Drew Barrymore has added blue light glasses to her Flower Eyewear line.
The Charlie’s Angels actress launched Flower Beauty in 2013 and has since expanded the business to include make-up, perfume, and eyewear, with Flower Eyewear featuring a range of sunglasses, prescription spectacles, and reading glasses.
Drew has now introduced seven fresh styles as part of her new Blue Light collection. The glasses feature yellow-tinted lenses which help absorb blue light emitted from screens and block ultraviolet (UV) rays to protect the eyes and reduce fatigue.
“I wish people were going to be on their screens less, but my prediction is that they will not be,” the 45-year-old told People. “We’ve been in that category now with Flower for several years and I didn’t even need glasses when I started it. Now I need them because 40 is different than 45 and I loved designing them. Forty to 45, I have to start caring about wellness in a whole new way. So, if there’s something we can do to protect ourselves, wellness and eyewear is such a fun story for me.”
Styles include a round shape with tortoiseshell design, a round blue frame, and a round clear plastic frame, among others. All the products are available exclusively in U.S. store Walmart.
Drew launched the new eyewear collection last week and brought along her daughters Olive, seven, and Frankie, five, to the event. She also revealed to People that she lets them wear make-up from the Flower line.
“I just let them… I can’t work in make-up and not,” she explained. “They make messes when they put it on – Olive will do mascara right before bed and I’ll worry, ‘What’s your teacher going to think when Alice Cooper walks in?'”
