Candice Swanepoel draws on freckles when doing her make-up for a “youthful” look.
The South African supermodel is the latest celebrity to share her everyday beauty routine in a 10-minute video for Vogue.com.
In the clip, Candice chose to document how she achieves her “fake natural” glow, with one of the most interesting parts of her everyday regime being the way in which she fakes having freckles.
“I learned this from a Brazilian make-up artist that I love to work with,” she said, taking Dior’s Diorshow Brow Styler Eyebrow Pencil in a taupe shade and gently dotting the powder onto her cheeks and nose. “I warm it up a little on my hand and just kinda go for it. (It) looks crazy at first, and then use a patting action. I’ve always felt freckles look really youthful and like you’ve been in the sun. And then I throw some random ones all over.”
Candice then swipes some fine translucent powder onto her skin to complete her look.
Other tricks the Victoria’s Secret star shared in her video included using her fingers to apply product and dotting on blush to the areas of the face in which light naturally hits.
“I like to use my hands in everything because the warmth of your hand just makes the make-up set better,” the 30-year-old noted, before taking a pot of peony-pink Stila pigment. “I also put this on my lids. I just feel like it makes you look a little more alive. Blush on the nose kind of gives a fake sun-kissed look, because that’s where you would look sunburned naturally.”
The products Candice uses include a heavy-duty concealer from Kryolan, which she will often mix with a couple of drops of beauty oil, Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Ultra Moisturising Lip Balm, and NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Do Me Baby, a chestnut rose shade.
And as a busy mother, having welcomed her second child with fiance Hermann Nicoli in June (18), a son named Ariel, the blonde beauty gets her hair to fall into loose waves simply by tying it up into two “Princess Leia” buns while she is applying her cosmetics.
“Lazy girl’s curly hair,” she smiled of her method, adding that she spritzes some dry shampoo through her tresses before she heads out the door.
