Dakota Johnson was “really sad” to see her signature tooth gap close up after she had a retainer removed.

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress is known for having a small space between her upper two front teeth, and in a video for Vanity Fair in 2017, even demonstrated how she could put various objects into the gap, including toothpicks, a credit card, a cherry stem, a twig, and cash.

However, following Dakota’s appearance at The Peanut Butter Falcon premiere in Hollywood last Thursday night, eagle-eyed fans noticed that it looked like she had the gap closed entirely, and during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, she spoke about the recent changes to her smile.

“I had a permanent retainer since I was like, 13, and it was just glued to the back of my teeth, and I was having a lot of neck problems recently so my orthodontist, she decided that it would be a good idea to take it off and see if my jaw sort of expanded,” she said. “It helped me, and my gap closed by itself. I’m really sad about it too.”

Dakota went on to insinuate that she hadn’t undergone any dramatic dental work, insisting that her tooth gap closed on its own.

“As you grow, as a human being, your skull expands, and your jaw and your teeth move. Your teeth don’t look like they did when you were a baby,” the 29-year-old smiled, before adding jokingly: “I’m sad about my gap tooth too. So, I’d really appreciate some privacy in this time. I have to deal with a whole new world of problems – getting food stuck in my tooth. Before it would just slide right through!”

To conclude the chat, host Jimmy asked Dakota if she would consider getting the tooth gap back.

“Yeah, but it’s gonna come back,” she replied. “Yeah, (I can get) other retainers. The world of dentistry is so advanced.”

While it is possible Dakota’s tooth gap closed on its own, Dr. Nina Bal, a London-based cosmetic dental surgeon and facial aesthetics expert, isn’t entirely convinced that the star hasn’t had some recent dental work done.

“Anything is possible but (it’s) very, very unlikely that the gap can close so perfectly itself, plus it makes no sense that a retainer was placed with a gap in between the teeth,” she commented. “Normally, it’s placed at the end of the orthodontic treatment once teeth are straight.”

A close-up photo of the star smiling at the premiere appears to confirm the speculation, though the 29-year-old has yet to comment on whether or not she had a recent trip to the dentist.

In light of the transformation, a number of Dakota’s fans have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on her new look.

One user wrote, “Logged on to find out that Dakota Johnson, the only person who should have a gap in their teeth, got rid of hers…,” while another asked, “Is grieving over Dakota Johnson fixing her tooth gap a valid reason to not work?”

Yet, a third commenter showed support for Dakota, and praised: “I just found out Dakota Johnson fixed her tooth gap and I’m kinda sad because that was like her brand but if it makes her feel better I’m all for it u go queen (sic).”

Elsewhere, followers posted video montages in honour of Dakota’s famed tooth gap.

Other celebrities known for having gap teeth include Anna Paquin, Elijah Wood, Lara Stone, Madonna, and even Dakota’s rumoured boyfriend, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

The Peanut Butter Falcon, also starring Shia LaBeouf and Bruce Dern, is slated to open in U.S. cinemas on Friday.

Emilia Clarke was set to star in Iron Man 3 before her role was cut in the final script changes.

Co-screenwriter Drew Pearce offered up the big reveal via Instagram over the weekend as he shared an image from the first table read of the second Iron Man sequel back in 2012.

”My finest hour: at an early Iron Man Three table read,” Pearce captioned a shot of his name tag, noting Robert Downey Jr., who played the titular character, Don Cheadle, who portrayed James Rhodes / War Machine, and Clarke were all present during the meeting. “Downey, Cheadle, Emilia Clarke (long story, the script changed) … all vaguely terrifying.”

Pearce did not expand on what role Game of Thrones star Clarke had signed on to play or how the script had been changed.

Fellow screenwriter Shane Black also revealed he read the role of Jarvis during the pre-production gathering – a character ultimately played by Paul Bettany.

And previously, Black divulged that Rebecca Hall’s character Maya Hansen actually had a bigger part to play in the narrative at one point, but the writers made the decision to reduce it because Marvel executives didn’t think a female toy would sell.

“There was an early draft of Iron Man 3 where we had an inkling of a problem. Which is that we had a female character who was the villain in the draft. We had finished the script and we were given a no-holds-barred memo saying that cannot stand and we’ve changed our minds because, after consulting, we’ve decided that toy won’t sell as well if it’s a female,” he shared in an interview with Uproxx in 2016. “So, we had to change the entire script because of toy making. Now, that’s not (Marvel producer Kevin) Feige. That’s Marvel corporate, but now you don’t have that problem anymore.”

Feige is now the president of Marvel Studios.

Meanwhile, Clarke also recently shared that she rejected a role in 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey because she had concerns over being “pigeonholed” as someone who is willing to appear nude onscreen after disrobing for her hit TV series Game of Thrones, in which she played Daenerys Targaryen.

Emilia Clarke turned down the lead role in Fifty Shades of Grey because she didn’t want to get naked onscreen again.

