Manolo Blahnik’s iconic Hangisi pump is getting a makeover for its 10th anniversary.
The shoe, a pointed pump, became an instant classic when it featured in the first Sex and the City film in 2008.
It was part of one of the movie’s most prominent scenes, when Mr. Big (actor Chris Noth) gets on bended knee to propose to eternal singleton Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) for the second time, and presents her with a pair of blue satin Hangisi shoes inside the massive walk-in closet of the penthouse apartment he’d bought for them.
Now, a decade on, the footwear label is releasing a new collection based around the design, with plenty of nods to Sex and the City.
One pair, a geometric pattern version available in blue, pink and grey, is called the Cosmopolitan, a reference to Carrie’s cocktail of choice, while another pair pays homage to New York, the city which served as the backdrop to the Golden Globe-winning TV show.
The NYC design, which comes in white satin, has a delicate map highlighting the Big Apple’s landmarks on it.
Another standout honours the original, with the updated blue pump embroidered with the words ‘A decade of love’ across the side, and a blue jewelled brooch, as opposed to the silver jewels seen in the 2008 design.
There are seven styles altogether, and all will be available in a flat version, as well as 70mm and 105mm heel heights.
