Health-conscious Gwyneth Paltrow likes to chill out with a little alcohol every night of the week.
The actress brought her lifestyle and wellness company, Goop, to the U.K. on Tuesday (25Sep18) for a pop-up shop venture in London, and revealed she picked up a few local habits when she lived in the city with her ex-husband, Coldplay star Chris Martin.
“I like to unwind with one of my baths and a glass of Japanese whisky,” she told the Evening Standard with a smile. “I always like to have a little something. I’m a seven-days-a-week drinker. I learned that in London.”
The 45-year-old Iron Man actress admitted she cooked up the idea for Goop, which now offers consumers products and wellness advice, while she was a London local.
“On September 25 it will be 10 years to the day that I wrote the first issue of Goop from my kitchen table in (London neighbourhood) Belsize Park,” she shared. “It all started in London – the first iteration of the company was here and my first team was here, and we still have a good readership in the U.K., so I really wanted to come home.
“It’s a celebration of what we’ve achieved in a decade. Looking back on where we started… it’s crazy.”
Now, every time she returns to the city, California-born Gwyneth is amazed by how much it has changed: “Oh my God, when I was living in London 10 to 15 years ago, I would say there was zero to minimal wellness,” she laughed. “I remember when a KX gym (chain) opened in Chelsea and it was this huge deal that there was a gym with a pool that offered treatments.
“But Londoners are very savvy about wellness now. There are all kinds of juice and vitamin infusions and you’re almost more caught up than New York. I’d say you’re almost at L.A. (Los Angeles) levels.”
