Jameela Jamil has insisted she has no real interest in “feeling beautiful”.
The Good Place actress opened up about body positivity during a chat with Entertainment Tonight for the publication’s Unfiltered series, and admitted that, for her, societal expectations of physical beauty are not a concern.
“I don’t ever really feel beautiful. Also, I’m not interested in feeling beautiful,” she insisted. “I just like feeling like myself, which is normally when I’m lying in my boyfriend (James Blake’s) arms. I’m not interested in beauty terribly.
“I like fashion and make-up and I like playing with colours and I used to paint and so I think I find that quite fun, but yeah, I never really feel beautiful. I prefer to feel funny or smart or happy.”
Jameela, who founded the I WEIGH social media movement, which aims to inspire women to discuss the aspects of their lives they struggle with, added that she’s keen to push boundaries and prove she’s “capable of (living) outside of a man’s dictation of my value”.
“As women we’re always told what we’re capable of, which is not much, and that’s why we’re told we have to be so beautiful ’cause we have no other value,” the 33-year-old reflected.
Jameela has battled her own body confidence issues in the past, previously revealing her battle with eating disorder anorexia and attempts at taking her own life.

Lana Del Rey purchased her outfit for the 2020 Grammy Awards during a trip to the mall.
The Video Games hitmaker, who was nominated for two prizes at the annual music event held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night, walked the red carpet alongside her new boyfriend, Live PD star Sean Larkin.
Lana looked stunning in a silver beaded gown with a vintage vibe, but during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she admitted she had picked up the number at the “last minute”.
“(I purchased it) at the mall. I saw this, and I loved it,” she commented, though didn’t divulge the brand or exactly where she spotted it. “This is a last-minute dress, but I love it.”
The reporter then went on to note that the colour of Lana’s dress matched Sean’s silver hair, to which she replied, “Yeah, it’s very cool.”
Elsewhere in the chat, the 34-year-old noted that she had the gown altered to her shape before she stepped out at the star-studded bash.
“I tailored it right there,” said Lana, before gesturing to her waist area. “So, you know, a little mix and match. … We’re making it all work.”
Lana’s hair was styled into a chic updo by Sheridan Ward, while make-up artist Pamela Cochrane ramped up the retro feel of her ensemble by giving her dewy skin and dramatic winged eye make-up. The beauty pro used the Ultimate Taupe and Statuesque eyeshadow shades from Pat McGrath Labs on the star’s lids, before FetishEyes Mascara on her lashes. She also applied Lip Fetish Lip Balm to the lips and added a touch of colour with the Permagel Ultra Lip Pencil in Buff, a warm nude.

Blake Lively wore a necklace featuring a 50-carat emerald to the New York premiere of The Rhythm Section.
The actress, who plays a woman veering down a path of self-destruction after a tragic plane crash kills her family in the Reed Morano-directed film, opted for a black velvet Dolce & Gabbana gown and matching black gloves for the debut, held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Monday night.
Blake topped off her ensemble with bling from Lorraine Schwartz, and in an Instagram post, the jeweller shared that the large necklace was made of diamonds and pearls, and also contained a one-of-a-kind Colombian emerald.
“Blake looks stunning and is wearing #lorraineschwartz #diamond and #pearl with #linkchain and a 50 carat #colombian #emerald,” Lorraine captioned a snap of her friend. “Just saw #therhythmsection starring #blakelively. What a performance!!! It was great! Seriously she was so amazing! So hardcore, captivating, intense, and full of action – I was grabbing on to the person next to me!”
And while speaking to reporters on the red carpet, Blake admitted that she has rarely had the chance to get dressed up for events since welcoming her third child with husband Ryan Reynolds last year.
“A transformation – what do you think I normally look like?” the 32-year-old replied to Entertainment Tonight when asked about her glamorous outfit. “It is. I don’t look like this.”
Meanwhile, it appears Blake is making gloves her new go-to accessory, as she also wore a brown pair with a blush trench coat and matching boots while out and about in New York City before the premiere.

