Dakota Johnson hopes to do more directing in the future.

Back in May, the 30-year-old was in the director’s chair as she oversaw the music video for Cry Cry Cry, the new single from her boyfriend Chris Martin’s band Coldplay.

At the time, the Fifty Shades of Grey actress insisted she was given the job after pitching her ideas to the British band “like every other director”, and in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Dakota confessed she would love to direct more.

“I would love to make more music videos. That’s a department that I really love. I still have so much to learn, and I feel like I’m still trying to figure out how to do my job. But, yeah, I mean, if the opportunity arises, then for sure,” she explained.

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed how much she enjoyed working on female-centric movie The High Note, which was helmed by Nisha Ganatra and also starred Tracee Ellis Ross.

“I read the script, and I just loved it. I thought that it would be a really great time, and I thought I’d have a wonderful time making this movie, and be able to be ambitious and cool and funny and goofy, and also touch on subjects that are important to me, like young women really working towards their dreams and believing in themselves and supporting each other,” she added.

Dakota Johnson set up her own production company so she could have more creative input in the filmmaking process.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star found she was getting sidelined on the sets of her films and had no creative control over the finished product when she was just an actress, so she became a producer and set up TeaTime Pictures with former Netflix executive Ro Donnelly last year so she could be more involved.

“For a long time, I’d do a movie and have no say,” she told Marie Claire magazine. “I could go into something, and it’ll be one thing, and then it comes out as a totally different thing. As an artist, you’re like, ‘What the f**k?’”

Johnson, who has denied she was unhappy with the Fifty Shades films, explained that she didn’t want to be blindsided by the final film anymore and wanted to be involved in high-level decisions like casting, writers, and the overall aesthetic of a project.

“I definitely want to have my craft, my artistry, and my ideas respected and tossed around. I want to be part of the process,” the 30-year-old added. “When I work, I’m constantly thinking about the job. It takes up so much of my brain… Not all of my projects are only good messages, but all of them have a little bit of something that makes me feel like it’s an okay thing to pour my heart into.”

Johnson shared that she doesn’t have a method for picking projects and described her process as “very intuitive and emotional”. She generally follows her heart and goes for films that speak to her at the time. For example, when she was “in a place that felt very dark”, she was drawn to The Peanut Butter Falcon, alongside Shia LaBeouf and newcomer Zack Gottsagen.

“I think Shia might be the greatest actor of my generation, which I wouldn’t say to his face,” she gushed. “Zack Gottsagen has become one of the greatest loves of my life… He totally shifted my world.”

Jamie Dornan has had a surprising makeover from his three daughters while holed up at home during the coronavirus lockdown.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star recently took to Instagram to share a hilarious photo of himself playing dress-up with six-year-old Dulcie and Elva, four, whom he shares with his wife Amelia Warner. The couple also has a baby daughter named Alberta.

In the image, Jamie is seen wearing a red dress over his jeans and a pair of gold high heels. He offers an unimpressed look to the camera while standing surrounded by toys in his daughters’ playroom.

To complete the outfit, Jamie also sported a dark blue wig, which was fastened into messy pigtails using red ribbons.

“Dressing up with my daughters took a turn. Meet Jenny (with the blue hair). She’s sweet,” the 38-year-old wrote alongside the cheeky snap.

Jamie’s famous friends were quick to comment on the photo, with Armie Hammer one of the first to poke fun.

“‘Dressing up with my daughters = I have heels in my size and was looking for an excuse to feel like a fierce b**ch,” The Social Network actor joked, prompting Jamie to claim he had borrowed the shoes from his wife.

“Millie has big feet!” he quipped.

Supermodel Helena Christensen also chimed in, and teased The Fall actor for the way the ill-fitting red patterned dress accentuated his figure: “Great boobs!”

The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin was next to rib his longtime friend, and told Jamie that the post, “Made my Sunday.”

However, the father-of-three was quick to challenge the Peaky Blinders actor to join in.

“I expect the same from you next Sunday,” he teased.

Jamie Dornan was so terrified about the improvised nature of Endings, Beginnings that he considered “running away” before shooting began.

Drake Doremus’ latest movie follows Shailene Woodley’s character Daphne, who meets two friends at a party and is unable to decide which one she likes more. Sebastian Stan plays the free-spirited bad boy Frank, while Dornan portrays the intelligent and sensitive Jack.

The actors were given a skeleton script outlining the scene and their characters’ intentions but had to fill in the dialogue on the spot during filming, and the Fifty Shades of Grey actor found the prospect so daunting he considered an escape before his first scene.

“I genuinely wanted to run for the hills the first night. There was a night shoot in L.A., and I was like, ‘I’m so scared.’ I was actually thinking of running away, like legitimately running away,” he confessed to Variety. “I was terrified, because you’re so out of your comfort zone. The first scene I had was the first time Daphne and Jack meet. It’s a party scene. There’s a lot of extras there. There’s music so you have to raise your levels, talk loudly. I just felt so exposed, and I was like, ‘F**k!’ I sort of had no idea what was going to happen.”

