The impressive floral dress Florence Pugh wore in horror movie Midsommar has sold for $65,000 (£52,700) at a charity auction.

Officials at A24, the studio behind the film, put the 30-pound creation the actress wore for the May Queen scene and her matching crown up for auction alongside numerous other film props in a bid to raise money for organisations in New York amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Five bidders sought after the item, but it was the Academy Museum that placed the winning bid, according to Variety, with that money going directly to the FDNY Foundation, the New York City Fire Department’s official nonprofit organisation.

Midsommar costume designer Andrea Flesch previously told Vanity Fair magazine that the dress, which featured 10,000 silk flowers, became so heavy that Florence sat on a chair underneath the skirt of the ensemble in between takes.

The museum, which is based in Los Angeles, announced its auction win on social media.

“We’re excited to share our newest acquisition, the May Queen gown made of 10,000 silk flowers from the film Midsommar,” it stated, alongside a picture of the impressive gown from Ari Aster’s horror movie.

The dress was featured in a collection called Midsommar Harga Collectibles. Other lots included the bear headdress worn by Jack Reynor, which sold for $4,750 (£3,873).

Underneath an Instagram post about the A24 auction, Pugh left a comment describing what it is like to wear the May Queen gown.

“I should let you know that you can actually spend many hours in that flower dress. Good bang for your buck!” the Oscar-nominated actress wrote. “You can sit in it, lie in it, shield from the rain in it. I’m sure if you had a potty you could wee under it! And then best of luck getting out of it…”

Singers Ariana Grande and Halsey both publicly registered their interest in bidding for the floral dress, but it’s not known if they did.

Halsey and Ariana Grande are set to go head-to-head for the May Queen dress Florence Pugh wore in cult 2019 horror movie Midsommar.

The extravagant floral item, which was worn by the British actress in the final scene of the movie, is up for grabs in the A24 Films charity auction to benefit The FDNY Foundation – and both of the stars want it.

“Me, to myself,” Halsey tweeted. “Don’t bid for the Midsommar May Queen outfit don’t bid for the Midsommar May Queen outfit don’t bid for the Midsommar May Queen outfit don’t bid for the Midsommar May Queen outfit…”

Grande responded: “DO IT! Halloween will never be the same… Also, I’m bidding as soon as possible.”

The 7 Rings hitmaker previously shared a screenshot on her Instagram Stories to confess she already had her eye on replicating the dress after her friends had been forwarding her the news of the auction.

“I was already planning to have it made anyway bye,” she wrote.

Pugh starred in the movie as a young woman who travels to a commune in Sweden with her boyfriend, played by Jack Reynor, for a midsummer festival that descends into terrifying violence at the hands of a pagan cult.

The studio will host a series of auctions, each with different lots. The first sale was held on 22 April and featured original items from the hit HBO show Euphoria and horror movie Hereditary, with proceeds donated to NYC Health + Hospitals.

The next auction, to take place on 27 April, will include 10 items from Midsommar, including the May Queen outfit and a bear mask.

Another sale will be held on 4 May, and will feature lots from Uncut Gems, with the iconic jewelled Furby chain and Idina Menzel’s bat mitzvah dress up for grabs, with proceeds going to the Queens Community House.

And on 11 May, the final auction will be held, featuring items from The Lighthouse, including a mermaid statue.

Halsey has been tapped to front DKNY’s New York City-themed campaign.

The Without Me singer previously headlined the U.S. fashion house’s 30th birthday marketing, which was released in August.

Now, Halsey is starring in the brand’s latest campaign for spring 2020, which is set against the backdrop of the subway system.

“Life is confusing when you’re young and figuring it all out. The only thing that could pacify the hunger and bewilderment of my adolescence was finding my calling. The ‘thing’ that makes me wake up every day determined to evolve into a better version of myself than I was yesterday,” she commented. “I partnered with DKNY to reminisce on my days in New York when I first began songwriting and performing. For all of its success and excitement and the terrifying days in-between where I wondered if this path was truly mine to call my own.”

In one image, Halsey poses in an all-white outfit against a white wall, while in another, she stands in a subway carriage in an orange crop top and sporty black trousers.

Elsewhere, multimedia artist and model David Alexander Flinn rocks several sleek, sporty day-to-night pieces.

“Minimalist, fluid lines pair with razor-cut fits for the ultimate urban wardrobe combining uptown elegance and downtown edge. Classic trench coats and leather jackets are defined by clean whites, bursts of citrus, and flashes of neon. For men, neutral tailored suits and relaxed knits contrast with camo prints and sunny yellows. The collection embodies Halsey’s and Flinn’s rebellious, youthful style,” a brand representative added. “Fuelled by the city’s bustling rhythm and vibrant attitude, the spring 2020 #DKNYCALLING collection offers wear – everywhere, elevated essentials perfect for the season.”