Jennifer Aniston pulled out all of the stops at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday night.
The 50-year-old, who won the prize for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role in The Morning Show, stood out in a vintage white silk dress designed by John Galliano back when he was creative director of Christian Dior between 1996 and 2011.
Speaking about her outfit during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, Jennifer explained that she actually owns the gown.
“This is John Galliano for Christian Dior, this is a vintage dress that I sort of gave to myself as a present,” she said. “This is an investment. These are designers that are working for particular houses – I only have a couple.”
Jennifer completed her ensemble with jewellery from Fred Leighton.
But she wasn’t the only star to opt for white at the SAG Awards – Riverdale star Lili Reinhart looked elegant in a two-tone Miu Miu ballgown, The Handmaid’s Tale actress Yvonne Strahovski rocked a simple white gown from Khyeli and Christian Louboutin heels, while Millie Bobby Brown sported a Louis Vuitton outfit.
Other celebrities to make the best-dressed list included Zoe Kravitz, who matched her peach Oscar de la Renta column gown with white gloves and Tiffany & Co. bling, Cynthia Erivo, who stunned in a fuchsia and orange number from Schiaparelli, and Lupita Nyong’o, who dazzled in a strapless Louis Vuitton gown with silver sequin design.
Elsewhere, Renee Zellweger, who collected the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her film Judy, rocked a midnight blue dress from Maison Margiela with Jimmy Choo stilettos, and Scarlett Johansson made a splash in a teal blue Armani dress with plunging neckline.

The 2020 Academy Awards will be without a host for the second consecutive year.
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences officials decided to invite a string of guest presenters to carry the 2019 prizegiving after original host Kevin Hart quit for refusing to apologise for old homophobic tweets, but the event went so well, they are now sticking to the same formula for this year’s ceremony.
ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke announced the news on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena, California.
“There will be no traditional host again this year,” Burke said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “Repeating what worked for us last year: huge entertainment value, big musical numbers, big comedy, and star power.”
Last year’s Oscars, the first time in over 30 years the show had been without an emcee, proved to be a big hit, drawing almost 30 million viewers, up 12 per cent from 2018’s bash.
Voting for the awards closed on Tuesday evening, with the nominations to be announced on 13 January. And even though the ceremony won’t have a main host, Burke is adamant the bash will be highly entertaining.
“We expect another really commercial set of nominations,” she shared. “A lot of incredible elements have already come together that have convinced us that we are going to have an incredibly entertaining show. Our goal is really that. Our goal is to present the most entertaining show possible and the producers have already put together a plan for what is going to be an entertaining telecast.”
The 92nd annual Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on 9 February.

Kristen Stewart has admitted making her new sci-fi horror film Underwater was “not easy”.
The 29-year-old actress plays scientist Norah Price, who is part of a crew of underwater researchers struggling to survive an attack from mysterious creatures after an earthquake devastates their subterranean lab.
However, Kristen confessed that she had never made a movie like Underwater before and found it genuinely terrifying filming scenes in dark water tanks.
“It was not an easy movie to make – really long and just drippy and cold and f**king hard. I want to see how we all reacted in such precarious circumstances. It really pulls out the best and worst parts of people,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, the Twilight star, who made the movie back in 2017, reflected on how much she enjoyed being able to do her own stunts.
“A lot of stuff that we did was super practical. It was fun, it was not hard to do the movie in terms of trying to fantasise and play pretend,” she noted. “It was hard to do the movie because it was scary and it was genuine! It made a lot of these things happen, we blew a lot of stuff up.”
Kristen also opened up about the plot of her upcoming horror movie, sharing that it has strong connections to what is happening to the real-life devastation of our natural world.
“They’ve taken things that don’t belong to them,” she said of the fictional crew. “That we’ve mined the bottom of the ocean, that we’re digging for oil in a place of such mystery that what comes out is an emergency sort of natural disaster, but really it’s a repercussion.”
Underwater is released in cinemas from 8 January.

Kelly Marie Tran was “very emotional” after filming wrapped on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The 30-year-old actress reprised her role as resistance fighter Rose Tico in the upcoming finale, directed by J.J. Abrams, and revealed that she was overcome with sadness on her last day on the set of the sci-fi saga.
“I did cry. It’s very emotional. It was very emotional,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I’ve been watching a lot of, like, bad Christmas movies to help with my emotions.”
And Tran was happy with how her character’s storyline was wrapped up in the highly-anticipated movie.
“I think that we’re all gonna be really happy with what this movie does,” she teased.
Despite being forced to quit social media after the vicious bullying she received after the release of 2017’s The Last Jedi, Tran is pleased she still has the support of a majority of Star Wars fans.
“Oh man, it means so much. I mean, I think that we’re all just kind of reminding ourselves that we’re in this thing that’s so much bigger than us, but moments like that are just inexplicable,” she explained. “Like you’ll never forget them, you know? It means a lot.”
Tran also seemingly dispelled rumours of a rift with her co-star John Boyega, as the pair posed together for pictures on the blue carpet at the permiere of The Rise of Skywalker in Hollywood on Monday.
The British actor, who plays Finn in the trilogy, was forced to apologise for comments he made in an interview with Variety, in which he called those who can’t deal with criticism online “weak”.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is in cinemas from 18 December.