The 38-year-old admitted that he stuck very closely to the threadbare script on his first take before Doremus encouraged him to let it all go and follow his instincts.

“Drake comes over and goes: ‘Hey, forget everything on the page. Do whatever you want here.’ And you’re even more terrified than you were the first time,” the star admitted. “But then, that gives way to … I don’t know, truth. You’re suddenly standing there just trying to tell the truth of these two characters and these two situations.”

Endings, Beginnings is now available on video-on-demand.

Jamie Dornan is excited for audiences to see his first foray into comedy with Barb and Star Go to Vista del Mar.

The Northern Irish actor is known for his serious role in TV show The Fall as well as appearances in films such as A Private War and the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise.

But in an interview with Variety, Dornan revealed that he had always dreamed of going down the comedy route and he’s excited he’s finally been given a chance to show off his aptitude for the genre alongside Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo.

“I’m so excited for people to see the movie. I’m so excited to see the movie myself,” he gushed. “Years ago, when I first started in the industry, I kind of only really wanted to do comedy and I was sort of making good comedy connections, feeling like I was going to go down that path. And then I did The Fall, and if you’re playing a serial killer, nobody’s considering you for comedy… I guess it’s taken me a while to find my way back to that world.”

The 37-year-old shared that the opportunity came to him after executives on the film saw him telling funny stories on TV programmes like The Graham Norton Show, and he is amazed that his first comedy gig is with Wiig and Mumolo, who won acclaim for co-writing the 2011 smash hit Bridesmaids.

“I mean, for my first comedy to be (with Wiig and Mumolo), it’s kind of mind-blowing. We just had such a laugh making that movie in Mexico last summer,” Dornan praised. “It’s a trip, though. I really hope people respond to it. It’s right up my street. They’re some of the funniest days I’ve ever had in my life.”

Wiig and Mumolo also wrote the screenplay for the comedy, which follows Barb and Star as they get tangled up in adventure, love, and a villain’s plot to kill everyone in town when they go on holiday. It is still scheduled to be released in July.

Jamie Dornan is grateful for the wide variety of roles he’s been offered since starring in the Fifty Shades of Grey film franchise.

The actor found international fame after starring as Christian Grey, a wealthy businessman with a penchant for BDSM who embarks on a new relationship with Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele, in the movie adaptations of E.L. James’ bestselling erotic book trilogy between 2015 and 2018.

While the movies were poorly received by critics, they performed well at the international box office, and Dornan counts himself lucky that their success has afforded him a variety of opportunities.

“One thing with this job is to challenge myself and one thing is to keep a very large element of variety. I just wouldn’t – and I’m not trying to discredit anyone who’s in this world – but I just couldn’t be an actor who does action film after action film or, indeed, who does comedy after comedy,” he told Variety. “I’m not closed off to being in an action movie. I just don’t want to do four a year.

“And I think I’ve been lucky in everything post-Fifty Shades. There’s a lot in the market of the $5 to $15 million budget movie. And I personally believe that’s where the best scripts are. I’ve done things like Anthropoid or A Private War, and some of these movies, I’m really proud of. I’m just lucky they came my way because of the box office success of Fifty Shades.”

Dornan added that he wasn’t too concerned about being typecast after Fifty Shades because the films were so unique.

“It can’t be typecast. There aren’t a million scripts lying around about millionaires who are into BDSM,” the 37-year-old explained. “I’ve never done anything close to it since and probably never will again, because it’s kind of its own thing.”

Dakota Johnson ‘really sad’ retainer removal led to tooth gap closing up

Dakota Johnson was “really sad” to see her signature tooth gap close up after she had a retainer removed.

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress is known for having a small space between her upper two front teeth, and in a video for Vanity Fair in 2017, even demonstrated how she could put various objects into the gap, including toothpicks, a credit card, a cherry stem, a twig, and cash.

However, following Dakota’s appearance at The Peanut Butter Falcon premiere in Hollywood last Thursday night, eagle-eyed fans noticed that it looked like she had the gap closed entirely, and during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, she spoke about the recent changes to her smile.

“I had a permanent retainer since I was like, 13, and it was just glued to the back of my teeth, and I was having a lot of neck problems recently so my orthodontist, she decided that it would be a good idea to take it off and see if my jaw sort of expanded,” she said. “It helped me, and my gap closed by itself. I’m really sad about it too.”

Dakota went on to insinuate that she hadn’t undergone any dramatic dental work, insisting that her tooth gap closed on its own.

“As you grow, as a human being, your skull expands, and your jaw and your teeth move. Your teeth don’t look like they did when you were a baby,” the 29-year-old smiled, before adding jokingly: “I’m sad about my gap tooth too. So, I’d really appreciate some privacy in this time. I have to deal with a whole new world of problems – getting food stuck in my tooth. Before it would just slide right through!”

