoo and conditioner, but I love not washing my hair. I have a bunch of dry shampoos. I have the Klorane powder that poofs on, and I like the Klorane sprays. I have the good old Psssst! one, too.”

In addition, Elizabeth swears by using Oribe’s texture spray and shine spray when she needs it.

And while the star has a whole bathroom cabinet stocked with her favourite skincare products, she also shared that she can’t do without French brand Biologique Recherche’s Serum Placenta, which contains hydrolysed placenta protein from porcine origin.

“Lately I’ve been having some weird chin issue. I’m not sure if it’s a rash or a breakout or something else. It’s been around for two months, so this morning I did something different. I used the micellaire water from Biologique Recherche, and then the P50 exfoliant,” the 30-year-old said. “Then I went to my refrigerator, where I have the placenta serum from the line, and put that on, thinking it would heal my chin. It’s one of those water-based serums, and it absorbs immediately. It sounds crazy, but Biologique Recherche works.”

Elizabeth is a fan of Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen SPF and Augustinus Bader’s creams too, and as a brand ambassador for Bobbi Brown, likes to use the company’s Face Base and Long-Wear Weightless Foundation in Beige 3 and Sand 2 to even out her skin tone.

Actress Elizabeth Olsen relies on serum infused with placenta to keep her face clear of breakouts.

The Avengers: Endgame star reveals her secret weapon for flawless skin is a $68 (£53) bottle of Biologique Recherche’s Serum Placenta, which she uses whenever pimples appear on her chin.

“It’s one of those water-based serums, and it absorbs immediately,” she told The New York Times. “It sounds crazy, but Biologique Recherche works.”

Elizabeth, who is the younger sister of child stars-turned-fashion icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, often seeks her siblings’ advice on wellness products, and reveals she needed all the help she could get before opting to go makeup free on her new TV series Sorry for Your Loss.

Biologique Recherche skincare specialist Natalya Dolgopolova explained the Serum Placenta product is so effective for the star because it helps to regenerate skin quickly.

“Placenta is highly active and regenerating for the cellular renewal of the epidermis,” she told PageSix. “The main ingredient is hydrolyzed placenta powder from animals. It is highly active. Placenta is naturally rich in cellular oligopeptides, which helps to regenerate skin and the result is smoother, firmer, more even skin tone.”

Although Elizabeth goes to extremes to keep her face clear of spots, she didn’t go overboard with diet and exercise while training for new Marvel Studios blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.

“The thing with Marvel is they never tell you to get into shape.” she explained. “They just hire the people and let them figure out the way to express the character. They will set you up with a trainer if you want, but that’s it.”

Elizabeth Olsen is thrilled to have been named an ambassador for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

The actress, who is the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, had her breakthrough in Hollywood with her role in 2011 film Martha Marcy May Marlene, and has since appeared in movies like Ingrid Goes West, Wind River, and the Avengers franchise.

Now, Elizabeth is about to make a splash in the beauty world, with the star announced as one of the new faces of the Estee Lauder-owned company.

“Very excited to announce my partnership with a brand I have always loved @bobbibrown! More to come!! #confidentbeauty #beautytruth#bbambassador,” she captioned a snap from the Confident Beauty marketing campaign on her Instagram page.

The picture shows Elizabeth posing alongside a bottle of Bobbi Brown’s Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation, with the collection recently expanded to include 12 new shades.

Bobbi Brown’s Confident Beauty marketing will also be showcasing the brand’s Intensive Skin Serum Foundation, with the star adding that she was pleased to be working with a label that shares her own values.

“It’s incredible to be part of a brand that has been so consistent and true to its identity in an industry that’s so inconsistent. Since the ’90s we have seen many trends come and go and come back again, and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has always been a timeless brand,” the 30-year-old said in a statement.

For the Confident Beauty campaign, Elizabeth is joined by Black-ish actress Yara Shahidi and Chinese star NiNi. Sandra Main, president of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, explained how proud she is to be working with three women who celebrate individual beauty and female empowerment.

“Remaining true to our brand’s core essence, each of these powerhouse women are emblematic of the modern Bobbi Brown consumer – confident, individually beautiful and defining success on their terms,” she said.

The star-studded Avengers: Infinity War cast only found out how the Marvel blockbuster really ended minutes before filming the shocking scenes.

Actress Elizabeth Olsen, who portrays Scarlet Witch, reveals she and her co-stars, including Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Pratt, all learned the fate of their characters from directors Joe and Anthony Russo at the same time on set.

“I found out from the Russos exactly what was going to happen and it wasn’t until we shot it on that day we learned what the ending was,” she told fans at the ACE Comic-Con event in Seattle, Washington on Saturday (23Jun18).

“They took us into a van – all of us – we were in a van with air conditioning because it was very hot and they told us how the movie was going to end and no one knew. And they were like, ‘Now we’re shooting it. Go!’ and we were like, ‘How are we supposed to interpret that?'”

The actors weren’t the only ones stunned by the how the story unfolds – cinema-goers were also left gobsmacked after watching the closing scenes, in which half of the universe is randomly wiped out by Josh Brolin’s supervillain Thanos.

Fans will have to wait until next year (19) to find out what happens to the Avengers in the currently-untitled Infinity War sequel.

Elizabeth’s comments emerge months after Benedict, who plays Doctor Strange, claimed he was one of the lucky few who got to read the entire top secret script before anyone else.

However, it seems the Brit may have been duped, as Joe Russo recently confessed the directors had mocked up “fake” scenarios to avoid the real plot from leaking.

“He (Cumberbatch) thinks he read the whole script,” the filmmaker told Channel NewsAsia. “We wrote fake scenes, fake drafts of the script and delivered them to the actors.”
