Actors including Zendaya, Eva Longoria, and Olivia Wilde have been invited to become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Officials at the Academy, which organises the Oscars, announced on Tuesday they have invited 819 industry figures to become an AMPAS member. Those who accept the invitation, which most do, will be able to vote in the 2021 Academy Awards, which have been pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will now take place on 25 April.

Other actors invited to join the 2020 class include Bobby Cannavale, Awkwafina, Ana de Armas, Natasha Lyonne, Constance Wu, Booksmart co-stars Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, Lakeith Stanfield, John David Washington, Zazie Beetz, GeorgeMacKay, and Ben Mendelsohn.

There are 75 Oscar nominees, including 15 winners, on the full list, with recent acting nominees including Roma’s Yalitza Aparicio, Harriet star Cynthia Erivo, and Little Women’s Florence Pugh.

Notable director invitees include Matthew Vaughn, Lulu Wang, Ari Aster, Matt Reeves, and Robert Eggers.

“The Academy is delighted to welcome these distinguished fellow travellers in the motion picture arts and sciences. We have always embraced extraordinary talent that reflects the rich variety of our global film community, and never more so than now,” said Academy President David Rubin in a statement.

Academy officials set inclusion goals in 2016 in response to the #OscarsSoWhite diversity controversy and vowed to double the number of women and underrepresented ethnic/racial communities by 2020. As such, the new class is comprised of 45 per cent women, 36 per cent underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 49 per cent international from 68 countries.

“We take great pride in the strides we have made in exceeding our initial inclusion goals set back in 2016, but acknowledge the road ahead is a long one,” added Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. “We look forward to continuing to foster an Academy that reflects the world around us in our membership, our programs, our new Museum, and in our awards.”

Elizabeth Banks has recalled how she once broke the zipper on her dress just minutes before she was due to arrive at a movie premiere.

In a recent throwback post uploaded to Instagram, the actress/filmmaker opened up about how she suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction while on the way to a screening of Lee Daniels’s drama Precious at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.

Sharing a snap of her in a silver Zac Posen dress, Elizabeth told her 3.2 million followers that the zip on the back of the gown popped open moments before stepping out of the car with her publicist Jessica Kolstad.

“The zipper popped in the car. I’m sure it was my a*s and not the dress. @imajesspot miraculously got the top to hold, we made it a ‘keyhole’ but you can tell from my face and body I am trying to move as little as possible because the zipper was just opening the whole time I walked,” the 46-year-old wrote alongside the snaps, which included a shot of the back of her broken dress. “It busted totally open as soon as I sat in the theatre, exposing top crack so I wore my husband’s tux jacket the rest of the night.”

Eva Longoria, who inspired the Pitch Perfect 2 director to share her embarrassing wardrobe blunder, commented on the post: “We’ve all been there!!!”

While Julianne Moore showed her support by simply leaving a flame emoji.

Eva Longoria has dyed her own hair at home for a brand-new L’Oreal Paris commercial.

The Desperate Housewives actress made a splash on Instagram last week when she demonstrated to her seven million followers how she uses the brand’s Magic Root Cover Up to conceal her silver strands while she can’t visit her usual hairdresser during the coronavirus lockdown.

However, Eva has since decided to permanently dye her locks with L’Oreal Paris’ Excellence Creme products, and filmed the process of her doing so at home on her smartphone for an original ad campaign.

“When my L’Oreal family approached me to do this campaign, I was excited to direct this first of its kind commercial. It’s a challenging time for everyone right now as we try and juggle all of our responsibilities and the needs of our loved ones, but it’s also important to remember to take care of ourselves,” the star, who has served as a L’Oreal spokesperson since 2005, commented. “In this commercial, viewers can see how easy it is to get expert results and the confidence boost they deserve while at home. Self-care is self-worth and now, more than ever, we are all worth it!”

The clip shows Eva explaining how she applies the at-home dye product, before allowing it to process and then rinsing in the shower. She then conditions her locks before blow-drying with a hairdryer.

“No more greys! I’m so happy!” she exclaimed at the end.

And Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, global brand president of L’Oreal Paris, noted that she couldn’t be more thrilled with how the concept turned out.

“Just as many of us are working from home, so too is our spokesperson Eva Longoria, who has created this advertising campaign for our star hair colour range Excellence Creme from her home. The Covid-19 crisis hasn’t stopped L’Oréal Paris from imagining new ways to create original forms of connection with our consumers, who are looking to maintain their self-worth during confinement,” she insisted.