Rebel Wilson shed an astonishing eight pounds (3.6 kilograms) in just four days while shooting her big Cats number.
The Australian actress plays Jennyanydots in Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the much-loved musical and has a big performance in one scene of the film. Recalling shooting the number, Rebel admitted that the physicality of what she had to do, as well as the heat on the set, contributed to some unexpected weight loss
“I lost eight pounds, shooting my number, in four days,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “One, because there’s a lot of physicality… but also, they heated up the set very high, to almost 100 Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius), so that we could never cool down.
“These people are like, the best dancers in the whole world, so they can’t cool their muscles down or they could get an injury and they’d be out of the film. So, they’d heat up the set like a sauna so we would never cool down, but made it pretty uncomfortable.”
While the film’s first trailer didn’t go down well with fans, due to the computer-generated imagery to make the actors look like furry felines, Rebel added that the final movie is going to be “epic”.
“You definitely felt how epic it was,” the star explained. “From the sets and Tom Hooper directing… and then Andrew Lloyd Webber, who is a musical theatre god.
“He would pop up on set and he’d just be hiding in the shadows, and all of a sudden you’d be singing and like, ‘Oh, it’s Andrew Lloyd Webber, geez better be in key!’ The artistry that’s gone into this film, and to know that it’s all live singing and dancing. Spectacular is the right word to describe the film. It’s epic.”

Ariel Winter has weekly therapy sessions to keep her “mentally and physically healthy”.
The Modern Family star opened up about her wellness routine and highlighted the importance of self-care at the Spotlight charity event, benefiting foster care youth, at Paramount Studios in Hollywood over the weekend.
“I think it’s really important for kids to take care of themselves and make that a priority,” the actress told Entertainment Tonight.
The star then opened up about how she’s improving her own life through exercise and mental wellness, noting: “You can take care of yourself and not be selfish. You can make sure to prioritise how you feel.
“I think that that’s something that I didn’t do for a very long time and I’m doing that now and that feels great.”
Highlighting the benefit of exercise and weekly therapy, the 21-year-old, who began appearing on the hit ABC show at the age of 11, added: “We only get one life and you’ve gotta live your own, you’ve gotta do as much as you can to make sure you’re feeling healthy mentally and physically and that’s something that I’m doing a lot more of now and it’s nice.”
The final season of Modern Family airs Wednesdays on ABC.

Kim Kardashian asked for Reese Witherspoon’s approval before wearing her Legally Blonde-inspired look for Halloween.
The reality TV star is following in her late attorney father Robert Kardashian’s footsteps by training to become a lawyer, and last Thursday, decided to transform into Witherspoon’s bubbly sorority girl-turned-Harvard Law School student character Elle Woods for a bash.
Sharing several snaps on her Instagram page, Kardashian donned a pink dress and blonde wig, and also uploaded a video showing her parodying Woods’s famous Harvard admissions video essay.
The look was met with acclaim from fans, as well as Witherspoon, who commented, “Elle Woods forever,” adding the 100 emoji.
And speaking to Entertainment Tonight Canada, Witherspoon revealed Kardashian actually reached out to her for her blessing before debuting the costume.
“She actually wrote me and said, ‘I’m gonna do it.’ And I was like ‘Go for it!'” The Morning Show actress said. “It turned out great. She did a great job.”
“I’m impressed with that!” her co-star in the Apple TV+ series, Jennifer Aniston, added.
Aniston hadn’t yet seen the clip, but after her pal gushed over the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s project, she enthused: “That’s incredible, you have to show me that!”
Meanwhile, a third Legally Blonde movie is currently in the works, with Witherspoon hoping co-stars Jennifer Coolidge, Luke Wilson and Selma Blair will return for the flick.
