Gisele Bundchen has been named the face of Dior’s anti-ageing skincare range, Capture Totale.

The Brazilian supermodel will appear in a new print and digital advertising campaign for the line, which features a serum, foundation, and eye cream, next year.

Gisele will be joining fellow model Cara Delevingne, who is currently the face of the French fashion house’s skincare collections, Capture Youth and Capture Dreamskin.

Claude Martinez, president and chief executive officer of Parfums Christian Dior, described Gisele, 39, as an “iconic muse” and the perfect fit for the Capture Totale range.

“Inner beauty nourishes, regenerates and radiates infinite external beauty with its full power and vital energy,” he said in a statement, according to WWD. “Today, we are celebrating a supermodel glowing with health, who is an accomplished, stunningly beautiful woman, and of course, the iconic muse of conscious beauty, who joins us to convey and celebrate the house of Dior values.”

Cara, 27, was unveiled as the face of the anti-ageing skincare collection back in 2017, and joined the likes of Bella Hadid and Jennifer Lawrence as a Dior Beauty brand ambassador.

The Capture Totale line uses stem cell technology. Prices start at $82 (£66) for a triple correcting powder foundation, while the multi-perfecting serum costs around $240 (£195).

The model and environmental activist previously served as the face of Brazilian cosmetic company O Boticario and Chanel’s Les Beiges make-up campaign.

Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell and Gigi Hadid have donated items from their closets to a fundraising auction and pop-up shop.

The high-profile faces from the world of fashion, including Karlie Kloss, Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls and Amber Valletta, generously gave clothing and accessories from their personal collections to the Supermodel Flea Market auction to support The Toni Garrn Foundation.

Garrn launched her namesake foundation back in 2016 to help support educational and healthcare initiatives for women and girls in African countries such as Burundi, Ghana, Uganda, and Rwanda.

While Gigi has cleaned out her closet and donated 100 items to the flea market, Gisele is another generous donor, and has even handed over the Alexander McQueen clutch that she took to the Met Gala back in 2011.

Garrn has also donated some of her own personal belongings, including a monochrome Oscar de la Renta gown and Jimmy Choo fringe boots.

The 27-year-old was prompted to create her foundation when she took part in a photoshoot for Chloe in South Africa more than 10 years ago and noticed the inequality between young boys and girls.

“Seeing how it was not equal just felt so unfair… Obviously, there are many issues but it usually comes down to – there is no infrastructure and the poverty. That is the number-one issue, that girls don’t go to school,” she told WWD.

According to the publication, shoppers have three opportunities to get their hands on the goods – an online auction and buy-now sale and a pop-up shop at the 11 Howard hotel in New York, which will also feature more than 1,000 items.

The pop-up will be open to the public from 13 to 15 September, and include clothing and accessories from luxury fashion houses such as Chanel, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Miu Miu, Viktor & Rolf, Christian Louboutin, and Jimmy Choo.

The online auction and shop will end on 30 November.

Gisele Bundchen and Carolyn Murphy have called for people to embrace sustainable practices as part of Earth Day.

The supermodels both took to Instagram on Monday (22Apr19) to upload posts about the annual event, which has been organised to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

In her post, Gisele, 38, shared a quote from a friend who compared the “pillaging and ravaging” of Planet Earth to an ill person.

“If someone is sick, you don’t keep doing things that make them sicker, you help them heal!” the Brazilian model and environmental campaigner wrote. “Many people take the soil, the food, the water, the air, and all the gifts that she provides us for granted. Many more believe we are entitled to just take and take from her without a thought of nourishing her back. We’re not!”

Gisele concluded her post by noting that there are now “clear signs” that humans must change their ways in order for the planet to thrive, and reminded her 15 million followers that Earth is “our only home”.

Meanwhile, American star Carolyn insisted that she is not a “do-gooder” but has found some practical solutions for supporting sustainability in her own life.

“Please, do what you can… eat a plant-based diet, buy vintage or sustainably made furniture and clothes, carry your own water bottle, carry your own shopping bags, use biodegradable sandwich bags or glass storage containers, use your own produce bags and buy dry goods in bulk, plant a veggie garden, buy local and organic, plant more trees, compost and recycle, remember quality versus quantity, (and) stay informed and get involved,” the 44-year-old commented.

Gisele Bundchen is certain the #MeToo movement has the power to “unite” women around the globe.

The Brazilian supermodel retired from runway modelling back in 2015 but continues to appear in editorials and campaigns and also released her book Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life last year (18).

In her story, Gisele opened up about her experiences in the competitive fashion industry, however, she is hoping that models will soon become much more supportive of one another, especially in light of the #MeToo movement fighting sexual harassment and assault which is sweeping the entertainment industry.

“I come from a family of six strong, beautiful women. The way I grew up, we always supported each other, we helped each other, we loved each other. But when I left home, that’s not what I felt with the other models. I did not understand why anyone would not want the best for me, when I wanted the best for everybody,” she said in an interview with Porter magazine. “This #MeToo movement has united women. It’s a beautiful thing. We are stronger when we are together… It makes me wonder why we weren’t being like this before.”