Cindy Bruna has been named as the new international spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris.

The French model, who is of Italian and Congolese descent, was discovered at the age of 16 and has since gone on to star in campaigns for the likes of Prada, Burberry, and Chanel.

Now, Cindy is about to make waves in the beauty world, having landed her first major gig for a cosmetics company.

“Today, I’m very happy to announce some great news that is happening in my life. It has been one of the biggest dreams I’ve had since I started my modelling career and I’m very humbled to announce that I just signed with L’Oreal Paris,” she said in a video posted on Instagram. “I grew up watching the commercials on TV, I grew up admiring these women and it’s such an honour for me to join this big family. As a French girl being the new face of such an iconic brand from my home country is everything.”

Cindy joins a roster of diverse spokespeople, including Viola Davis, Celine Dion, Helen Mirren, Eva Longoria, Elle Fanning, Aja Naomi King, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Camila Cabello, among others.

And the brunette beauty insisted that she has always appreciated L’Oreal Paris’ famous “Because I’m worth it” tagline.

“It means so much to me. It’s this deep sense of self-esteem that makes us beautiful. It is embracing who you are and the diversity around you because we are all worth it. Especially in this tough time we are going through right now. Let’s not forget that even in the darkest moment we can see beauty,” the 25-year-old added.

Eva Longoria is relying on a touch-up spray to conceal her grey roots during the coronavirus lockdown.

In a video posted to Instagram earlier this week, the Desperate Housewives actress candidly admitted that her roots are now beginning to go grey.

But as she is unable to make an appointment with her hairdresser during the Covid-19 pandemic, she is using L’Oreal Paris’ Magic Root Cover Up to conceal her silver strands.

“Hey guys, look at all this grey – this is crazy! If you’ve been following me, you’ll know I’ve been going grey. So, I have my favourite solution, Magic Root Cover Up,” she said, before demonstrating how she spritzes the product on her hairline. “This thing is awesome because it has a little nozzle that makes it really specific.”

Eva, a L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador, uses the Dark Brown shade, but the product is also available in eight other colours. Magic Root Cover Up is priced at $10.99 (£8.99), and it seems that the star can’t get enough of the “magic” formula.

“You guys, that was like 10 seconds. Oh my God, you can’t even tell. The other thing I love is, it doesn’t get on my skin when I have make-up on, it doesn’t fall, it doesn’t get on my hands. I don’t know what this stuff is made of, but it’s magic!” the 45-year-old smiled.

Eva’s video quickly racked up 1.9 million views and thousands of comments, including some from her celebrity friends.

Serena Williams wrote, “This is a must have!!!”, Olivia Munn commented, “That stuff is amazing!! Your hairline still looks natural too!”, while Hollywood hairdresser Ken Paves gushed: “This is soooo major!!!!! Like magic!!!”

Eva Longoria has found directing to be very challenging.

The Desperate Housewives actress, who first tried her hand at directing with episodes of TV shows such as Black-ish and Jane the Virgin, is making her feature film directorial debut with the comedy 24-7, which she will follow up with biopic Flamin’ Hot.

Longoria has found directing to be difficult, so to aid the process, she has surrounded herself by the best possible crew.

“Directing is a challenge — period,” Longoria told Yahoo Entertainment. “You have to be prepared no matter who you are, male or female… there are so many obstacles women face — second-guessing and sexism still persists… you just got to hire the right people to surround yourself with. I’ve had amazing experiences with (directors of photography) and crews supporting me. But I know that’s not universal. And I’ve heard those horror stories.”

Flamin’ Hot is a biopic about Richard Montanez, a Mexican immigrant and former janitor at Frito-Lay who invented the spicy Cheetos flavour and worked his way up the business.

The 44-year-old explained that she wanted to direct the project because it is important for her to represent the Latinx community onscreen.

“I got the job because I was prepared and I was authentic with my point of view,” she continued. “Richard Montanez’s story is my story. And it’s many people’s stories. When people say, ‘…you know, people who look like you won’t get the shot,’ that’s when you try harder. I really loved that aspect of it. And I think they respected my point of view and how I wanted to make the movie.”

Longoria is also producing and starring in 24-7 alongside Kerry Washington. It follows a group of accountants who band together to solve a fraud case.

Slick Woods attended the Puma x Balmain clothing launch on Thursday, shortly after it was revealed she was battling melanoma cancer.