The campaign was helmed by the creative team of Zoey Grossman, Zoe Costello, and Nathalie Canguilhem.

Halsey has partnered with designers at DKNY on a hoodie in order to raise funds for a homelessness charity.

The Without Me singer was tapped to front the U.S. fashion house’s 30th birthday campaign, which was released in August, and while on the shoot, Halsey, who is also a talented artist, created a painting of a red, black and white apple, which represents DKNY’s New York hometown.

The artwork has now been used on the DKNY X Halsey hoodie, an exclusive, limited-edition white sweatshirt, which features the apple design on the back and the words “DKNY Halsey” in a small black font on the front with a black heart symbol.

All proceeds from sales of the hoodie will go towards My Friend’s Place, a non-profit organisation which helps and inspires homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives.

DKNY officials shared a video of the singer creating the painting on Instagram and wrote in the caption, “@IAMHALSEY expresses herself with her art, and speaks up for what she believes in. We partnered with Halsey to create a limited-edition hoodie that gives back to a charity close to her heart: @MyFriendsPlace.”

The 25-year-old also posted the video and added, “This holiday season, @dkny & I collaborated on a limited-edition hoodie where ALL PROCEEDS will go to @myfriendsplace – an organisation that provides resources to the homeless youth of Los Angeles!!!!!”

Representatives from My Friend’s Place shared images of the hoodie on social media and wrote, “We are so excited about this amazing collaboration between our incredible champion @iamhalsey and our friends at @dkny!”

Halsey was honoured with an award at a benefit for My Friend’s Place earlier this year, and during her speech, she opened up about her own experiences with homelessness.

The DKNY X Halsey hoodie retails for $79 (£59) and is available to buy from the DKNY website.

Halsey has waited her entire life to look at pictures of herself and feel good about her appearance in them.

The Without Me singer, who is known for experimenting with bold make-up, hair colours, and wigs, has gone back to basics for her cover shoot for the December issue of Elle Australia magazine.

In the cover image, the 25-year-old wears a blue satin bralette and matching trousers from Louis Vuitton, minimal make-up, and shows off her natural dark, cropped hair.

In the accompanying interview, Halsey admitted it was rare for her to be happy with how she looks in images taken at photoshoots.

“I feel very lucky to be able to look at those photos and feel good about myself,” she said. “I’ve waited for that moment my entire life and there I am, with the hair that my mother and father gave me and with (minimal) make-up on, in a way I’m proud of. To be cool with the world seeing me that way… that says a lot to me about how I’ve grown as a person. I feel really happy and peaceful.”

In other images, the American singer gazes into the camera while wearing a sheer pink bodysuit, crouches down in heels while wearing a black bodysuit and a black jacket with white polka dots, and runs her hands through her hair as she sports a blue jacket covered in embroidery and sequins. In all of the snaps, her hair is kept simple and natural and her make-up is kept to a minimum so her freckles can be seen.

Sharing the pictures on her Instagram page, Halsey gushed over photographer Kai Z Feng by writing, “Thank you @elleaus shot beautifully by @kaizfeng.”

She received praise from Hailey Bieber in the comments, with the model posting, “This glam is gorgeous”, as well as from Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui, who simply wrote, “Wow.”

Halsey and Evan Peters dressed up as Sonny & Cher as they made their red carpet debut as a couple on Saturday.

The Without Me singer was linked to the American Horror Story actor in September after they were spotted at a theme park together and she seemingly confirmed their romance by sharing photos of their Halloween outfits from her annual bash on Friday.

However, they took their relationship public on Saturday by attending the American Horror Story 100th Episode Celebration at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, where they posed for photographers on the red carpet.

The 25-year-old wore a long dark wig, heavy blue eye make-up and a white one-shoulder satin dress with multi-coloured polka dots, while Evan sported a matching polka dot shirt with a white tuxedo, a mullet-style wig, and a stick-on moustache. Sonny & Cher, the husband-and-wife duo, wore those outfits during an episode of their ’70s TV show The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.

Halsey uploaded a picture of her look on social media and wrote in the caption, “Been dying to try out a good @cher makeup forever and finally got to!” She also confirmed to a fan on Twitter that she did the make-up herself.

On Friday, the singer attended her annual Halloween party in Los Angeles in a reimagined version of Marilyn Manson from the cover of his 1998 album Mechanical Animals. Evan, 32, dressed up as a fan of the Insane Clown Posse hip-hop duo.

Halsey shared photos of their looks on Instagram with the caption, “Resident goths.” In the snaps, she can be seen wearing a white latex bodysuit, white all over her face, striking blue eye make-up, coloured contact lenses, and a bright red wig.