To conclude the chat, host Jimmy asked Dakota if she would consider getting the tooth gap back.

“Yeah, but it’s gonna come back,” she replied. “Yeah, (I can get) other retainers. The world of dentistry is so advanced.”

While it is possible Dakota’s tooth gap closed on its own, Dr. Nina Bal, a London-based cosmetic dental surgeon and facial aesthetics expert, isn’t entirely convinced that the star hasn’t had some recent dental work done.

“Anything is possible but (it’s) very, very unlikely that the gap can close so perfectly itself, plus it makes no sense that a retainer was placed with a gap in between the teeth,” she commented. “Normally, it’s placed at the end of the orthodontic treatment once teeth are straight.”

A close-up photo of the star smiling at the premiere appears to confirm the speculation, though the 29-year-old has yet to comment on whether or not she had a recent trip to the dentist.

In light of the transformation, a number of Dakota’s fans have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on her new look.

One user wrote, “Logged on to find out that Dakota Johnson, the only person who should have a gap in their teeth, got rid of hers…,” while another asked, “Is grieving over Dakota Johnson fixing her tooth gap a valid reason to not work?”

Yet, a third commenter showed support for Dakota, and praised: “I just found out Dakota Johnson fixed her tooth gap and I’m kinda sad because that was like her brand but if it makes her feel better I’m all for it u go queen (sic).”

Elsewhere, followers posted video montages in honour of Dakota’s famed tooth gap.

Other celebrities known for having gap teeth include Anna Paquin, Elijah Wood, Lara Stone, Madonna, and even Dakota’s rumoured boyfriend, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

The Peanut Butter Falcon, also starring Shia LaBeouf and Bruce Dern, is slated to open in U.S. cinemas on Friday.

Emilia Clarke was set to star in Iron Man 3 before her role was cut in the final script changes.

Co-screenwriter Drew Pearce offered up the big reveal via Instagram over the weekend as he shared an image from the first table read of the second Iron Man sequel back in 2012.

”My finest hour: at an early Iron Man Three table read,” Pearce captioned a shot of his name tag, noting Robert Downey Jr., who played the titular character, Don Cheadle, who portrayed James Rhodes / War Machine, and Clarke were all present during the meeting. “Downey, Cheadle, Emilia Clarke (long story, the script changed) … all vaguely terrifying.”

Pearce did not expand on what role Game of Thrones star Clarke had signed on to play or how the script had been changed.

Fellow screenwriter Shane Black also revealed he read the role of Jarvis during the pre-production gathering – a character ultimately played by Paul Bettany.

And previously, Black divulged that Rebecca Hall’s character Maya Hansen actually had a bigger part to play in the narrative at one point, but the writers made the decision to reduce it because Marvel executives didn’t think a female toy would sell.

“There was an early draft of Iron Man 3 where we had an inkling of a problem. Which is that we had a female character who was the villain in the draft. We had finished the script and we were given a no-holds-barred memo saying that cannot stand and we’ve changed our minds because, after consulting, we’ve decided that toy won’t sell as well if it’s a female,” he shared in an interview with Uproxx in 2016. “So, we had to change the entire script because of toy making. Now, that’s not (Marvel producer Kevin) Feige. That’s Marvel corporate, but now you don’t have that problem anymore.”

Feige is now the president of Marvel Studios.

Meanwhile, Clarke also recently shared that she rejected a role in 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey because she had concerns over being “pigeonholed” as someone who is willing to appear nude onscreen after disrobing for her hit TV series Game of Thrones, in which she played Daenerys Targaryen.

Emilia Clarke turned down the lead role in Fifty Shades of Grey because she didn’t want to get naked onscreen again.

The British actress was among the stars considered to play Anastasia Steele in the 2015 adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel, with the film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

However, Emilia has now shared that she rejected an offer to portray the leading lady as she was sick of being asked questions about disrobing for hit TV series Game of Thrones, in which she played Daenerys Targaryen.

“Well, Sam (Taylor-Johnson) is a magician. I love her, and I thought her vision was beautiful. But the last time that I was naked on camera on (Game of Thrones) was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman,” she said during The Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress Roundtable, which also included Patricia Arquette, Michelle Williams, Christine Baranski, Danai Gurira and Niecy Nash. “And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character – I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my t**s, for God’s sake. So, that coming up, I was like, ‘I can’t.'”

Emilia went on to explain that she also feared being “pigeonholed” in Hollywood.

“I did a minimal amount and I’m pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, ‘No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation,’ and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, ‘No, you can’t keep asking me this question,'” the 32-year-old commented.

Anastasia was ultimately played by Dakota Johnson, while the part of Christian Grey went to Jamie Dornan. The duo reprised their roles for the two follow-up films in the franchise; 2017’s Fifty Shades Darker and 2018’s Fifty Shades Freed.