The 23-year-old model, real name Simone Thompson, casually announced that she was undergoing chemotherapy on Instagram on Wednesday and reporters at The Shade Room subsequently claimed she had told them she was suffering from stage three melanoma cancer.

And Slick proved that she wasn’t letting her health battle get her down when she made a public appearance at the launch of fellow model Cara Delevingne’s clothing collaboration with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing and sportswear giant Puma at Milk Studios in Los Angeles.

Dressed in black trousers, a baseball cap, sneakers and a denim jacket, she styled the look in an interesting way by securing the bottom buttonhole to the top button, exposing her shoulder, midriff, and green mesh vest top.

The launch was also attended by models Alessandra Ambrosio and Shanina Shaik and stars including Amber Heard, Eva Longoria, Bella Thorne, Machine Gun Kelly, and G-Eazy, who all sported pieces from the boxing-inspired collection.

The Savage x Fenty model referred to her medical treatment when she shared a photo of herself sticking out her tongue while out with her boyfriend Micky Munday and some friends.

“How I feel about chemotherapy, shout out to everyone that gotta go through it #atleastimalreadybald,” she wrote in the caption.

As fans expressed their shock at the news and sent their well wishes, Slick shared a picture of a pouting child and urged her followers to “stop treating me like a victim”.

Slick gave birth to a son named Saphir, who she shares with model Adonis Bosso, shortly after walking the Savage X Fenty show in September 2018.

Viola Davis has been selected as the new spokeswoman for L’Oreal Paris.

Executives at the French cosmetics giant announced on Tuesday that the Academy Award-winning actress is joining the company as a brand ambassador, with her gig as the face of Age Perfect products to mark one of her first beauty campaigns.

“As a young girl, I wasn’t always told that I was smart, beautiful, or worthy. I worked tremendously hard to get where I am today – overcoming feelings of doubt to become a woman who truly believes I am ‘worth it’ in every way,” the 54-year-old said in a statement. “I believe it’s so important to build confidence in women from a young age, and to role model diverse perspectives of beauty. To now be part of a brand that has been championing women’s worth for more than 40 years and to use my voice to help empower others is truly surreal.”

In the role, Viola joins a roster of diverse spokespeople including Celine Dion, Helen Mirren, Eva Longoria, Elle Fanning, Aja Naomi King, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Camila Cabello, among others.

The Fences star will appear in TV, print, and digital advertising campaigns for Age Perfect beginning later this month.

Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, global brand president of L’Oreal Paris, commented that Viola’s appointment builds on the company’s mission to reflect the diversity of the modern world, as well as promote inclusivity, self-worth, and empowerment.

“We are thrilled to welcome Viola as a member of our family. Viola’s tenacity, authenticity, and bold spirit resonate with and inspire so many people,” she praised. “She challenges the status quo in all aspects of life and her drive to succeed has proven itself time after time – she leads by example and is the perfect conduit to elevate our core message, ‘Because I’m Worth It.'”

Eva Longoria’s fearlessness behind the camera inspired her actress pal Roselyn Sanchez to tackle her longtime dream of becoming a director.

Sanchez has long harboured hopes of taking charge of her own project, but she was “petrified” to step out of her comfort zone until Longoria’s constant encouragement prompted her to embrace her fears head on.

She will now make her directorial debut with a documentary all about dog adoption in her native Puerto Rico, which is expected to be released this summer.

During a joint interview on U.S. daytime show The View, Sanchez explained, “This woman inspired me. For years I’ve had the inclination or the desire to direct, but I’ve been petrified… because it’s a different animal altogether. There’s technical elements that I didn’t know.

“But I said, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna go for it,’ and seeing her (Longoria) directing, acting, producing, breastfeeding, I was like, ‘You know what, I can do this’.”

Longoria, whose son Santiago turns one on Wednesday, juggled multiple jobs on the set of the pals’ new TV series Grand Hotel, and watching her gave Sanchez the confidence she needed to pursue directing.

Sharing details about her first project behind the camera, she continued, “So I decided if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna go to Puerto Rico, where I’m from, and I’m gonna do it about the problem of stray dogs…

“It’s a wonderful, beautiful paradise, but we have a lot of stray dogs, so it’s about a (pet) shelter and how three families meet and (how) adopting a dog changes a life.”

Longoria also made her directing debut with a documentary, titled Latinos Living the American Dream, back in 2010, and she has since gone on to shoot episodes of shows like Jane the Virgin, The Mick, and Black-ish.

Eva claims she learned everything about making a TV episode by watching directors and crew on the set of Desperate Housewives, calling the show her college.