The British actress was among the stars considered to play Anastasia Steele in the 2015 adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel, with the film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

However, Emilia has now shared that she rejected an offer to portray the leading lady as she was sick of being asked questions about disrobing for hit TV series Game of Thrones, in which she played Daenerys Targaryen.

“Well, Sam (Taylor-Johnson) is a magician. I love her, and I thought her vision was beautiful. But the last time that I was naked on camera on (Game of Thrones) was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman,” she said during The Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress Roundtable, which also included Patricia Arquette, Michelle Williams, Christine Baranski, Danai Gurira and Niecy Nash. “And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character – I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my t**s, for God’s sake. So, that coming up, I was like, ‘I can’t.'”

Emilia went on to explain that she also feared being “pigeonholed” in Hollywood.

“I did a minimal amount and I’m pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, ‘No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation,’ and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, ‘No, you can’t keep asking me this question,'” the 32-year-old commented.

Anastasia was ultimately played by Dakota Johnson, while the part of Christian Grey went to Jamie Dornan. The duo reprised their roles for the two follow-up films in the franchise; 2017’s Fifty Shades Darker and 2018’s Fifty Shades Freed.

Jamie Dornan knew that the Fifty Shades movies would “get panned” by film critics.

The 37-year-old made his debut as suave millionaire businessman Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey back in 2015, but has now confessed it was a strange decision he had to make when he was offered the part.

“It was very odd to be honest, because you are presented with this incredible opportunity that is going to have a big impact on your life and change many things,” Jamie explained during an interview on the Out to Lunch with Jay Rayner podcast.

“To be honest, mostly financially, but again in (my) career (it) opened so many doors. But you sort of know it’s going to get panned. Very strange thing.”

While the father-of-three went on to reprise his role as the S&M loving millionaire, alongside on-screen love Dakota Johnson, in two more Fifty Shades films, the response to the movies adapted from E.L. James’ books has been polarising.

And while Jamie was aware of the negative reviews of the books, he managed to maintain a professional attitude on set, and admitted working on the movies was “a great joy”.

“You’re trying to do the best you can and make the best of it but we knew that because the books were sort of adored by many, bought by many, but panned by many, it was probably going to be the same thing for the movies,” he shared.

“It’s not like suddenly everyone who thought the book was badly written was going to be like, ‘Oh but the film’s very good.’ They were a great joy to be a part of and a crazy journey to go on, but also, above everything else, they are just a job on a film set. It’s no different than anything else; you’re just simulating more sex.”

Jamie Dornan turns to power of push-ups during takes

Jamie Dornan gets in some last-minute push-ups before a shirtless scene so he’s always looking his very best.

The hunky Northern Irish actor became a global pin-up after being cast as Christian Grey in the big screen version of E.L. James’ steamy novel Fifty Shades of Grey, and its sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.

But Jamie is no stranger to stripping off, having made his name as an underwear model for Calvin Klein. Talking on the Out To Lunch with Jay Rayner podcast, the 37-year-old explained why push-ups are his secret weapon.

“Oh yeah, Jesus, yeah, yeah, yeah (I do a lot of push-ups). I’ve done that for various reasons. I’ve done that for reasons of, ‘I’m about to have my top off, and everything they film is committed to celluloid forever.’ Why not try to look as good as I can in that moment?” he said.

The exercise doesn’t just serve Jamie well when it comes to aesthetics though; he also turns to push-ups when he either needs a hit of energy, or has to burn off any excess energy.

“I’ve also done it sometimes when I’m particularly spent and exhausted after a scene where I’m running in The Fall or whatever. Sometimes I do it because I sometimes just have a lot of energy and I don’t know what to do with it,” he shared. “They’re f**king hanging around, ‘Oh, I just gotta fix this light, sorry Jamie.’ I’m good to go, champing at the bit to get rid of some of this energy, so I’ll drop and just do press-ups – just for something to do.”

A sequel to Tom Hardy’s Venom movie is officially in development.

Released last October (18), the flick featured the British actor as Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist who becomes the host of an alien symbiote, Venom, that imbues him with super-human abilities.

Despite critics slating the script, Hardy won praise for his performance, and Venom was an unexpected box office success, garnering over $855 million (£669 million) worldwide and becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of 2018.

Now, according to editors at Variety, producers at Sony Pictures have signed up Hardy to reprise his role and Kelly Marcel to work on the screenplay for the follow-up.

Marcel co-wrote the script for the first film alongside Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, basing the story off the Marvel Comics created by Todd McFarlane and David Michelinie. It was also reported that Marcel will act as executive producer on the sequel.

Previously, she penned the screenplays of films such as Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey, and is currently writing Cruella, a live-action prequel feature film following a young Cruella de Vil, which is set to feature Emma Stone in the lead role.

While Ruben Fleischer helmed the first Venom movie, it is unclear if he will return for the sequel. He has a number of projects lined up, and is making Zombieland 2 at present. He is in the pre-production stages of Jekyll, set to feature Captain America’s Chris Evans, too, and is attached to make comedy The Regional Office Is Under Attack.