In her book, Gisele opened up on a wide range of topics, including her struggles with anxiety, her former relationships, such as with actor Leonardo DiCaprio, and how she met her husband, American football quarterback Tom Brady, whose team the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl for the sixth time on Sunday (03Feb19).

But it took the 38-year-old a long time to realise that she should merge all of her old letters and experiences into a book, especially considering how she was constantly asked by fans and friends for life advice.

“I’d be at, like, the dentist. He’d say, ‘Oh, Gisele, my niece is going through this tough time, would you write something?’ It was kind of funny; it’d be the most random moments,” the mother-of-two recalled of her inspiration for the project. “If I could allow myself to feel vulnerable and share, they would see that there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel…The letters seemed to really help these girls. One started an anti-bullying programme in school; another stopped being bulimic.”

Gisele Bundchen is to be feted for her environmental activism at a gala next month (Feb19).

The Brazilian supermodel has long dedicated herself to supporting a variety of environmental issues, including sustainability, clean water initiatives, and preservation of rainforests in South America.

Gisele is a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environmental Programme too, and for her efforts, she is to be honoured at the UCLA Institute of Environment & Sustainability’s annual Hollywood for Science Gala on 21 February.

“We are all connected and without nature, we would cease to exist. Our planet needs our care now more than ever,” she told People.com in a statement. “We need to listen to the signs she has been giving us and work together to protect her; our actions will prevent us from harming ourselves and future generations.”

Previously, Gisele has spoken about her passion for protecting the environment and how she became dedicated to raising interest in the cause after she visited a tribe on the Xingu River in the Amazon Rainforest. The 38-year-old noticed that people were getting sick from the polluted water, and created charity, Project Agua Limpa, to help tackle the problem.

The 2019 Hollywood for Science Gala will see leaders in philanthropy, entertainment, and business come together to support actions combatting escalating challenges such as climate change, pollution, and deforestation.

In addition to Gisele, singer/actress Barbra Streisand will be honoured for her work on environmental causes, while the event’s chairs will include A-list stars such as Madonna, Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, Adriana Lima, Tiffany Haddish, Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, and Meg Ryan.

“This year we are thrilled to present that honour to Barbra Streisand and Gisele Bundchen for the incredible work they have done to raise awareness on the necessity to take action in order to keep our planet healthy,” commented the Institute of Environment & Sustainability’s global fundraising chairman Milutin Gatsby.

Gisele Bundchen’s first experience of modelling was a course her mother sent her on to correct her terrible posture.

The Brazilian supermodel opened up about her early years as part of the Wall Street Journal’s weekly House Call feature, in which she reflected on her childhood and current domestic life. Though now considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, Gisele is adamant that she never prioritised her looks as a youngster and was more interested in playing sports. But at 5 ft 9 by the time she reached her teens, she was a foot taller than her peers and was bullied as a result.

“When I was 13, my mother worried about my posture. I was being teased at school about my height, so I was hunching over,” the 38-year-old recalled. “My mum wanted me to be confident. She enrolled me, Pati and Gabi (her sisters) in a local modelling course. At the end of the course in 1994, the 50 girls in the class, along with five mothers including my mum, took a long bus trip to visit Curitiba, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It was a reward.”

It was in Sao Paulo that Gisele was discovered by Elite Model Management and persuaded to take part in her first modelling competition.

Having enjoyed an immensely successful fashion career, the Brazilian star has since taken a step back from modelling and now prioritises spending time with her family – sports star husband Tom Brady, nine-year-old son Benjamin and six-year-old daughter Vivian, as well as her 11-year-old stepson John whom Tom shares with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

“I’m still my mother’s child,” Gisele insisted. “Even though we have help at home, my children have chores. I’m teaching them that things don’t just happen. They have to make their beds and fold their clothes. I tell them, ‘Clothes don’t have legs.'”

A number of top models have shared messages to mark the start of 2019.

Among all of the parties and celebrations, many fashion stars took to social media on Tuesday (01Jan19) to upload photos and messages for fans as they rang in the New Year.

“I realise that as I grow and learn about myself, you guys simultaneously embrace me and allow me to do what I love, share what I’m passionate about, make mistakes, improve, create, learn, and stay true to who I am,” wrote Gigi Hadid alongside a selfie on her Instagram page. “I appreciate the opportunity & love, and always hope to make you proud in the New Year and beyond! I already have surprises lined up for you!!!!! Wishing you ALL a year of the light, love, good health, happiness, and great adventure you deserve! My greatest hope for 2019 is that we can all continue to find the bridges we can BE rather than the ones we can burn. Spread love.”

While Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen shared a similar sentiment in posts in English and Portuguese on her social media pages.

“What a year this has been. I am grateful for all the experiences and lessons learned. I am excited to keep learning, growing, expanding and sharing. 2019 I am ready for you! Thank you all for your love and support. Wishing you a New Year filled with gratitude, love, peace and fulfilled dreams!” the 38-year-old wrote.

Elsewhere, Ashley Graham reflected on her “whirlwind” year, which included the launch of her Pretty Big Deal podcast, and Joan Smalls penned a lengthy Instagram post in which she considered some of the obstacles she has faced in the past 12 months.