Off-White has unveiled a space-themed collection for spring/summer 2020.

The Milan-based fashion house held a presentation at the Centre Pompidou on Thursday night as part of Paris Fashion Week, however, founder Virgil Abloh was not in attendance, having announced earlier this month that he was taking three months off to focus on his health.

Drawing in celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Olivia Culpo, Tyga, and Halsey, the show, titled Meteor Shower, kicked off with a recording of the voice of Dr. Mae Jemison, who became the first black woman to travel in space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

“The fundamental concept is to illustrate a woman’s power,” explained Abloh in the show notes. “To show that her spirit is indestructible by natural forces. She can withstand a ‘meteor shower’ both metaphorically and physically speaking.”

To open, Adut Akech walked the runway in a white shirtdress with heavy steel earrings. A number of outfits which merged Abloh’s interest in streetwear and sculptural silhouettes followed, with a white dress with parachute-esque skirt proving to be a highlight, as was a parka coat matched with sporty separates.

The designer had fun with the theme too, cutting round holes in tops and trouser legs, with the quirky motifs meant to resemble “craters formed by falling rock,” and also refer to the ‘cheesehead’ hat worn by fans at sports games in Wisconsin, where Abloh attended university.

He also cut holes into an updated version of Off-White’s Jitney handbag, with the design making it nearly impossible to store anything inside.

To end the spectacle, a line-up of models walked the runway in white ensembles topped with utilitarian accessories, while sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid modelled hot pink dresses at the conclusion.

Mandy Moore has joked about “twinning” with her This Is Us co-star Susan Kelechi Watson at the 2019 Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The This Is Us actress, who was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category, walked the purple carpet at the event in a gorgeous Brandon Maxwell gown with a pink off-the-shoulder top and long red skirt.

However, Mandy’s co-star Susan showed up in a very similar number from Badgley Mischka, and accordingly, the pair took the opportunity to take some pictures together.

“Always happy to be here and twinning with my girl, @susankelechiwatson. Thanks for having us @televisionacad! #Emmys,” the 35-year-old captioned a slideshow of happy snaps on her Instagram page.

Meanwhile, Susan, 37, uploaded the same photos and wrote: “No one else I’d rather twin with! Emmy nominee @mandymooremm. So excited to be here and have some famcandy on my arm (sic)! Feeling so extra special in this delicious @badgleymischka. Thank you both for this red and pink dream!”

The post caught the attention of Mandy and Susan’s celebrity pals, with actress Rachel Bilson commenting, “Stunning”, and model Karen Elson praising, “Gorgeous!!!”

Red and pink were a major trend for the 2019 Emmy Awards, with Taraji P. Henson rocking a blush number from Vera Wang with a red cape, Marisa Tomei opting for a pink and red dress by Ralph & Russo, and Catherine Zeta-Jones donning a hot pink Georges Hobeika number. Elsewhere, Joey King selected a ruby red Zac Posen dress, Sophie Turner sported a pale pink Louis Vuitton gown, Halsey dazzled in a strapless pink ombre Rami Kadi ballgown, and Zoe Kazan turned heads in a black Gucci ensemble with red and pink ribbon detailing draped on the bodice.

Rihanna personally signed off on every single detail in her latest Savage X Fenty collection.

The singer and fashion designer showed off the latest collection for her lingerie brand during an epic extravaganza at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as part of New York Fashion Week on Tuesday night.

But in an interview with Entertainment Tonight backstage, the 31-year-old revealed that she is “too involved” in all aspects of the design process and there is nothing in the line that hasn’t had her stamp of approval.

“Oh my God, I’m too involved. I want a break but I’m a control freak, so I do everything,” Rihanna shared. “I see everything. There’s not one step of the way, there’s not one lace trim, there’s not one bra strap… there is not one bow on a panty that I do not see and approve.

“It’s a lot of work, but it’s the only way you can preserve a brand, that you start from scratch… Here, I have a unique opportunity to change things. I’ve always been so sincere with my perspective on this brand but to see the way that we’re perceived in the lingerie world.”

The fashion and beauty mogul added that there’s pressure on her to continue producing size-inclusive garments, admitting, “It makes me feel like now we cannot neglect those consumers.”

This year’s Savage X Fenty presentation was bigger than ever thanks to a partnership with executives at Amazon Prime Video, who will exclusively broadcast the show on 20 September. To keep details under wraps, photography and cell phones were banned from the venue.

In addition to the new designs, the show will also feature performances from DJ Khaled, Halsey, Big Sean, and Migos, among others, as well as special appearances from Cara Delevingne, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Normani, Joan Smalls, and Laverne Cox.