Executives from Sony Pictures have declined to comment on the new Venom project. However, it is anticipated that Hardy will be joined again by key characters from the original film, such as Michelle Williams, who played Anne Weying, and Woody Harrelson in the role of Cletus Kasady.

Actress Dakota Johnson took on double duty for new horror remake Suspiria by secretly playing twins in a brief clip.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star takes on the lead role of Susie in Luca Guadagnino’s revamped film, but the director reveals she also played a second part as her character’s twin sister Naomi in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot during the movie’s opening sequence.

“For a second in the main titles at the beginning: (you see Dakota as) her sister looming there,” he shared in an interview with Vulture.

Luca suggests he had initially intended for Naomi to have a larger part in the Suspiria story, but he ended up cutting it down to the brief glimpse.

“She (Dakota) plays two roles, but the second role is not in the movie that is coming out,” said the Call Me by Your Name filmmaker, who also worked with the actress on his 2015 drama A Bigger Splash.

“She’s really bombastic, and she’s really bold,” Luca gushed about Dakota’s style of acting. “She doesn’t shy away. She goes for it. She’s not pretty and nice and acting. She’s really committed to (just) be.”

The news of Dakota’s little-known second role in Suspiria comes less than two weeks after co-star Tilda Swinton confessed that she had used prosthetics and make-up to play 82-year-old first-time actor Lutz Ebersdorf, who portrays a psychoanalyst named Dr. Josef Klemperer onscreen, as part of an elaborate hoax for the movie.

Fans were quick to suspect Swinton was actually dressed up to play Ebersdorf after pictures comparing the two emerged online, but at the time, Guadagnino dismissed the suggestions as “fake news”.

Tilda eventually came clean in an email to The New York Times, and Luca explains the ruse even tricked half of the cast and crew, who thought Ebersdorf was a real German actor.

Joking about the future of Ebersdorf’s screen career, Luca added to Vulture, “He’s quite old. Maybe if he doesn’t die, we can hire him to do something else.”

Suspiria, a remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 original, centres on an aspiring dancer who enrols in an all-female dance academy in Berlin that she later discovers is run by a coven of witches.

It opens in theatres this week (ends26Oct18).

Dakota Johnson finds it “difficult” to pose when participating in fashion photoshoots.

The actress is currently promoting Suspiria, director Luca Guadagnino’s remake of the 1977 horror film of the same name, in which she plays a dancer who enrols at a prestigious dance academy plagued by unusual occurrences.

Dakota also teamed up Luca for a surrealist photoshoot with W Magazine to celebrate the project, and during an accompanying interview, explained that she felt uncharacteristically at ease during the shoot.

“For me, fashion shoots are difficult. I don’t really thrive in them,” she said. “I love clothes, I love fashion. But modelling – that’s not my bag. I’m just not the most comfortable. This shoot was different, though, because it was very much a character.”

Dakota went on to share that she and Luca dreamed up a backstory for the photoshoot and wanted her to play a “trapped housewife who completely loses her mind”.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star was also inspired by the costumes she wore in Suspiria, which were designed by Luca’s regular collaborator Giulia Piersanti.

“The costume department was so extraordinary – but that’s the way with all of Luca’s films. They had amazing vintage clothes and handmade pieces. There were some fabrics that I loved that I wanted to re-cover chairs in,” the 29-year-old smiled.

Meanwhile, Dakota appeared right at home on the red carpet at the London premiere of Suspiria on Tuesday night (16Oct18). The brunette beauty stepped out in a figure-hugging, strapless silver sequin gown from Gucci teamed with Cartier jewellery.

Her co-star Mia Goth opted to wear silver too, and chose a tiered Givenchy gown with spaghetti straps, while Tilda Swinton donned a black silk suit.

Sam Taylor-Johnson struggled to find movies to direct after the success of Fifty Shades of Grey.

She took charge of the first movie in the highly-popular film franchise, which grossed $571 million (GBP438 million) worldwide, and she expected to be offered project after project following her success, but nothing came her way.

She tells IndieWire, “I literally was scrambling still, in exactly the same position I was prior to that.

“I’d say to my agent, ‘I love this book. I really love it. What’s the deal with it…? I know I’m fully capable’.”

“I’ve done a short film,” she adds. “I’ve done an indie. I’ve done a blockbuster. I’ve done a TV show. I’ve just now done extreme small budget. I’m experienced across the board. I’ve shown I’m capable, but I’m still far down the list.”

Sam also felt anxious about returning to work quickly after having children with her husband, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, because she worried she would lose out on projects if she spent too long away from filmmaking.

“After I did Nowhere Boy, and we had two kids, I was very aware that that was going to reduce my stock,” she says. “I had this innate panic that I had to finish nursing and get back out there and do meetings, and show that I was still present because if I left it too long, I was the mom at home with four kids…

“It was that thing that I don’t want to become irrelevant to the filmmaking world just because I have kids. I want to show that I can still do it.”

“It’s sort of sad that you have to feel that way, because it’s such a boring thing to have to say, but no male director gets that: ‘Oh, you’ve just had a baby. You’re not going to be able to make a movie’.”