“Just to live another year and see my loved ones safe and healthy is one of the greatest blessing I could ever asked for. But 2019 I’m bout to grab you by the balls and Im expecting everyone to claim their greatness and showcase that we are all Queens and Kings (sic)!” she added.

In addition, Winnie Harlow shared a very positive note with her five million Instagram followers, and wrote: “Happiness, love, prosperity, growth, truth, blessings, prayer, generosity, adventure, action, courage, laughter… what else do you want to bring with you into 2019?”

Karlie Kloss and her new husband Joshua Kushner are enjoying a honeymoon in South Africa.

The supermodel and the businessman got engaged in July (18), and wed in an intimate ceremony in Upstate New York in October.

While Karlie, 26, and Joshua, who is the younger brother of Jared Kushner – U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law – jetted off for a 48-hour “minimoon” following their nuptials, the couple has now travelled to South Africa for a romantic getaway.

In one picture posted on Instagram on Wednesday (26Dec18), Karlie is depicted standing in a swimming pool, while an elephant walks past in the background. Another snaps shows a lion yawning, while the star also uploaded a happy selfie of herself and her beau in what appears to be a safari park. Karlie didn’t add a caption, but simply added the honey and moon emojis to her post.

Meanwhile, in her Instagram Stories, the blonde beauty shared a short video showing her visiting some animals, including a family of elephants.

Elsewhere, Joshua, 33, has uploaded a snap of Karlie in a blue dress and straw hat during a walk.

“South Africa,” he wrote alongside the photo, adding giraffe, lion and rhinoceros emojis.

The post caught the attention of the pair’s celebrity fans, with model Gisele Bundchen commenting, “How fun! Enjoy!” and comedian Trevor Noah, a Johannesburg native, joking: “Please can you water my plants while you’re there?”

Even though new Project Runway host Karlie and Joshua are notoriously private, she did open up about her relationship shortly after announcing her engagement.

“The proposal was romantic and sweet. We spent the weekend in Upstate New York, just the two of us,” she shared in an interview for Vogue.com. “We’ve really grown together personally and professionally. Josh knows that I’m just a nerdy, curious human being. I think that’s why he loves me. We have each other’s back.”

Karolina Kurkova has recalled how people thought she was Brazilian at the start of her career.

The supermodel grew up in the Czech Republic but later travelled to Milan to garner more modelling experience, where she quickly signed a contract with Prada creative director Miuccia Prada.

While Karolina is very proud of her Czech heritage, she has now shared that agents and designers believed she was a totally different nationality in the late ’90s.

“When I came into modelling, it was the Brazilian era-you know, Gisele (Bundchen). So, everybody thought I was Brazilian,” she told Into The Gloss. “When I first started, people wanted to put a label on me-like, OK, you are that look. But I didn’t really want to be labelled, because I’m not just one thing.”

Karolina went on to explain that she found tapping into different characters to be “like a therapy” when she was starting out in the fashion industry. And pushing herself out of her comfort zone on some of her edgier photoshoots proved to be particularly enlightening.

“I see it a lot, where people get insecure and they get stuck to their one look, and it’s almost like their blanket. As a model, it’s your job to be willing to try new looks. That I think is the difference between a model and a great model,” the 34-year-old commented.

In the interview, Karolina discussed her favourite make-up products too, revealing that she uses four different Lancome mascaras to achieve a “full” lash effect, and only uses cream highlighters during the day.

Though the mother-of-two is adamant that it is important to invest in a great skincare regime.

“Everything is about the effort you put in… So, I’m very disciplined with what I put on my skin. I’m all about good exfoliation, steamers. I love acupuncture, a good massage, and a good facial,” she smiled.

Kendall Jenner has topped Forbes magazine’s Highest-Paid Models list for a second year.

The catwalk favourite ended Gisele Bundchen’s 15-year reign as the world’s richest model last year (17) thanks to earnings of $22 million (£17.4 million) over the previous 12 months, and has retained her top spot with a $22.5 million (£17.7 million) fortune in 2018.

In addition to posing on the cover of top fashion magazines such as American Vogue, and walking in major runway shows for the likes of Burberry, Versace, Fendi, and Victoria’s Secret, Kendall has also partnered with fashion and beauty giants like Adidas, Calvin Klein, Estee Lauder, and Longchamp this year.

Newlywed Karlie Kloss, who will replace Heidi Klum as the host of hit reality show Project Runway in 2019, places second with $13 million (£10 million). Chrissy Teigen and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are tied in third place with $11.5 million (£9.1 million) each, followed by Gisele and Cara Delevingne, who both earned $10 million (£7.9 million) this year.

The new top 10 is rounded off by sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls and Doutzen Kroes, with the publication noting that each model has made excellent use of social media in boosting their profiles. Together, the world’s 10 highest-paid models made a cumulative $113 million (£89.6 million) between 1 June 1 2017 and 1 June 2018, a slight increase from $109.5 million (£86.8 million) collective total of last year.

However, neither Adriana Lima, Ashley Graham or Liu Wen made the list this year, as they all earned just below the $8 million (£6.3 million) cutoff.
